I ordered sawblades from Cook's. It was the worst welding job I have ever seen! The band was cut and welded right in the middle of a tooth resulting in a spur in the gullet. When the sharpening finger caught the spur, it would grind off the top of the next tooth. It cost me a lot of time and money babysitting these blades through the sharpener. Additionally the back was not straight and the saw sounded like it steam train chugging as the crooked weld passed over the guide rollers.
I will still get my parts for my cat claw sharpener from Cook's but I will definitely go elsewhere for blades!

I'm giving 5 stars for my recent purchasing experience. I just purchased two 25" band wheels and two 1.5" retrofit guide rollers for my DIY sawmill. The salesman was very helpful and spent a good 30 min. on the phone answering questions and providing good info to help me with this build. Ive read great things about Cook's band wheels from forums on the net. Hopefully I will not be disappointed. Also, I've been buying cases of 144" band blades for the last year and been very happy w the blade quality and customer service.

My Take: It is a small company that has become widely successful because of a well built product. It has grown beyond their expectations and customer experiences may suffer because of it. It was a 8 week turn around time for blades getting sharpened and with their shipping charges I had $20/blade to have them sharpened. There is a long wait time to have your mill manufactured. Their mill is well built and works well but must have patience with the company.
