Join us for a special event day in honor of the grand opening of our next traveling exhibit, Native Voices: New England Tribal Families! All activities are included with admission.
During the event, guests will have the opportunity to interact with and learn more about the Eastern Band Cherokee indigenous people. Guests will meet artists or “tradition bearers” that reflect the Eastern Band Cherokee's traditions through different art forms.
In addition to the extra programming, Native Voices will be open for exploration on the second floor. Toboggan down a hill in Maine. Explore a cranberry bog on Martha's Vineyard. Learn about daily life at the Nuweetooun Tribal School. Design beautiful jewelry in the quahog jewelry shop. Assemble a clambake of clams, seaweed, lobsters and much more!
Native Voices was produced by Boston Children's Museum. All underlying materials, including all artwork and the use of Native Voices characters are used with permission of Boston Children's Museum. This exhibit is sponsored locally by The Lyndhurst Foundation and Novatech.

Beautiful landscapes provide a sense of place and a dramatic backdrop for fun, interactive learning. Stunning objects from Boston Children's Museum's collection as well as historic and contemporary photos all tell the story of resilient cultures carefully balanced between traditional practice and the contemporary world. Visitors meet members of the Passamaquoddy and Penobscot of Maine, the Narragansett of Rhode Island, and the Aquinnah Wampanoag and Mashpee Wampanoag of Massachusetts as they explore a native school, museum, Pow Wow, artist's workshop, and grandma's kitchen.

The Museum changes out the upstairs exhibit multiple times a year. Lots to do! Our almost 5 year old and 2 year old sons had a great time exploring. We did everything in just under 2 hours. I’m not sure why they charge parents to get in though? Other children’s museums we’ve been to in TN only charge for the kids to come in and play. So it was overpriced in our opinion.

We live in the Chattanooga area and try to get to the CDM every once in a while. We went today for my son’s 2nd birthday and I was disappointed. For one thing, the staff member working the register made me pay full price for him. Yesterday he would have been free. Seems a little unnecessary. (As a side note: making parents pay the same as kids seems a little ridiculous. We don’t play. My family doesn’t come to the museum more often because it’s pricey compared to somewhere we can go - like the zoo - and the adults actually enjoy it, too.) Also, the museum seems a little run down. Some exhibits weren’t working and it was very hot inside. I get that things break or get worn out, but a sign explaining that would give the appearance that you’re aware, working on it, and care about our experience. We don’t intend to make a trip back any time soon.

Last week I took my youngest to check things out and possibly purchase a family membership since I'm a stay at home mom and we already have zoo and aquarium memberships. I haven't been to this place in quite some time and was very disappointed. Certian areas just didn't seem very maintained. While we were playing in the yellow house (which my 17 month old enjoyed) I watched a staff member take the toys from the container marked for if they have been in a mouth and just toss them back in their bins. It made me wonder if anything in the place is ever cleaned or properly sanitized. Why even have a bin if you just toss them back in for other kids to spread germs? Now don't get me wrong I know kids pass around germs, but this was a bit unsettling to watch.

I really wanted to like this place especially for a fun rainy day activity. Kinda disappointing.

We had the best time!!!! My boys loved the whole place as did my husband and I!!! We got to do crafts, dig for Dino bones, see a live bees nest, and learn all kinds of stuff!!! It was amazing!!! The food was fairly priced it didn’t cost an arm n leg for the 4 of us to eat!!! Win win in my book!!!

We are members. My grandson loves it! The play areas could be kept a little more tidy. His favorite is the kitchen area and was not well kept when we were there. There wasn’t an employee in that room the several times we were in there ! Other than that was a blast!!!

So much fun for the whole group! The water play area was a huge hit. Cafe had a well rounded menusomething for everyone! Even though I’m from Knoxville, I applied our tickets to a Grandparents ‘ membership for just $35.00 extra. I will be going again!

I have been going here for yrs and always enjoy it. However I think my son has outgrown it now. Only thing I extremely dislike is the price. I just don’t understand why the parents have to pay. Just a bit pricey for that. Lots of kids miss out on getting to enjoy this on account of that fact alone.

Recently visited from Knoxville with my 9 yr old daughter and 4 yr old nephew. The museum was great fun for both age groups. The kids had a fun time throughout the whole museum. Would like to send a special thank you to Jonathan working in the gift shop. He helped my nephew pick a dinosaur toy and then made a big deal of hiding it in the back room so nobody else would buy it before we came back at the end of our visit. There were 20 more on the shelf just like it but my nephew was sure it would be gone when we came back. Jonathan could have just blown him off but he made Cole feel special & happy. Congrats on choosing employees who excel at working with kids!

My grandsons and I were disappointed! It needs to be closed down and given some much needed tlc. Many of the “machines” were not working. 2 balls are not nearly enough for the track. Really??? Children would enjoy returning if activities were swapped out now and then.

As the main focus of our day trip to Chattanooga, we were pretty disappointed in the museum overall. Having to pay full-price for our 2 year old and two adults seemed a little overboard considering there wasn't too much he could do. The few exhibits that were dedicated to his age didn't seem to be monitored or enforced at all, several 8-10 year olds playing in the 4 and under sections making it near impossible for him to actually partake. Everything was a mess, only saw two employees the entire time. All of the hand sanitizers were empty. There were no clear instructions given upon arrival, did not see the maps until we left. We spent less than an hour there. Has a lot of potential to be a super great museum with some organization, but was impossible to enjoy as it was.

I love that this is un-guided. This was my second trip there. The first time we went to every exhibit and played. This time my daughter(age 3) only wanted to enjoy the water tables, kitchen set in the ship and the sand box. I devoted this day to her and what she loved, PLAYING! She had a blast and we took all the time she wanted in each area. I did notice they are wonderful with security, privately monitoring the entire place and taking action when a child went out without their parent. Great place. We will be back soon! Only reason I don’t give this 5 stars is the price of the gift shop. We left with a $30 stuffed dog 😳

My family visited the museum while on spring break. We all had a blast! There are so many different things to do and explore. It is definitely a hands on learning experience. If you can't or don't want to run around after your child for hours and at a fast pace this is not for you! �

Huge fun place! Kept my twin 10 year old boys and my 8 year old girl busy for over 4 hours! Wanted to go hiking but could not due to the rain- great replacement to burn energy with educational activities.
