Both the Chicago and Arlington Heights locations are great. Excellent beer selection, friendly staff and a varied menu. Burger choices are solid. Recommend Cortland's without hesitation.

Apparently this place changed management recently, and it's really disappointing. Used to be a great place for good food, beer and to watch (with sound) a game. We got some severely subpar nachos (used to come here just for those nachos) and had to listen to trivia over the final game of the World Series and a Hawks game. Plus our waitress didn't know what Lagunitas was. At a bar.

I really liked the bar's interior and the waffle fries. It has a homey feel. However, I felt like my friend and I were generally ignored the whole night. We waited a long time before someone took our drink order (there aren't great gluten free options). She never returned to take our food order so we had to flag someone down and again to get the check. I left thinking never again.

Came here for the sole purpose of Trivia! My group of 6 snagged a table and added 2 chairs on the side, though we were warned that if it got busy, they would take away the 2 chairs for safety reasons since it was semi blocking the exit path (kinda, but not really..) though luckily, it didn't get very busy.
The food was good for what it was - American bar food. Though I will say the nachos were superb and felt like a good deal for just $10!
The trivia was 1 by Geeks who Drink so it wasn't done via the TVs but instead, 1 guy announcer and the teams running up to give him the answers after each round. Super bonus points because there were extra questions that allowed you to win a free beer! So awesome!
My group ended up dominating that night and we won the 1st prize which was a $30 certificate to Cortland's Garage. Awesome! Can't complain bout free food. Team #hypnotoad .. or as I thought it was spelled #Hipnotoad..
Things to note:
Great for groups since they split checks easily

Unfortunately, the quality of burgers has declined as compared to a few years ago. There are other options within a mile of this location that deliver better burgers these days. Their beer list is fairly decent. It tends to be very crowded, particularly on sports days.

Great neighborhood chill place. Food was above par. Staff was attentive and friendly. Recommend the chilli lime fries.

Hopped off the train from the burbs looking for some brews and a bite to eat on a Sunday afternoon and had a pleasant, laid back time at Cortland's Garage. I'd been to the location in Arlington Heights before and while this has a similar vibe, it exudes an originality that can't be recreated. I had the grilled cheese which lacked a little flavor. The portions were large and nicely presented. I'll be back once the good weather appears and they open the garage door!
