The quality is up and down at this location. We know this but still frequent this El Chico. Tonight the chicken poppers were soggy, the tortillas in the enchiladas were almost too tough to cut, and very little cheese on top. One our plates needed a little more chili on top of the enchiladas, so we asked for some. We didn’t mention the poor quality of some of our items until the waitress informed us that the manager said next time we would be charged for the chili. As someone else mentioned - I think management might be the issue here. Inconsistent food and poor customer service. By the way our bill was almost $50 for 3 people. I’m sorry I ripped them off for the chili they should have put on there in the first place.

Mexican with more of an elegant flair.
It's obvious a chef prepares the food vs basic native cooking.

Prices can be high on some items especially guacamole made at your table with 1 1/2 avacados will cost you what a meal cost!

The give 20 percent off on Sundays if you bring a church bullitin or card.

A step up from simple tex mex.

Loss of a star due to pricing.

One of the better Mexican Restaurant in the area. Clean, friendly service. Food portions are smaller but good.

The food is good but. they screw you over on the 1/2 fajitas they have on sale for two. It's not a full order like it says. I pointed it out and the manager kept saying what do you want me to do? Well stop false advertising the meal! Seriously?

I hit their bar and had a nice stiff Margarita whilst waiting for my take out order. Although I'm not that crazy about the food here, the Margaritas are pretty darned good!!

1735: I am just going to give it to you straight. The place looks good. Servers are friendly.
But the most important thing about any eatery is the food.
Our app was bland and pretty boring. We gave it a 3/10
Red salsa was pretty much tomato sauce with chunks, It was boring and lacked any flavor, We tried adding salt hoping to bring out any heat that might be in it. I would give say its closer to if you blended up pace mild in a blender. 2/10
Entree - Ok so my wife is pregant and can EAT, I am a fatty and can EAT. Rice - tasted horrible. Beans - bland. Main courses we would give 3/10 maybe a 4/10 but we didnt even finish it. I am ex military and tried to eat as much as I could stomach. When you find yourself thinking that a 1$ taco from taco bell would beat it you are in the wrong place.
Desert - We had high hopes after such a horrible meal. I knew the brownie sundae thing couldnt get much worse. I knew it came out of a box and figured it would at least be ok..so they use that nasty water based soft serve icecream, cheap chocalate sauce and put that on a brownie that comes out of a box.

I have been to El Chico in a few other towns, I have never really tasted such poorly made food at one. Hell El Chico in Abilene Tx is actually quite popular. Why would you pay for 30$ish for two people to eat when you could easily go to a fast food place, get quick service, go home and eat food that doesnt score a 2/10.

I write this just to help others who might accidently decide to eat there.

The service was fast and friendly. They explained your options and made substitutions. The food and drinks were great. Loved our waitress! I would definitely recommend this place.
