This cozy 55 plus gated home Park is situated on a former orange grove and abbuts to an upper class subdivision; roughly 7 miles from Barefoot Beach. The community has all kinds of clubs and activities happening every day of the week, both indoor and outdoor to suit most tastes. Many folks find navigating their little neighborhood paradise by bicycle adequate to make trips to outdoor pools, tennis court, softball diamond with hotdog stand beer shack, shuffle board court, or visiting friendly neighbors. Rec Hall has dances, live music and local drama events; as well as food specials and beer/wine or softdrinks available. As people tootle around in their golf carts it reminds me that growing older doesn't have to mean being inactive. The one draw back is that there is the potential or susceptibility to shallow flooding in some areas from the Imperal River. That is why i gave Citrus Park only 3 stars. I would hope that the inconvenience of occasional flood water would keep lot rents affordable. For most people, cleanup is swift and a full recovery expected except for some of the more hurricane damaged units. Most people in the park seem very happy. Many travel from Northeastern States, including Canada to call this their winter home.

The management is very unsympathetic towards their elderly residents. A recently widowed 83 year old resident was fined $250 because a small bag of her trash was found outside the community dumpster. A helpful neighbor had taken it to the dumpster for her because she had broken her shoulder and knee a while back and doesn't get around very well. We think it might have fallen off his golf cart. When she went to the park office to discuss the matter, the office worker Christine was very rude to her. There is absolutely no proof that the lady put the trash on the ground, just proof it was her trash. She's lived there for 14 years and has always been a model resident. This fine is a huge portion of her limited monthly income and management refuses to listen to reason in the matter and insists the fine be paid. They should be ashamed of themselves.

A nice sprawling community where the residents are actively involved with each other.

We drove 10 1/2 hours to vacation near where our family used to visit our grandparents. We spent many vacations and holidays with them in Citrus Park. When we arrived at the park we asked if we could ride through and take a look at their old home. We gave their names and street address and other details to verify our information. The woman in the office was rude and inconsiderate. She showed no understanding. She acted as if we were lying, as though we came here for the reason of riding around the park towhat? Terrorize the neighbors? Private park or not, she and the guy at the gate who obviously loved what little power he has in life, we're rude and unkind. The least they could have done was offer us a half our visitors pass. We left having never gotten to see our grandparents home after 24 years. Not the Citrus Park we knew.

Everyone is so friendly, the grounds are well kept and clean with beautiful attractions near by plus an amazing farmers market just outside the gates. So many things to keep yourself busy and healthy.
