For you true brand new to handgun newbies out there thinking of attending a FS handgun course may I offer up some tips that I think will make your experience MUCH better?

    - Highly recommend you know something about gun nomenclature & basic safety practices before coming. You can come as a raw newbie however, it will make it easier on you if you already know what a trigger, muzzle, grip, slide, & sights are, as well as knowing what the big 3-4 basic gun safety rules are prior to stepping onto the range at Front Sight. not required, but I recommend it.

    - If at all possible, do NOT bring a gun that's equipped with an external safety &/or decocker. All that stuff really complicates your required tasks during all of the drills. Yes, there's no problem if your chosen gun has these features, & many go thru classes with guns like that no problem, however. All I'm saying is if you have a choice on what you bring (or rent) stick with something that requires less manipulation to properly operate (a la Glock style pistols).

    - If at all possible, do NOT bring a brand new gun to a class especially anything with slides that are very stiff when new (like a lot of quality 1911s come out of the box with).

    - Bring as big/long of a pistol as you have. The shorter/smaller the gun you have in class will just make things harder on you The more rounds your gun can carry the easier it will be on you every day you're taking your course. Bigger guns generally carry more round capacity - more rounds on board is a good thing at FS.

    - Bring a bunch of magazines with you. I'd say having at least 4 is recommended. Having to load mags on or near the firing line takes away from what's going on in your class.

This place can be a ton of fun.

I’ve been there 3 times now, over 7 years, with this weekend’s visit being the best of the 3. The 4-day handgun & practical rifle courses are exceptional. Instructors were friendly & helpful, while ensuring safe handling of the firearms. VERY clean and well-kept facilities.

Frontsight Firearms Training facility is amazing! My shooting improved drastically over just a 2 day period. I am more confident with my firearm now than I have ever been in my life. The instructors are friendly, helpful, and take the time to make sure that you are comfortable with what is happening before they move on. LOVE that they have masking tape so that you just mask off what you previously fired and then start again. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Courses are top notch, as most everyone knows but I would only pay as you go and not do any memberships, especially the commander. Front site neglects to tell you that ammo at "cost" plus 20% is more expensive than the vast majority of ammo purchase sites anyone can buy from. The weapons purchase at "cost" program is also worthless as FrontSite staff will constantly tell you guns "aren't allowed in your state," even when talking about a .22 lever action, bolt action or pretty much anything that shoots bullets. The worst part is that you you really deal with incompetence until you ask for a refund of your membershipthen managers will start calling. The prices are much higher compared to dozens of places online you can purchase firearms, including shipping and transfer. The courses are obviously top rate and worth every penny but the extras they promote are borderline misleading. Just pay as you go.

We love attending classes at Front Sight! I have attended 8 times and every time have had excellent instructors and progressed in my skills. In addition, we have made friends from around the country and of all ages. The town of Pahrump is fun to stay in and has good restaurants and amenities. Bring your friends and family members to share in this wonderful, unbeatable experience!

Been 1st Family member since 2007. You simply cannot get better firearms training. Every course and curriculum top notch, as is the facility. The instructors are real people who possess a wealth of knowledge and love what they do. It shows by the numbers who train there and the numbers who buy memberships.

This is my definition of a successful vacation:
    1) Time spent with friends and family
    2) At least 50 miles away from home
    3) Learned and saw something new
    4) Returned feeling like I gained knowledge and experience
    5) Had a enjoyable time
    Front Sight met every criteria!

This place is legit! Great training, confidence, interaction, and instructors. Look forward to every class like a vacation, but leave ready to protect myself and my loved ones. They teach responsibility and aftermath of using your weapon in self-defense. An eye opener.

RECORD YOUR PHONECALLS*** I received a Diamond membership and was excited to go do some courses with sone buddies. I submitted an application for a 4 Night Defensive Handgun course. Got a phone call the next day from a gal saying they didn't have that course those dates and asking if I meant the 4 Day Defensive Handgun course on those same dates. I made the correction and she said "Okay you're all set" and I went about my life. Two days before I am set to show up and I haven't seen any e-mail (except the never ending SPAM mails asking if I want to upgrade my membership to the newest highest level) giving me a confirmation so I call and speak to a guy who says they have no record of me signing up and they don't have time to register me to the date so I've missed my window and am S.O.L. (He managed to tell me over 10x that there was nothing he could do though so at least he's a creative thinker.) Moral of the story: record your phonecalls with these guys and don't expect them to honor anything verbal.

If you own a gun, you need this training. The facility is first rate, the instructors are professional, highly qualified, positive, and helpful, and the instruction is impressive! I started the 4-Day Defensive Handgun course thinking I knew my way around guns, and left feeling humbled at the same time much more confident about my ability to defend myself with a handgun.

Over four days we received thorough instruction on firearm safety, stance, grip, marksmanship, combat mindset, morals and ethics of using deadly force, tactical movement, clearing malfunctions, and lots and lots of practice shooting. We learned how to clear a room/house, took a demanding skills test, and practiced facing single and multiple opponents. The whole experience is like drinking from a fire hose, and I am looking forward to returning many times over the coming years to continue improving my skills!

Note: get yourself a lifetime membership so that you can take courses at no extra charge. The classes are worth the retail price, but if you can find someone to sell you a Diamond membership, it will pay for itself on your first visit.

I firmly believe that every gun owner needs training like this! These instructors will teach you and, more importantly, help you to become proficient in firearm handling and safety.

I've been to three courses here (two handgun and one AR course) and each time I have come away with not only greater skills but also a greater respect for firearms. After three trips (so far) I like this place more than ever!

This is a fine company. They have many tactical courses in side arms, rifle, and shot gun. I took a basic side arms course and it was very well done and taught me lots. I enjoyed not only the excellent and thorough training, but the very experienced staff that they had. It is amazing how many classes they have going at at time and how many trainers they have. I commend you to sign up and take a course and you will have a great time and learn a lot.

Been a life member since 2012 have gone 4 times now, always a good time.
Myself and the wife go around Thanksgiving every year super nice weather.
My day lives 25 minutes from Front site so a place to stay is never a problem. We drive there in 1 day, 2 tanks of gas, we pack our breakfast and lunch for the trip always fun.
My skills have improved 100% each trip, I think before the next trip I'm putting a red dot on my pistol eyes getting older hard to see the sights. Need for training and self protection anyway.
Ok said enough go check it out.
