It is a college bar and the staff make it seem like they are not really employees but more of people who are just there who bring you drinks. I mean you cannot really expect a whole lot from a college bar. They do offer buckets though!

Casual place, a popular spot at night, and get get pretty rowdy on the weekends if that's what you're looking for. Good drinks, live music. I guess that's what the cover is for

Fun place. Live music. I never like boneless wings, but these were very good! Thai spice.

Overpriced, excessive wait times, really not worth it I’ve been to the Woods a few times, and I think this past time will be the last. Stood in a relatively short line for over an hour, paid $10 for cover, and then waited another 10-15 minutes for a drink. The staff was rude, nobody was dancing, and the bar closed early. Grand Rapids can do better! Next year, I’ll spend my Thanksgiving Eve somewhere else.

Love this place and the atmosphere. Wish I would go more often. No obvious, close free parking available that I'm aware of during busy nights/weekends.

I threw a surprise 50th Birthday party here last weekend and was very impressed! GREAT service all the way around from our Events coordinator Erica, to our servers, management, everyone was wonderful! Would highly suggest the Woods!

I have never had such a bad experience at any type of restaurant or bar. I think a requirement for you to get a job at the Woods is you have to be rude. We got there a little before 9, (I called ahead to see when the cover charge started, I was paying for the whole group so it would going to save me about 30 bucks to not pay a cover). We get there about 845 and the b**** at the front door decided she didn't like my friend so she was going to start charging a cover early. When you tell a customer that you are going to start charging at 9, you should probably start charging at 9. She stood there and argued with my friend, until one of the incredibly rude bouncers came over (long wavy hair) and pulled out his wallet and said "if it's so much money I'll just pay" and he did it to the next couple in line too, who probably planned on not paying a cover (SINCE IT WASNT 9!) we asked to speak to a manager and we were promptly told no. I will never be back, and I will make sure everyone knows how terrible of a place this is. Save your money and go somewhere else (everyone at the Tin Can is nice)

My overall experience at Grand Woods Lounge was very poor. It started off on a bad foot when the bouncer almost didn't let me in with my real id. It is out of state, so I understand being extra careful. However, I showed him my debit card with my name on it and he saw the UV holograms and still he was questioning it. The bouncers should be able to recognize out of state IDs, especially seeing as I am only a few hours away.

At the end of the night, I went to close my tab and noticed they had over-charged me $30 some dollars. The bartender put the person next to me's drinks on my tab. The girl next to me never said to put them on mine, the bartender made the mistake. I had them void the transaction and recharge me the correct amount. However, the voided amount ended up going through my bank account and now my bank is having to dispute the transaction.

Very very disappointed with my experience.

Thid is a classy joint. Be prepared for a cover charge. You get 2 bars AND a patio. It has a decently sized, open dance floor. Very social environment.

By far one of the worst bars/restaurants I have ever been to. $6.50 for a single well drink is a little pricey but understandable given the location. It would not have been a big deal if they actually knew how to make a drink. Whiskey coke tasted like straight coke. Gave them another chance with their special $6 Long Island, just as bad, it was sour to the point of being un-drinkable.

Went with at group of 5 tonight at 6:30 for drinks and dinner. They wanted to charge us $5 each just to get in. When I tried to explain to them that were planning on eating dinner and sticking around for drinks after, they still demanded cover. We refused and they promptly asked us to leave. Don't get me wrong, I love the woods and completely understand cover charges: even when they charge an absurd $15 for guys after midnight on the weekends. But this is getting ridiculous. I tried to explain to them that we were going to spend way more money on food and drinks than then measly $25 to get in ($5/per person) but it didn't matter. Instead my group and i went over to founders and tin can (neither place charged cover at 6:30) and we had a great time. After tonight's experience, my friends and I are writing off the woods and their greediness for good.

The servers and bartenders will overcharge you to try to make more money. Just tonight I ordered an absolute vodka and lemonade. I even went to a server because I know it's harder for them to make money. I was charged 8.50. I tipped $1.00 so paid 9.50. I asked the bar how much Absolute was and they said 6.50. This could probably pass as a mistake except for it has happened twice before. Especially considering I paid the $10 cover charge when it wasn't even busy just to be a victim of fraud multiple times is unbelievable. Expect for the late night bartenders and severs to charge you more just so they can pocket to difference.

High class bar/restaurant/nightclub. 2 bars inside with an open dance floor and seating areas. No bar games such as pool and darts. Very social environment.
Arrive early (9-10pm) to avoid a VERY LONG line.
The Woods apparently is just the place to be.
