Must to see if you're in Fort Myers area. Beautiful gardens beautiful beautiful views of the best of the Bay. Lots of History very educational. Great place to take children. have fantastic events throughout the year.

This is a national treasure and so much more than a peek at this icon's home. His botanical collection, his laboratory, the museum collection showcasing his inventions, and the evidence of his friendship and travels with Henry Ford and John Burroughs provide a delightful insight into the life of this genius.

My 9 year old daughter and I come here at least twice a year. We are natives but it has become a tradition for us. They do a great thing and give veterans and their families free admission on Veteran's Day and we come every year. Then she adds to her ever growing plant collection. Educational and beautiful views and plants!

Today was free for teachers to visit the estates. Thank you for all the hard work and repairs after Irma. It was plain to see the damage was extensive. My complaint about today, since it was a day for educators to visit, was about the older man working in the lab. He voiced some very strong negative opinions about "young people" today. Imagine if educators had these negative opinions about the young minds they are trying to inspire? I would hope they'd be fired. Many young people visit the estates with their parents who are hoping for inspiration. VERY disappointing ending to an otherwise perfect trip.

Tour was good and informative, but the lady running the cash register at the gift shop got a little rude with me for wanting to buy a single bottle of water with my bank card. First of all, it's legal tender. Second, if you have the card reader in your store you have a contract with the credit card companies to accept it as a form of payment, and third it's none of your business how I want to pay. I enjoyed the tour but that attitude right at the end causes me and my party to leave feeling irritated at the senselessness of the encounter.

Beautiful Establishment. It is amazing to think that if Mr. Edison still lived today he’d arguably have one of the if not the best houses in town. The way the house looks externally with the trees/gardens along with the fixtures in the home with a beautiful water view in the backyard (especially around sunset) is a MUST SEE if you are a visitor. They make it look very elegant around Christmas time with the lighting. The Edison home sits on McGregor Blvd., which is an amazing street to walk on with the palm trees along the walkways/sidewalks.

Great place to stop for a bit of history. Can easily visit in 1 hr or 4 hrs depending on how much detail you want. The staff are extremely knowledgeable. All them questions about the exhibits and you'll get unexpected demonstrations and stories. They are not shy about turning on historical vehicles and music players for guests.

Wow, what a find. As a Michigan native we all know about Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum. I never realized the Ford family spent the winter months on this gorgeous estate in Ft. Meyers. The Ford and Edison homes are well maintained. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing. Old time cars, swimming pool and bathhouse take you back in time all for a decent price. Prepare to walk, and have or buy water to keep hydrated!

Very cool lesson in american history I did the $30 guided tour which took about an hour and 15 minutes and it was well worth it. The property is beautiful with plenty of things to look at including both estates, Edison's lab, large museum, 2 gift shops, and a botanical garden. This attraction will keep you busy for at least a good 3 hours or so. After the tour you can go back without your guide and get a closer look at everything.

This is not the kind of place I would usually visit, but visiting here was a pleasure. Not only are the grounds stunning, but visiting in Edison's lab satisfied the geek in me. Have an even greater admiration for Edison's work now.

This was one memorable school trips.
Thomas Edison's lab was just fascinating. It is fortunate his home is local. He was very wise and a great work ethic. Our family likes to take friends when they are in town. My Mom loves the botanical gardens.response / report this review -

A very nice place to visit. It is educational for both kids and adults. We purchased the audio tour and we were able to finish everything in 3 hours. The staff suggested us to do the estate tour in the morning first when the weather was cooler and continue the museum where is indoor and under AC later. Do picked up a sheet by the museum entrance for scavenger hunt. Kids can earn a small price after they are answer all the questions. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to know more about Edison and Ford.

This is a very cool piece of history that was recommended by a friend. Just under an hour's drive from Port Charlotte in Fort Myers, it is a nice way to spend an afternoon. Wear comfy shoes, it is a lot of walking! The tours range from $15 to $50 and can be self-guided or narrated by one of the very knowledgeable experts. The museum, lab, house and gardens of Thomas Edison are filled with cool things to see and learn about. My science geek spouse LOVED it!
