DON'T GO HERE!! UNETHICAL!! Took my money from an online registration but didn't show up to take my family on the tour we registered and paid for. Drove an hour. No communication. National Park service employee was embarrassed that this vendor is associated at all. Have to go through a rigamarole to get a refund. Shame on you!

We had a great tour experience with Captain Craig. He has had a long history with the Everglades. He was fun and really made my grandson feel comfortable. I would absolutely recommend that you ask for Captain Craig. We will book with Captain Jacks again and will request Captain Craig.

One year ago we had a fantastic experience. This year it was so so. The guide said absolutely nothing about the Everglades to us. Last year we learned an incredible amount of information about the Everglades so I brought some friends and family there this year.

I rented a kayak for one week from the concessionaires at the park in Everglades City. I encountered very unhelpful people, two of whom were downright rude and impersonal. I emailed, ahead of time, Brenda Hamilton for help in keeping a bag at their facility while I was in the back country. The employees in her absence flat out refused to help me on this or even try to remedy the situation, which left me stranded w/ stashing my bag in the woods until I got back. Both the bag and the employees weighed on my mind and put a damper on what should have been a trouble-free enjoyable time. Upon my return, Brenda Hamilton offered up no apology for the situation.
In addition, their kayaks are sub par, handles on the bow for pulling the kayak shredding, shock cord for gear stretched out to be useless, the back storage hatch takes in water and needed to be emptied all the time.
I believe the employees there have no impulse to act any other way as 95% of their customers are tourist and therefore not returning customers. Saw lots of wild dolphins! The ride can get pretty cold when the boat is traveling in full speed.

I took the big boat tour in the gulf. Not the one in the river.
It is a nice tour. Totally worth it. The captain was good in spotting the dolphins and making them follow the boat. They crew were cordial, gave good information and were attentive to what they did. It gave me a closer look at everglades. They had some binoculars too that I did not use.
One thing did strike me: on the boat there is a sign that the crew work for tip. 15-20% is customary. I find it ridiculous. They charge you a price and afterwards they tell you that you should pay for the crew. Asking for tip is OK, but not telling that the crew work for tip is ridiculous. Tip was kind of mandatory. But most people paid about 5-10% tip.response / report this review -

Great value for the service provided. Our captain (Joyce) gave us a lot of great information about the area and animals in the area. We went through several mangrove forests (which were amazing.I've never experienced anything like them before). We saw a lot of wildlife as well..roughly five alligators as well as a wide variety of birds. If you're looking to see a lot of animals, Joyce told us the best time to go is when the tide is low. I would highly recommend this tour. It was money well spent.
