I went here last night with two other people. They have a beautiful outside area in the back. There were no seats at the bar and a server told us we could sit at a high top to drink, even though they usually save tables for people who are eating. It was late and they weren't very busy anyways. After sitting at a 2 person high top and taking a stool from the neighboring high top to fit 3 people, an old man (probably 75) comes walking up to us (can barely walk and is using a cane) and is yelling at us that we can't sit there. We tell him that a server specifically told us to sit there and he keeps telling, then randomly walks away to go yell at other customers. This man turned out to be the owner. 30 minutes later he came back and told us that we can't have our third stool from the other high top, giving us a really hard time. We asked him if he would like for us to leave, explain that we were told to sit here and do this, and that we are just trying to have a nice enjoyable quiet night. He said no, but proceeded to come back up to us multiple times yelling at us. Not sure if this man is suffering from mental illness, but no paying customer deserves to be treated like that. We ended up leaving. He was the only bad aspect of the place though, I had a delicious mojito (which is my favorite drink and very hard to find) and the bartender was excellent.

Love this place! Great outdoor bar and the food is delicious. Nick the bartender is very nice and always takes care of me and my friends!

Great atmosphere Great social environment. Sophisticated staff Extended menu available from Barca bar next door. Perfect outdoor location from April to October the patio bar covered and have heaters for those romantic fall evenings. The best kept secret of New Brunswick.

This is our favorite place in New Brunswick to go in the summer. The deck and backyard garden are very pretty. The food is FANTASTIC and the atmosphere is very chill. Definitely try the lamb shish kebab.

Two friends and I arrived at approximately 10:00 pm, I had a yards IPA and my friends got a gin and seltzer and some other beer. I got lamb shish kebab, my friends got something else but it all looked very similar. It was delicious and they didn't rush us out even though we stayed 15 minutes after they closed. Props to the super cute waitress. Great food and chill atmosphere

I love Evelyn's and will jump at the chance to go there any time. It's my favorite mid priced place in New Brunswick.

I love this place!!! I was slightly addicted during pregnancy and still frequent Evelyn's about once a week. This isn't fine dining or anything but the food is excellent. The wait staff is always friendly and the owner (usually in the corner when I come in) always has a welcoming hello. This is a very intimate restaurant but they have an amazing outdoor patio area. Definitely visit during the summer as it's nice to sit out there. You almost forget you're on Easton Ave in the middle of Rutgers. Try the kibbi balls (popular so they run out) and the meat entrees. Honestly, everything I get here is tasty so you can't go wrong.

The food here used to be amazing.. hummus is still good but I ordered a dinner and it was only about 2 ounces of beef.. mostly lettuce and tomatoes .. with little hummus also..
