Love Fred's! When you think of mountain mercantile, you picture Fred's! They've got all your needs in one place: food, DVD rentals, clothing, shoes (all seasons) gift items, toys, a deli, sleds, Christmas wreaths, hardware. I could wander in there for hours! The people that work there are super helpful too!!

Nice arrangement. Lots of stuff. Groceries, ski equipment rental, ski apparel and coffee shop. Grocery shopping expect tourist pricing.

Everything you want on Beech Mountain without having to get off the mountain. A nice little breakfast cafe as well.

Went here for breakfast because it has “the best breakfast on Beech Mountain” and was sorely disappointed. It took us 1 hour to get our food and when the food finally came it was no longer hot. Nothing tasted homemade, and we had to soak our food in sauces to make it have any flavor. Would not recommend tbis place other than the general store part.

Just as a general store should be; a little bit of everything. The cafe down stairs has an amazing breakfast bowl. Can't wait to visit again this winter.

It's definitely worth the trip to see this cozy, old timey country store and chat with the friendly and knowledgeable employees. The prices are a bit high and selection pretty sparce. If you really need something and don't want to drive down the mountain then this is the place but expect to pay a premium of 1.5 to 2 times as much as the local Food Lion.

This place has everything: Fun shopping upstairs, grocery, hardware and clothing on the main floor, great food downstairs along with a ski shop. Everything is offered at great prices and a super friendly staff. No trip to the area is complete without at least 1 visit to Fred's!!!!

Neat place in Beech Mountain that has just about all of the essentials necessary for a resort town.

Food, drinks, those items you forgot at home, even ski rentals. The staff is friendly, and very talkative.

Charming cozy convenient grocery store and restaurant in Beech Mtn. Warm welcoming by Fred and everyone else. The Country Ham on an English muffin with egg and cheese was quite good. Want to go back and try the dog friendly outdoor seating.

Well, is it the mountain air, or incredible views, but why everything there seems just what one needs, and tastes so much better than down on the plane?
So cozy, so friendly, and just a landmark on its own.
It's not just a store, it's a ski rental, an art gallery, and of course a restaurant with the best chili!
Wet love it, always go there, and always have good time, getting a feel of bygone days. Aww
