This establishment continues to impress me each visit. With Grand Rapids origins, it is lovely to experience a vibrant downtown. Reserve offers modern elegant surroundings with an eclectic seasonal tasting menu able to suite a diverse range of foodie palate's.

You can tell this place has been in the area for a while- mixed branding on exterior, lacked energy once we got into the doors. Known for its wine list, which it did not disappoint. Dish presentation was simple and clean. Impeccable service. Lovely cauliflower soup, however heat was not consistent throughout which makes me wonder how they were heating it. Great taste overall but lacked in luster throughout. Would love to see them pick it up a notch and bring back a bit more of the elevated dining vibe I think they may have once had.

If you are getting a glass, get three tastings instead. Price of a glass is 3x price of tasting but only twice the size. Flights add $2 to the price of what a tasting would be from the normal menu - it's just the convenience of being able to have 3 tastings at once instead of 2.
Risotto was delicious, but not sure how they did it because it was undercooked. Medium-rare hamburger came out rare. Russet potatoes for the French fries were not the best choice.response / report this review -

Awesome dinner last night of pork fat fries, an artful beet salad, cacio e pepe (hosemade bucatini with parm blessed by the Vatican) and hanger steak! Try the "From Paris, With Love" cocktail- juiced tomato and watermelon, cocchi Torino, lemon and cava. Great wait staff- professional, knowledgeable and fun! Thank you Chef Luke for accommodating my soy allergy. This is the only restaurant downtown that I could find which doesn't use soy oil in their cooking or deep fryer.

We didn't eat here, for we just found it walking along. I give it a high rating because the atmosphere is awesome and I've never seen over 100 wines on tap. However, with that being said, I wish they had more sweet choices. The service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable of the wines. He selected the few sweets that they did have for me very well.

Went to reserve for dinner and had decent service, which I would expect because the place was empty on a Wednesday night. Food was good, though nothing to write home about. I had the dry aged ribeye, which was very earthy, but no other strong flavors. Ceasar salad was excellent. The price of the food however is quite high, and in my opinion not worth what you get as far as service and food. A good place to go to once if you haven't been before, but make sure you can afford it.

Went here after a local sporting event for date night. Nice place, albeit underwhelming. We ordered the fish entree (can't remember what kind of fish) and the pork belly entree. Maybe we didn't know what we were getting into, but neither of us enjoyed our meals as they were both a rather "unique" taste. We did power through and finish our meals, possibly hoping our palates would come around? -they did not. However, ordering the donuts for dessert was a good choice.
The staff seemed generally disinterested in us. I attribute this to a bad first impression as the bar(wine?)tender's first question to us was if we had "walked in off the street", which may seem innocent enough until you factor in the tone that the question was relayed led it to seem like ruffians such as ourselves were not welcome. I wish I was making that up.
The poor service led to the rating here, as I can't fault the restaurant for making what by all appearances would be considered a "good" dinner by anyone who has a taste for such things. Other highlights that I didn't mention were the wine flights, we tried one red and one white, and, well, you can't go wrong with wine. The small charcuterie board was a mistake to order, our mistake, as we didn't specify what types of meat/cheese/crackers we wanted to try and instead opted for the "surprise us" route; I honestly feel like they served us the least popular items so as to deplete their rapidly-spoiling reserves.
All in all, I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice, fancy-er dinner on the town.response / report this review -

I've been stopping here on the way to the GR Symphony for the last 3 seasons--the valet means no-hassle parking. At a high-top table one can enjoy conversation with others, or sit at the bar and check out 110 wines. Exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly staff. If you are experienced in fine cuisine, there are only pleasant surprises waiting at Reserve from the chef and the entire staff.

Please go to this restaurant if you are extremely wealthy and not at all hungry. They serve tiny, expensive food. My heirloom tomato salad was really good, but not even a cup of cherry tomatoes with the smallest cheese shavings for $12. The squash soup was over salted. My husband's appetizer was Itty bitty, like doll food. It was also very salty. For 60 bucks we had a tiny tomato salad, one bowl of soup, one doll size appetizer and we split a glass of red wine. To be fair, the staff was both knowledgeable and helpful - but when we go out to eat, we would actually like to eat for the money we spend.
