Left feeling upset and disappointed. This wild park shouldn't even be allowed to be open. Those animals aren't being well taken care of, cages are way to small. Most of the wild animals paced back and forth because of how small the cage is. They DO NOT belong there, they are suffering. its pretty sad. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

It's small and a little rugged (dirt paths) but the kids love it. Well worth the trip. The food isn't that great so I would definitely eat outside of the zoo.

Very cool stuff here. Definitely a different style from a very made-up type of zoo. Pretty much all the exhibits here are just animals in their habitats.. Not a bad thing, though, since there's a huge number and variety.

You can get "close to the animals" as the website States but the only ones that you can feed are the few in the petting zoo and if you are there for the animal "talk" you can feed the very cool giraffe, Jethro who currently is about 15 months old. I don't know if they offer additional feedings through the day as we were only there until about 1:30 pm. The terrain is hilly and a bit Rocky in spots, but it is in the woods which is nice in warm weather. There are a lot of different animals. I enjoyed the animal show at 1 pm. The environment is natural and woodsy. There is a lot of shade which is nice. The website does offer a coupon. The signs offer good basic information about the animals and most were easy to view during our visit. The gift shop had some specific merchandise as well as basic animal merchandise, some seemed a little pricey but other was very reasonable. It all depends on what you are looking for. Overall the park seemed ok, a little muddy due to rain that had been in the area recently but otherwise what I expect in an animal park. There are several unique animals such as the singing dogs that I have not seen often.

Family road trip to this hidden gem! 90 mins and done! Loved it. Be prepared to walk over rocky walkways with lots of dirt. You are in the woods, wear closed toe shoes if you don't want to get dirty, bring bug spay if they bother you. Great views if the animals. Great day for the kids!

This place is AWESOME! My girl friend and I brought our two sons, ages 3.5 and 9, they both had a blast. All the animals are friendly, all visible on our trip. There are staff members walking around with animals, asking you if you want to pet them. You are able to pet and feed giant tortoises. There are a lot of different animals and exhibits! Lots of animals to feed and pet. We got a kiss from a giraffe while on this trip. I would absolutely come again. It's so cool cause it's woodsy and you actually feel like you're a part of nature. All the animals look well fed and happy. We spent 3 hours here. I could see this being an all day thing if you want to see all the shows but we arrived late in the day when it's not too crowded.

My family took a trip here just today and we had a blast. There were a lot of cool animals to look at and some you could even pet. We did not see any of the shows but I'm sure they are great especially for the younger kids. Although some of the animals were asleep it made sense because they were nocturnal. I would definitely recommend this place to others in the area.

Great visit with family. It takes about 90 min to see all. I do agree with others who say that some animals do not have enough room to run and all but after all since they live in captivity, I think they are no longer wild animals since they lost all their hunting skills so maybe it's not so bad for them?? Anyway, great price it does get filled on weekends. Decent value for the price. Enjoy!!

Was at the zoo about 2 years ago so this is a very "late" review. I am planning to bring a friend's kids there soon so was surprised to see so many negative reviews.
This zoo is a privately held zoo with no funding from the state, government, etc. It is a zoo that is set up to rescue and provide a home for animals that may have otherwise been destroyed. These animals cannot survive in the wild, so Claws and Paws is doing a big-hearted thingdoing the best it can with what it has, with the animals that have come to them. If you have seen "We Bought a Zoo" with Matt Damon, this is like that (but real-life!).
The zoo has a large variety of animals and allows entrants to interact with them, closer than many other zoos. There are no fancy walkways or graphics, shows, enclosures or lights. No architecturally designed enclosures. It is a down-to-earth private zoo. Your kids will love it and your family will get to know monkeys, giraffes, lemurs, leopard, tigers, bears, camels, sheep, etc.
Some of the enclosures are small but it there are limited resources and space. It seems that the owners are doing their best to apportion what they can do for the best. Watching the zoo keepers taking care of the animals, it is clear to me that they love their animals. The zoo is worth the visit. If you love to see rats this is definitely the place to visit. Within minutes of walking in I saw the first rat. 20 minutes later I walked out because I couldn't handle the amount of rats I encountered. They have some nice animals but they are not taken care of. Definitely would not recommend to anyone

We had an amazing time here. I'm glad I didn't go by all of these ridiculous reviews. My 2 year old LOVED IT. the animals were fun to see and actually interacted with us, especially the monkeys and pigs. The staff is helpful and super friendly.
If people are complaining about animals in cages, they shouldn't be going to a zoo. The cages seemed fine honestly. They were clean and the animals were moving around pretty freely.
If you are expecting to see the giraffe, he is no longer there. He passed away last year,

I use to go when I was little late 80's early 90's. Its changed alittle. Souvenir shop downsized on what I remember having. We just took our daughter there for her birthday. Loved hearing the Lions and Jaguar roar. Animals are more active and you are closer to them then any other local zoo. Worth the drive.

I love this place! This was my third time here and my entire family had a great time!
I love the way everything is set up in the middle of the woods, which is different than the industrial feeling of other zoos.
