Food was very tasty and there was a lot of variety to choose from. Great atmosphere and great views, also very good drinks here! Our Waitress and the host up front had a bit of an attitude, but besides that I would come back if I was in the area.

Stopped in for a late lunch (first time) and what a great time. Asked Samuel for craft beer recommendations and enjoyed his recommendations totally. Then went with the shrimp tacos and was so satisfied. So the food is great, the beer is great and the service is most attentive thus 5 stars or 2 thumbs up. Live on East Coast but look forward to coming back to enjoy more of the same. Good job Doc Ford's.

Solid food that keeps us coming back to eat here each year. The hamburgers are made with high quality Angus beef and cooked to the customers preference (I get mine done medium). The new location is an improvement as the atmosphere is comfortable, and there is outdoor and patio seating available to take advantage of nice weather most days! Fun history with the Doc Ford novel series!

Amazing place for dinner. We were seated with no wait on Sunday night. Server was super friendly and helpful to find the best meal for us. Fried calamari we're awesome and super hot. Great experience and definitely will be back

First time visiting Doc Ford's on Sanibel for lunch. The atmosphere was very nice but it was outdone by the food, which was fantastic. The taco salad was the best that I have ever had. My son had the shrimp scampi tacos. He couldn't stop raving about how good they were. My wife had the Cuban pork sandwich. It was huge and equally delicious. The menu spans the gambit from appetizers to full evening meals. There is seating outdoors as well as in. Definitely recommend trying this restaurant.

The food was good but the portions we're not as expected. I ordered a lobster roll and I can only assume the other half must fell off the plate cause the roll was extremely small. Good non the less

Came here for lunch and dinner. Service was outstanding both times. The menu has a wide variety of food. Hard to choose because everything looks good. Food is delicious! I recommend the rib eye!!

We love to dine at Doc Ford's while staying on Sanibel but our last visit wasn't up to par. I ordered the tropical salad (with chicken) and my husband ordered the Yucatan shrimp. My husband loved his shrimp but mentioned several times that our waitress Brenda was not friendly at all. My issue was paying $17.95 for a salad that was mostly greens. The mandarins were soggy and tasted old. There were maybe 10 dried cherries and I had to ask for the pecans because they never made it into the salad. For $17.95, you should receive a full chicken breast but I didn't receive even half of that. The waitress suggested I order the drink of the day which was a mango margarita. It was terrible as well. I took one drink of it and not another. The real problem was when we went to purchase a t-shirt for my husband and the hostess and Brenda were talking and seemed completely bothered by us. I wasn't going to write a review because everyone has a bad day but after reading some of the other reviews, the negativity revolves around the employees not caring about their job. Yesterday we went to the Bubble Room and received excellent service. If the management doesn't focus on the staffing issues, they will lose a lot of customers.

The atmosphere was very plain not much effort into the decor. The service was friendly. The food was good but was served warm, almost cool. Don't be fooled by the ratings. It does not live up to the hype.

After an over-priced and lackluster snack and cocktail stop at another well-known establishment, I was a little reluctant to try Doc Ford's. Our food and service was fantastic. We look forward to returning. It's family friendly. The price point is medium but very fair for the quality and portions. This isn't a fancy place but it's a really great place to get a meal.

This isn't a five-star restaurant, but it's the most popular restaurant on the island. It was out on Rabbit Road for years, but recently moved to a great location right across from Bailey's. It's big, so even if it's full (likely) you probably won't have to wait too long. Good variety of food, including fish that you can trust to actually be what it claims.
If the name "Doc Ford" isn't familiar, you might want to look at Randy Wayne White's books where he's the main character, starting with Sanibel Flats.response / report this review -

A first rate place to eat; great food and a great view for the harbor and fishing boats. Staff is attentive and friendly. Doc Ford's of Ft Myers offers indoor and outdoor dining, as well as bar-side. Meals are moderately priced. Parking can be tight at Ft. Myers so some nights they have FREE valet parking to help out.

This place was awesome. We came back multiple times while in Sanibel because the food was so good. I would highly recommend the ribs. They've got amazing flavor and honestly taste better than most of the BBQ places around. The staff are really friendly too!

Went for dinner and drinks. The new building is good but if you sit in certain areas you can watch the sunset quite a bit. Some of the windows need a shade option for that sunset!!
Service and food was good. Drinks were delicious. They have a large assortment rums and a few beers, including local items that are IPA.
As for the deserts we tried them all and my favorites were the brownie and key lime pie. If you like carrot cake it is a huge portion (like all the deserts are)
This restaurant gets busy so plan ahead and make reservations.
