Dr. Samuels and Dr. Miller are educated nice people. I have a rabbit and a kitten and they took good care of both of them. With my rabbit's check up it was totally affordable, but with my kitten he's been in 2 to 3 times and each time I would go in for his standard shots they would give me a bill of $90. Dr. Miller insisted they do a stool test, check for leukemia, and all the results were NORMAL so I think the tests were not necessary!! If you're low income, I wouldn't recommend this place. Dr. Miller is pretty strange and foams at the mouth when she talks to you. Out of the two I definitely recommend Dr. Samuels.

Dr. Samuels is the best vet ever.. He and all of the staff at Central Animal Hospital truly care about the well being of the animals and the people they chose 😀 He takes the time to address every concern and makes sure nervous moms understand how to give meds properly, and more importantly, safely for mom and the cat.. They got me in the same day my boy woke up with an eye problem.. The doctor also has a great sense of humor and hired some very caring people The tech came out to say hello and walked is back.. Is nice to feel comfortable and welcome..

The vet tech in the front was really awkward and uncomfortable to deal with and probably should refrain from professions that require interaction with people. The male vet tech and the veterinarian were absolutely fantastic, they were gentle and seemed to truly love animals. I will use Central Animal Hospital from now on and just try to avoid eye contact with the gal in the front.

This is by far the best animal hospital in all of Tucson, imo. Both Dr. Samuels and Dr. Miller take the time to talk to you and treat you like a real person and your pet like an important part of your family, rather than a number, or just another client. Every time I've been there, they have taken lots of time to speak with me and answer every single one of my questions and/or concerns. They explained things I may not have understood completely, and let me know why they were important. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who loves their pets as much as I do. And especially for anyone as inquisitive as I am! :) The vet tech (I can't remember his name - Chris maybe???) is also incredibly awesome!

I needed a new reptile vet because my previous one came under new management and became pretty bad. I googled "turtle vet tucson" and these guys came up. They weren't too far away so I made an appointment and gave them a try.
I brought my desert tortoise in and met with Dr. Samuels who turned out to be amazing. He was very nice, very knowledgeable, and very easy to talk to. He gave me tons of information that I wasn't even there for. The office was very clean and the price for the exam was right in line with all of the other vets I've been to in town.
I will for sure be bringing my turtles and tortoises here in the future. If you are looking for someone to check yours out, I highly recommend Dr. Samuels and Central Animal Hospital. I can't speak to exams for more traditional pets (cats and dogs) but based on my tortoise experience, I'd not be concerned with bringing them here either.response / report this review -

Fantastic Experience! Great building, and caring docs. We needed a minor cyst removed and our previous Vet quoted us a ridiculous price. This was very surprising as we had been with them for over 14 years We're not cheapskates, but just felt like we were getting ripped off. The doctor was very caring, performing the surgery for less than 1/2 the cost of the previous quote, and even following up the day after.

My godmother referred me here when I complained to her about not finding any vets around Vail/Rita Ranch that I A) Liked. and B) Could afford.
I was SUPER impressed with CAH and Dr. Samuels! Their prices are very competitive, and the service is A+. Although it is a 45 minute drive for me, each way, I will definitely be going back here for my dog's regular needs in the future.
My senior citizen dog needed a benign tumor removed, and their quote was about 1/3 what I was expecting (and the price included take home meds and the follow up appointment). The vet techs and Dr. Samuels were both great with her, even though she is a bit skittish with strangers. She calmed down pretty quickly, which I was amazed at. Pleasant bedside manner is not a necessity at a vet really if they are competent, I know. But it was much appreciated. We just had her stitches removed, 2 weeks post op, yesterday. Easy peas-y. I dont even know where to begin
Dear Doctor Miller, rule number 1!!!!! in case you didnt learn that in school: DO NOT EVER ASSUME AND BASICALLY TELL ME THE DIAGNOSIS AFTER ONLY REVIEWING THE XRAY IMAGES!!!!
here is my story in short.
I discovered some mass in my 4 year old Welsh Corgi which felt like a fluid-filled cyst of some sort. Though my dog showed no signs of discomfort, I of course rushed to the vet. Dr Miller took a look and said we should check it out. So next day I bring my dog in for them to take xrays and as she told me the day before to do an "Aspiration"..
After my dog spent all day there, I come back at 3:30 pm, and Dr Miller tells me: so, we took xrays, and "as soon as I looked at the Xray, I right away realized its something bad, because the way bone looks on that xray ONLY could be one of 2 things: Valley fever (which could mimic bone tumor on the xray)or some serious tumor". Though I have a PhD. degree, I have zero knowledge in medical field. I was in total shock, started crying (some people are more sensitive and emotional then others) . Obviously, word CANCER most always is associated with word "BIOPSY". you dont need to be a doctor to know that. So, on top of basically sealing my dog's fate by looking at the xray, she announced that unfortunately, they cant do biopsy at their facility. I WAS NEVER TOLD until after that day that they cant even do a simple biopsy to send it out to a lab!!!
So, 400 dollars later, I was sent home with a business card to an oncologist so I could contact them to schedule an appointment. Called them, and the doctor was not available until the end of September. I called Dr. Miller's office back and explained the situation to which I got a response from this extremely rude guy saying "well, sorry but we cant control other doctors schedules and there is nothing else we can do". Well, luckily I am one of those that always digs deeper so I made some phone calls. Come to find out, nearly any local vet can perform a biopsy and you dont need an oncologist to do that!!!!
I immediately contacted some people and got an appointment the next day with another clinic. My poor dog had to go through the general Anesthesia all over again because careless Dr Miller didnt even bother telling me they couldnt do it there!!!
The doctor at the new clinic looked at the xrays and though saw some bone loss on that xray, said there is absolutely no way to tell exactly what that is until the biopsy results come back which of course makes sense. So that day I came home and started reading bunch of stuff online, everything from personal people stories to educational veterinary journal articlesI didnt spend 7 years in school and didnt have years of experience being a vet, but quickly learned that you have to be so EXTREMELY INCOMPETENT as a doctor to assume what she assumed by looking at the xray. I waited and waited and waited while still reading stuff. And believe me, I read A LOT!!!! About couple days later, Dr Millers office called me and that same rude guy told me valley fever came back as negative and I asked him again, are you sure there is really nothing else other then bad bone cancer or valley fever that could look that way on an xray, and once again heard the same answer. And finally my sleepless days were over yesterday morning, when the other doctor called me and said there is absolutely no signs of cancer in any of the samples they took; saliva samples, gum tissue samples and bone tissue samples. Of course I am very happy and very lucky and thank God I have little brains to not listen to some doctors who are clueless and not careful with words. Her lack of basic knowledge caused me a lot of tears for about a week until I got the biopsy results.
I am greatful that it wasnt one of those unfortunate cases when doctors overlook something serious and send you back home and some time later you find out it was something way more serious than what the doctor told you.what happened to me I can forgive, but I were one of those unfortunate cases, this doctor would pay a BIG price.response / report this review -

Friendly and knowledgeable staff that help you watch out for your pets as if they we're theirs, but dont judge or diss alternative methods, they simply provide paths to more info for those that arent aware. A little snug waiting room so do plan ahead for excitable pets to dodge an avoidable mishap. Big n small they do it all w/ a smile everytime I've been there!
