  Paul and Forest have truly helped me achieve my dream of being a “cruiser”, living onboard a sailboat!
  
  From my first sailing lesson with their former school Black Rock, I fell in love with sailing during my ASA 101 class with Brenton, then 103, 104 and 114 with Paul.
  
  They enabled me to get my own boat (a 40’ sailing catamaran) and Forest helped me bring it from MooreHead City through the Cape Cod Canal to Boston. What an epic run!
  
  I know so many people with stories like mine where these men facilitated an opening to a whole new world of opportunity and a major lifestyle change.

  Fantastic experience with this sailing school! Paul is an exceptional teacher…patient and knowledgeable with a talent for helping students of all levels build skills as well as confidence. I would highly recommend First Reef for both vacation charters as well as sailing instruction.

  I have sailed with Forrest twice now: 8 days in the USVI for ASA 103/104, and a 9-day repositioning trip from Charleston to Key West. Forrest has a very impressive amount of experience and skill, and I completely agree that he is always 3 steps ahead of the vessel. He makes it all look so effortless! These guys are highly recommended and I look forward to sailing with First Reef again.

  First Reef Sailing is an absolute top notch organization. A new sailing school in Boston and offering courses and experiences in warmer weather in the off season as well. They are great, and while new, the organization is made up of highly experienced instructors and captains. My latest experience sailing a leg from Charleston to Miami with Capt. Forest was exactly as expected, an amazing sailing experience not to be missed!

  Captain Paul and his new crew at First Reef have my highest recommendation. It's probably worth sharing a bit of my own sea-going background. I am a retired Coast Guard Commander and as you might have guessed have lots of time on ships and boats. During my last four years of active duty, one of my collateral duties while teaching at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, was serving as a Certified Sailing Yacht Safety Officer. Over the course of four summers, I taught and took groups of 6 college students on 9-day sailing trips. After retiring, I did very little sailing and about 15 years later, my wife, who had zero boating experience, decided she wanted to learn to sail prior to a trip to BVI. For this reason, we opted to complete our ASA 104 together; I could use the refresher and based on my experience "teaching" my wife to ski and golf, figured it would be better if someone else taught her. It worked and she received her 104 certification. (Apologies for long story.) Captain Paul was our primary instructor throughout and he demonstrated patience, outstanding attention to detail, and good humor regardless of the situation. And he consistently emphasized and enforced goo safety practices. We had as much fun training with Cap'n Paul as we did on our BVI trip.
