This is one of the best stores that you can shop at for your family in Milwaukee They have the freshest meat. No matter what side of town no matter where I move if I'm in Milwaukee I always go to El Rey's they are the best 5 stars

Lines are long sometimes and cashiers don't know what to do others but you can find a lot of good stuff here.

Go to for my Latina food needs. Staff was kind and helpful, they went out of the way to seek customers in need. Found everything I was looking for with ease. Extreme selection for authentic Spanish cooking. From food to cooking wares.. the meat department smelled like a piece fell behind something and was forgotten. My only complaint.

A solid El Ray. I prefer the one on 13th because there is typically more reduced sale produce, but this location is fine. A plus is the tamales or champurrado being sold outside.

Good place to buy fruits and vegetables. Also very good selection in meat and poultry. Groceries are usually cheaper in other places.

This is one time I can say I hate going to this store. Three times I've been there and visited the hot food section, and be the only one there waiting for help. I find myself hopeful when someone looks up and sees me there then discouraged when they ignore me. Oh, but it gets worse, another person comes up and they walk right over and help them. This has haooen to me every single time I visited this store. I don't know if its because I don't speak spanish or what. But the people are rude, and they don't even apologize for their rudeness.
No business, or establishment that I have been too has ever treated me, the customer, so badly. And the food is not that great.
I recommend the other ElRays, the people there are very sweet, and the food tastes better. Its not dried out.response / report this review -

El Rey is my FAVORITE grocery store. They make their tortilla chips in house, they have the best cheese selection (South American cheeses) and whenever I'm done shopping I'm shocked at how reasonable their prices are. I LOVE El Rey.

Went to grab some hot food for a Mexican Potluck and it was just okay. I purchased some chicken fajitas as well as rice and beans. (Arroz con frijoles) It wasn't too bad but not what I expected. I was really disappointed to find out they didn't have bean dip as I called prior to going and I thought they had it.

Unfortunately, I frequent El Rey often because it's just blocks from my house and convenient. The prices are out of this world, the meat department always has the strangest smell back there but the biggest problem is the customer service. I have been inside this store probably close to 100 times and NOT ONCE have I felt welcomed. The cashiers are so incredibly unfriendly and unwelcoming. The lady who works at post office/cigarette counter is always nice though. It's a shame because this store is constantly busy and obviously does a lot of business so why not treat their customers with some kindness and at least SMILE at you!! The store itself is very festive and decorated beautifully but too bad the cashiers ruin the atmosphere.

Love this place! Friendly staff and great deals on meats but they could cut the prices down a bit on produce and cheese/dairy prices are ridiculouseverything else I buy from there.

The hot tamales are good & the horchata is delicious, but the service sucks. I feel very unwelcome everytime Ive gone, and will no longer spend my money at El Rey.

Pork rinds! The butcher cases look awesome. The produce is all in great condition. I wish El Rey was closer so we could shop there more often.

I Love going here with my Wife, because El Rey also has a Restaurant inside the Store. You can go to the Bakery also, and bring your Donuts or whatever you decided to get, to the Restaurant Area and get some of El Rey EXCELLENT COFFEE to go with your Bakery goods. The Tacos are awesome, actually I never ordered something from El Rey Restaurant that wasn't absolutely delicious!!!
When at El Rey, you need to go to the very back of the Store, and look at their MEAT DELI. AWESOME THINGS FOR LOW PRICES!!!!
