I had avoided this restaurant for years. My last visit was not great regarding the food.
I went because I was invited and this time around it was a pleasant surprise.
Went during the week during lunch hour. It was not crowded and the service by Diego was great.
The food quality has improved, still room for improvement. The prices quite affordable for the large amount of food. I would return again to try other dishes.response / report this review -

I recently visited El Bucanero with my family. It was the best meal, the best service, and the best prices I have ever seen. I tried to find a similar restaurant when I got back to the NY area and nothing like it exists. There is no place where I can find the freshness, taste, variety, service and price anywhere. El Bucanero stands alone as the best seafood restaurant I have ever found while living in the NY area or in the Orlando FL area. San Antonio has a real gem in El Bucanero.

The experience at this restaurant is outstanding. I got a chance to hang out by the bar a couple of days ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience mainly because of the outstanding service I received from my Bartender.
The food has always been outstanding a little bit pricey but definitely worth it because the customer service is beyond the Spectrum of expectancy and this is one of San Antonio's biggest Staples around.
If you get a chance and you're in town don't pass up to get great service and experience authentic Mexican food not Tex-Mex where there's a big difference there. Here at this amazing restaurant.response / report this review -

First time here LOVED IT!! Really good drinks, and food. The pinapple with the ceviche is AMAZING!! It's huge, so be prepared to share with at least 4 people. The Calamari was really good too. My friend ordered oysters on a half shell (plain) and really liked them. Will definitely be back and recommend to family and friends.

This place is home for me! The qualify and the flavor of the food they serve is so authentic that we just don't go anywhere else!

Rarely do I ever give five stars. However, this place has gone above and beyond the competition. You have excellent food and service. It is as expensive as most seafood restaurants, but the freshness and quality of food is great. I do NOT recommend getting anything from the traditional menu. Have fun and explore the wonderfully creative artistry of their more innovative entrees. Ask for a michelada with shrimp. You won't regret it. Five stars.

The food was probably a 3 or 4, but the wait staff were amazing. The mariachi band was amazingly talented and out server was very attentive and kind. A different server helped us play a prank on one of the people at out table. Super nice people and we had a great time.

If you come to this place, make sure you come hungry, for you will be served in abundance! The food is delicious! There are many seafood options; feel free to ask questions and the waiters will help you! I tried out some shrimp with chamoy, mangoes, Japanese Peanuts, and other ingredients. The taste was amazing! It was definitely a hot weather food! You will not be disappointed. You will come out happy and full! Be also prepared to pay a generous tip, for the service is quick and efficient!
