Had a great day of December hiking. This place has a reputation for crowds but not too bad today. Well-marked and maintained trails, nice visitor center, all you could want and close to Charlotte

This is a great place to hike with the family. We have kids from 8 to 11 years old and have been on all of the trails even those rated "strenuous". There are great views from the top of both peaks!

This place is great!
We hike - and this is a great place to go!
Close to Charlotte, but the views are wide open and not views of the city!
So much to see on the ground in the trees and rocks, and up in the sky!
There are trails here for all skill levels. Everything is pretty well marked, and the maps are spot on.
The staff in the welcome center was very nice.
Don't be turned off by the busy parking lot - with all the trails and service roads, it is easy for people to spread out.
Take the water and carb refueling food - it is easy to pick up a new trail and just keep going!

Got an opportunity to climb to the top of this mountain. Every person we met on way up and down was courteous and offered great advice. My only disappointment came from some hecklers who were hiding and calling my husband and I the N word.

Crowders Mountain is one of the best hiking spots so close to such a major town, I have lived in various other cities across the US but haven't come across many as good as Crowders within such a short drive. Love the Tower Trail, Pinnacle Trail and the Crowders Trail. Gets a bit packed on the weekends as expected, but still a good place to go hiking nevertheless.

Love this place! For a beginner the trails there are great! But there are some more challenging trails as well. The views from Kings Pinnacle and Crowders Mountain are well worth the hikes! You have to hike with all your gear to the Campground, which is a nice practice run if you're looking to get into doing some backpacking.

Nice little park. If the weather is nice get there EARLY. Te parking lot is very small and they will close it. Great views from the top!

Beautiful scenery along with challenging hiking trails. Definitely a place you want to visit to see the beautiful overview of the towns below along with miles of forest. The staff at the center were very helpful and in spending time with us to go over some other trails and what they have to offer. Highly recommend taking the challenge on the trails!

Well-maintained and very popular spot for weekend hikers. There are two trails to the top. Even the easier trail is quite strenuous. The view from the peak is breathtaking and you can get a good view of downtown Charlotte on a clear day.

My family and I love the hiking trails and the camping. Make sure to get there early so you'll have time to set up camp and enjoy nature. They have restrooms and water right by the campsites. See you out there and have fun!

Great park to visit and hike. Pets allowed. Hike up, relax, take in the views,take in a bite to eat, hike down. Rinse repeat. Bring water and snacks. Bring a phone/camera. Enjoy yourself.

Crowders Mt. State park is a wonderful small park just outside the Urban environs of Charlotte. A short hike to the top of the ledge will reward you with excellent views of the Charlotte Skyline. There are a few decent ledges for climbing and rappelling as well.

Trails, trails, trails, and more wonderful trails. You can try strenuous trails (we made it up Backside with it's 336 steps and steep incline), or settle for a peaceful day at Lake trail that circles the park lake. There are plaques throughout the park that celebrate unknown local history as well as a visitor's center with water, snacks and the most knowledgeable staff! This is a wonderful way to entertain the family and get some well needed exercise too!!

I love this park. The staff is amazing. And the trails offer everything from a nice stroll to a fairly challenging summit. Hawks drift on the thermals at King's Pinnacle. Lots of bird to watch and listen. It can get really crowded on nice days so go early for good parking or access to a picnic bench.

I enjoyed being able to walk on the trails and see the landscape from the top of the peak. There were quite a few people around, which is sometimes annoying (though this was on the weekend). So far in my visits I've been on two trails and did one of the orienteering courses, and I thought that they were fun and in good shape. The staff inside the main building were all super nice and helpful, and the building itself was very clean and well maintained.
