Soi hate giving bad reviewsi love to enjoy my food. Take this as you wish, but this was the worst food I've had in Pittsburgh in quite awhile. The two stars are for the atmosphere, above average cocktails, and complimentary valet parking. If I was basing my review just on food, it would legit be a zero. I know that sounds dramatic, but for a place that touts the "best seafood in Pittsburgh" and charges $30+ for an entree, it should at least be enjoyable and fresh, if not fantastic. The octopus was so chewy that it made me gag. The ciopino was so fishy that it made the broth fishy and became inedible. The crabcakes were not terrible but unimpressive. Overallif you're going to spend $30+ for a seafood meal. Do yourself a favor and go to eleven, or the whale, Union standard, or morcilla, amongst others. Sorry if it sounds dramatic but it was a huge letdown.
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. The waitress gave wonderful customer service, and the food was fantastic. The price was a little on the high end, but it was worth it. Before dinner, we were asked if it was a special occasion, and were given a free dessert to celebrate. Afterward we went to the cigar bar, which had great ventilation, and provided a good atmosphere to relax and enjoy a smoke. Would 100% return.
Great food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere.
This review is only for the service that I received in the cigar bar. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The place is beautiful, very tastefully done and it's selection of bourbons and whiskeys is impressive; however the services are not. Saturday night, game is on two tables and i sit at the bar. Bartender never introduced herself, and spent more time talking to her coworkers, epsecially the pastry chef about her boyfriend. I'm in the business so I am a bit more understanding than most, but the staff needs to know that service, as much as what they do or don't do effects the guest experience. That's why we come and pay the prices that we do. It's all about the experience from start to finish.
Excellent Dinner Quality and Service. This was our second visit to Cioppino's in last two years and it was outstanding. The cocktails, food prep, and service (Tom) were all superlative. We're from Connecticut and look forward to returning in the future.
The staff were exceptional, the drinks delicious and the vibe was completely grown & sexy!
Took my boyfriend to dinner for his birthday and had a wonderful time at Cioppino! The food is excellent, the wine list is extensive and the service is great! They really go out of their way to take care of you. We even got custom printed menus with Happy Birthday written on the top with his name on them, and a free ice cream cake dessert! Also had a chance to check out the cigar bar after dinner. It was awesome. There is a huge selection of cigars and whiskeys. In addition, there are other spirits/wine/beer options for those not too into whiskey. Overall, amazing date night spot!
Great place to relax and have a cigar Awesome live music.
Classy and sophisticated atmosphere with delicious salmon and octopus. Phenomenal selection of cigars. Service could be improved.
The food was great but for those prices the food should've been mind blowing, or at least unique. If you're really into classic, unoriginal pastas and the like this place will serve you well, however, I expect more from a top tier restaurant.
I will say that the desert sampler is phenomenal though. How often do you get to have a little bit of everything? More places should do the same.
Cioppino is now one of my favorite places to grab a drink in Pittsburgh. Very relaxed atmosphere and Andy is one of the most knowledgeable bartenders that I have ever met. He creates top notch drinks and is very passionate about his craft. The Fig Higgins with the fat washed Whistle Pig is by far my favorite drink on the menu. The price may seem a little high for a cocktail, but it is definitely worth every penny! I would highly recommend making the trip to Cioppino to anyone, and make sure to grab a cocktail from Andy.
