Cousin Ariel is a fantastic guide!! He arrived as scheduled with a big smile on his face. He shared his knowledge of the island, Pearl Harbor and Hawaiian culture and we learned so much! He has a wonderful sense of humor and plays the ukelele and sings! A true entertainer! We were so happy that we decided to do this tour rather than try to go it alone!

In September wife and I spent some time in Hawaii on our return from the mainland US. By pure chance we booked a full day Circle Island Tour through the hotel with Discover Hawaii Tours. It was one of the best experiences of our whole holiday. Our tour guide/driver was Keith Fujikawa and he was most helpful, friendly, had immense knowledge of the island and the places we visited and went out of his way to make our experience a pleasurable one. I can only commend Discover Hawaii Tours and especially Keith to visitors of the island.

Keith Fujikawa was our tour guidehe is extremely knowledgeable and affable. He set us up with great guides at all of the locations we went to at Pearl Harbor and Ford Island. Gary and I had an extraordinary day thanks to Keith and the Discover Hawaii team! I would highly recommend using Discover Hawaii, and especially Keith!

Was in Hawaii for a week on October 2017. Went on 4 tours. The one with Discover Hawaii was by far the worst. Complete waste of money. Upon arrival at airport they would not let us use the restroom. We skipped the first stop, arrived at second stop 1/2 an hour early. Lunch was a hot dog. No drink. Just a hot dog. And the guided tour was their guy pointing to a walkway. "Walk there and meet back here in 2 hours". Complete waste of time. Wrote to company on 10/18. It's now 10/31 and have not heard back. Very poor customer service. Not as advertised. I do not recommend.

Discover Hawaii Tours is a scam!!!! They operate under several website addresses. They charge you for services when they are not rendered. Just plan your vacation yourself and don't get sucked in! Make sure that you are at an official government website (.gov) when purchasing tickets to something like Pearl Harbor. Their site makes you think that you need to buy tickets in advance in order to go to Pearl Harbor and that it's always sold out. Wrong!!! The tickets are FREE! I didn't know that. They charged me $98 for tickets to something that is absolutely free to the public! They said that entry was guaranteed and that is what I was paying for. You can get in any day of the week as long as you get there early. When I learned this about 6 hours of buying my tickets online, they refused a refund!!!! No service provided. The purchase was made online in the middle of the night. I called them first thing in the morning and they said "sorry, we can't help you. you should have researched more and we have a no-refund policy if not 48 hours in advance." IT'S A SCAM!!!!!

We scheduled a Pearl Harbor Tour. The shuttle was thirty minutes late. I called at the 10 minute mark to get an ETA and spoke with Karen, who was nice, even though she couldn’t give me an ETA. I called again at the 20, 25, and 30 minute mark and was sent to voice mail. At the 30 minute mark, she did call my mother in law – this was when the bus was pulling up.
I don’t write bad reviews, what compelled me to write this review was the bus driver’s attitude, not even necessarily at the beginning of the trip, but what he said at the end.
We were understandably frustrated when the bus arrived. Ariel (aka Cousin K), the tour guide, stepped off of the bus to call for us. We asked him about our missed time at Pearl Harbor – he heard our frustration and immediately minimalized our concern by saying, ‘All Aloha, we’re on island time cousin’. He didn’t answer our question. We responded with, ‘What about the 30 minutes?’ Yeah we’re a bit more frustrated. His response was, ‘You are not going to board that bus with that attitude, you’re on vacation (I’m not actually, I work here), relax, I got you covered cousin.’ *note, no apology given.
I have been on several tours over the last 10 months – never have they been 30 minutes late – maybe ten. My experience with the Hawaiians is that they are Aloha, sweet and understanding, accommodating. Ariel was the first to dismiss my concerns – minimalize them. I’m not sure about what transpired to make the bus that late – but it wasn’t due to myself, nor my family.
So we shut up. We got on the bus, picked one more person up and preceded to Pearl Harbor. Ariel continued to call us cousin – sometimes numerous times in a sentence. While this normally wouldn’t annoy me, it is an honor, it felt completely false coming from Ariel. Ohana do not treat each other with a marginal minimalistic approach of interest.
We either swallowed our frustration or lost our tour. We elected to take a Lyft back to my family’s hotel instead of riding back on the bus. We wanted to walk the grounds in leisure. I’m pretty sure they’d not push back the pick up time by 30 minutes to make up for their lateness.
When we informed Ariel of this, he said to me, ‘Girl, I hope you get your Aloha back’. He said this not once, but twice. This is what compelled me to write this. For him to assume I did not have Aloha in me – that I should just let go a chunk of time that was paid for and be okay and not question it, was quite frustrating.
This is not a one star review, it is a two. I know the entire company is not Ariel and to judge a company by one employee would be unfair.
Yeah, I suppose he was right in a way, my Aloha for him was not there. And Ariel, if you read this, two things 1) a simple and sincere apology at the get go would have had my Aloha back 2) My Aloha came back in the form of Nelson, a Lyft driver, who gave us a ride around Chinatown.response / report this review -

I recently visited Oahu with my boyfriend (for both of our first times) and fell in love! On our 3rd day we enjoyed the Circle Island Tour + Pearl Harbor by "Discover Hawaii Tours". Our guide's name was Kona a native to the island and an AMAZING tour guide! He took us ALL over the island and was able to give us so many interesting facts about local places and the people! He was very funny and seemed to really enjoy his job which is always a plus! We were both so impressed with him I'm not only writing this review for him but also contacting corporate to let them know of our wonderful experience :). He truly made this an excellent experience for all of us on the bus that morning! Thank you Discover Hawaii Tours for a truly fantastic new experience!

We did the volcano tour on big island. Unfortunately the helicopter flight was chanceld due to bad weather.. It was said that round about 50% of the Helucopter flights are chanceld. The following Bus Tour on Big Island is absolutely boring and not worth the money nor the time.. Taking into account that we flew in from Oahu for this, i have to say it was truely a lost day.

We did the Pearl Harbor and Oahu Circle Island Tour with John Jr, a native from the east side of the Oahu island. He was amazing. He spoke the language and new the island extremely well. Besides a great singer (he stopped several times and sang to us Hawaiian songs with his Uke), he knew so much about the island. It was a 6:25A to 5:30P tour but the day went by so fast. Best tour we've had from Sydney to Honolulu for our trip through the Polynesian Islands. Fantastic!!!! Fantastic!!! Fantastic!!!

My wife and I were visiting Honolulu for the first time from England. We visited the Pearl Harbor memorial. Our day was made even more memorable by our fantastic tour guide and driver Jeremiah (aka COUSIN MAYA). He alone deserve the 5 stars on his performance. He was respectful, very welcoming, and smart. He has encylopedic knowledge of the area, the monuments. There was never a dull moment in our group.
