Omg between the unlimited mimosas, buffet brunch and the live band what more could I have asked for. The waiter was outstanding. Overall a very memorable experience. Go check it out 😉
Excellent food, excellent service, and excellent ambiance. This is by far my favorite restaurant in DC and they NEVER disappoint. I will be back soon!! P.S. Bob is an awesome waiter. Check him out. What goes hand in hand with great service? A great personality/sense of humor and Bob's got it.
Awesome and delicious experience from start to finish! As a native of St. Helena Island, SC, with strong roots of Gullah heritage and the Low-country, this restaurant is as close as it gets to real authentic southern, soul food! Service was wonderful and live band was icing on the cake! The cornbread and peach butter was incredible!
I just left Georgia Brown's in DC and I was very disappointed. I had heard so much about this restaurant and I was eager to visit and check it out for myself. My boyfriend, who is a chef, was also disappointed as well. We had the cowboy steak, which was pricey, but amazing! No complaints and worth the 39 dollars we paid. We started the meal off with the cream of crab soup. I took one bite of the soup and didn't finish it. The soup needed salt and tasted like something was definitely missing! It had no flavor! Definitely not with the 12 dollars for a little over a cup serving size .My most disappointing moment came with the 7 dollars side of Mac and cheese. Now being a southern style restaurant, there are certain standards that must be kept. The Mac and cheese had over cooked noodles to the point that the entire texture was a gummy paste! I would have rather eaten an entire box of Kraft Mac and cheese with the powdered mixture....that tastes much better than the Mac and cheese at Georgia Brown. Finally, the signature sweet potatoe cheese cake was not much to be desired as well. I'm not sure what was going on tonight, however, for the price of the food, I expected better tasting and quality food....oh, and the corn bread was very dry and so were the biscuits! Don't waste your time, money, or taste buds on this place. This place is waaaaayyyyy overpriced for the quality of food.
I went with family, the food was gorgeous and the service was even better. The cornbreads that they present you with before your meal were particularly good but the waitress noticed I liked them and as we left gave me a little box with about 4 corn breads in and a little plastic tub of cream; it was a small act but a genuinely kind one. All the other servers were equally polite and friendly
We had a private event here for the nonprofit I work for. Staff was great and easy to work with. Food was wonderful. Would definitely recommend for a private event. The only issue we had was the valet person kept disappearing. Not great when we promised guests valet.
Beautiful restaurant. Great atmosphere. Excellent service & GREAT food. Make a reservation for their Jazz Brunch on Sunday. U won't be able to get seats without one. Prices are a little on the expensive side but it's definitely worth it. They aldo offer bottomless mimosas & Bloody Mary's here for $25 during brunch.
I've eaten here 4 times so far and I've never been disappointed! Everything on the menu is delicious! The service is great! The atmosphere has a lively, friendly feel! That great DC vibe and flair without eye raising prices! Please open a restaurant in Baltimore!
Excellent service, wonderful food. We went as a large group for dinner and we had our own menu to select from and they even personalized it for our group. I really enjoyed my time there.
Believe the hype. It is good. Well-seasoned, hot food. Staff was accommodating and gave me half orders of 2 entrees I couldn't decide between and then didn't know which bite to end with because both were so good.
Went for happy hour. Nice and friendly staff. Service was quick. I like the cocktails but didn't care too much for the happy hour food menu, so I ordered from the regular menu. Tried the fried green tomatoes and hated them, but I was able to swap them out for the cajun shrimp and grits which were great! I also tried the bucket of fries, which were supposed to have some type of seasoning on them, but they tasted like plain fries to me.
Georgia Brown's claims to be an icon in downtown DC. If you love soul food, you may agree with them. My team at The Washington Post and I went here for a celebration and here's what we thought:
Food: I ordered the $30 lunch deal that came with a soup or salad, entree, and dessert. My soup was the bacon corn chowder and it was really good. For an entree, I ordered the fried pork and my colleague got the fried chicken. Both were just okay. The cheesecake for dessert wasn't impressive either. The winner was the soup AND the cornbread each table gets.
Atmosphere: It is a cool spot. The ceiling is uniquely designed.
Service: It was very attentive.
Georgia Brown's was a decent experience, but I won't be rushing to come back.
What a beautiful restaurant! And the staff was so amazingly nice and thoughtful. My friend ordered a meal for her two young children and without being asked the meal was split beautifully on to two plates. The food was delicious and our large party had a great time.
