Absolutely beautiful! $15 bucks got us into the beach, and it was not busy granted it was a bit cold to be there but we came from Peoria, AZ so we didn't care much! Clean and had a shower and bathroom facility. I can't wait to go back!

My new favorite beach in southern California. Its a small beach situated south of Balboa Island. You can surf on the beach, fish off the jetty; watch boat/sail boat coming out of the harbor; swim on the jetty side protected from the open water waves for your young ones Absolutely wonderful.

Nice beach but can get too crowded by our inland friends on hot days. Tide pools are nice (during the right tide height of course). Waves can be fun but are mostly closeouts. Do not be the guy that takes a surfboard down to look cool but can't surf. Your girl will laugh at you when the lifeguards tell you that you can't surf there.

Love this beach! Great place for the kids to play. Parking is close. So close I could carry my daughter with a cast on her leg down to feel the water. This was on a Thursday I'm sure it's packed on the weekends. 1.50 an hour weekdays parking can't beat it.

Lots of fire pits. Lots of space to hunker down. Right next the shoreline and the beach as well. Great for large groups. And parking is $4/hr or you can walk down instead. Recommend life guard tower 3 proximity. Have fun.

This is one of the best beaches to take kids because it has rock formations that are covered in sea life. Crabs of all sizes, muscles, sea snails and anemone's. The waves do not get to big normally. It is very nice.

This is a well kept beach with a very nice cove. The tide pools are very cool and you can snorkel in shallow waters and see sharks. I like the calmer waters, clean restrooms and fire pits. It's pricey to park and lots are often full. You can street park however the walk down isn't easy and you'll have to be up on your parallel parking. They do have a three minute drop off and pick up which is nice if you have coolers or older family. Also know that there are no food or drinks available on site.

Thoroughly enjoyable. The food leans toward the upscale end of beaching experiences but still had options welcoming to the budget conscious.
Note there is a distinction between coal only fire pits verses ones that allow wood burning - using wood in coal pits is subject to fine (so we were told). The views of the horizon as well as the homes were ambition inspiring. The people there seem especially easygoing. Hope this helps!

A fine beach for swimming in the surf. The nearby channel jetty creates a harbor effect so the waves and breakers are milder. Parking lot fills up quick on summer weekends so get there before 9am to find a spot without a hassle. If the parking-lot is "full-do not enter" then you can search the nearby residential streets for a parallel spot. After 4pm people are leaving and spots free up.

It's a nice beach, a little crowded and trying to get a parking spot is at time an exercise in futility. I suggest getting in before 9 am to get a great spot.

My favorite beach in OC. You can walk along the bluffs in the nice neighborhood and pet a million dogs(!) or walk the nice beach. Swimming is great here. Plenty of open water swimmers come out here to train by swimming along the buoys. Just don't staple bloody steaks to your wetsuit first.

This is a great beach. It used to be a "little secret" but it's out now. It offers a great combination. Excellent view from street level. A great, large sandy beach bordered by tide pools on one side and a jetty on the other. You will see marine life at this beach, especially near the tide pools. It's also a clean beach. Has restrooms and showers. Lifeguards patrol the beach during the busy months. You may even see a large marine life like I did. See pictures.
