Carter Caves is a beautiful woodsy setting for an overnight stay. The cottages are beautiful and well equipped. We enjoyed the fireplace as did the children. The caves are fascinating! We toured one that was very interesting. Our guide was really knowledgeable and we all learned a lot. Only negative about our stay was the restaurant left a lot to be desired. It was buffet night and everything was over cooked with nothing fresh. Except for that we really enjoyed our stay. I would recommend the park and the cottages as the setting is very refreshing.
Carter Caves is a gem. They have great hiking, a lake, and enough caves that you can't see them all in a day. The 3 Bridges loop is a favorite trail and it will show you several arches and beautiful rock formations and an overall level hike so there wasn't a lot of elevation change. You pass several creeks and streams and run offs that are awesome when the water is flowing. The paid tours are awesome and show you an underworld that you wouldn't believe. Go and explore the area and you will not be disappointed.
I love Carter Cave's State Resort Park. I grew up in Carter County so we spent a lot of time there in the summer swimming and fishing. Now a group of my cousins and I meet there every every three months to spend the night in one of the beautiful cabins to catch up and share family news. It's still one of my favorite places to be. The last time I was there, as I was leaving I was lucky enough to see a red fox by the side of the rode. The animals are there in abundance and are a photographers dream. The hiking trails are beautiful and exploring the caves, although not my thing, is said to be a great experience for the spelunker. The park, although not well known, is not to be missed.
Incredibly fun place to go! Beautiful area all around. Had a great time! The tour guide was super informative and knowledgeable about the tour the history and the background of the caves.
Would recommend a tour to anybody! We took our tour with a 4yr old and didn't have a problem. Absolute great time, the tour was about 1 to 1.5hrs long.
I would recommend going on the "off season" the tours are smaller, meaning more one on one time with the guide and more time to ask questions.
They have a nice cozy gift shop filled with all kinds of neat stuff!
Place is awesome. I was way more impressed than I thought I would be. We rented a cottage during the off season in January. They offer military discount during the winter months. So the price of the cottage was very reasonable. More than reasonable, I'd say its a downright bargin. The cottage was a 2 bed, 2 bath, full kitchen and fireplace. Fully furnished with linens and kitchen supplies. Firewood is included and restocked daily or more if needed. Excellent trails to hike. Cave tour was very informative and exciting. Kids really enjoyed the trip. One of the coolest state parks I've ever stayed at.
This place is so great. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is amazing. So many activities if you want or cozy and quiet if that's your thing.
Carter Caves State Rezort Park is a wonderful place to visit. The caves are very interesting to visit and the scenery is beautiful. The lake is beautiful and the fishing is supreme. Hiking or any outdoor activity is better because of the beautiful scenery. Visit and you won't be disappointed.
Carter Caves State Park is great. The park is beautiful, there are many outdoor activities, and the restaurant in the lodge is great. There is a golf course, swimming pool, putt putt golf, camping areas, cabins, and nice rooms in the lodge, as well as the many cave tours. There is a really nice gift shop on the way into the park. Carter Caves also has activities throughout the year, as well as concerts and plays in the amphitheatre.
I was there for the Carter Caves Haunted Trail. It was probably the best haunted trail I have ever been to. The line was pretty long but it was worth it. It was also very well priced at $10. I would recommend this seasonal attraction to anyone .
Southern hospitality must start at the Ohio River! Every park employee that we encountered was extremely helpful and friendly. This is a beautiful hidden gem in the Kentucky State Park system. We visited on a quiet Monday in October and experienced Cascade Cave, X Cave, Natural Bridge Trail and Three Bridges Trail. We enjoyed every bit of it but the Cascade Cave tour with naturalist Paul was definitely a highlight.
Carter caves is a great place to go hiking, swimming (outdoor pools), horseback riding, camping and play golf. The lodge has rooms and a restaurant. They also rent cabins and picnic shelters. The best part is the cave tours. It's definitely a place to see.
Beautiful park for hiking, exploring, & caving. Spent 5 days here for vacation. Lots of rocks for kids to climb on, and a creek to play in. The lodge was nice, and good planned activities for families by park staff. The guided cave tours are a must see. Restaurant at the lodge was reasonable.
Ran the trails on a Sunday morning. Beautiful areas and relatively clean for the amount of use they get. Ate at the restaurant and had the buffet. A little pricey but food was very good. A great experience overall.
My family had a great time tent camping here Memorial Day weekend. Tons of interesting and beautiful nature to see and explore. Campground was clean and quite all staff interactions were friendly. Mini golf looked fun though we didn't play. Nice pool and good hiking trails. We plan to go back again sometime.
Beautiful trails, vary in length from less than one mile to a total of more than 25 miles, cross small streams tumbling over rock toward a small lake. Plan to take time to listen!
Numerous natural arches, carved by wind and water through limestone rock, dot the area and are perfect backdrops for photos.
Restaurant meals are tasty and varied and include Kentucky favorites such as catfish, Kentucky Hot Brown, burgers, chicken, salads, vegetables, and more. The breakfast includes biscuits the size of hamburger buns. The lodge is comfortable and clean.
This is a great place to take family, friends, or go alone. Trails for hiking, caverns for tours, horseback riding, Camping. Great scenery, clean park. Friendly staff and great prices . Every experience I have had has been awesome. Never disappointed!! I love this place!!!
Nice marked trails with a lot of options. Beautiful location. Caving is also a blast.
Beautiful on your own or with a guide! Some of the most beautiful geology in this part of the USA! I recommend the full three bridges trail. It takes you across the park on nice paths where you'll see stuff like this and so much more! My favorite park so far.
The park was beautiful! The buffet was very good. But when we were checking in we would not be able to use our fireplace. They gave us the room half off for the inconvenience. Turns out, it's not broken, it is infested with flies and wasps. We spent the first 30 minutes in our cabin swatting flies and wasps with a broom and broken fly swatter, but didnt manage to kill them all. Other than that, CCSRP is a great place to spend a day or two.
This is a very beautiful place. The camp grounds are really nice and spacious. The paths are clearly marked. The area is very scenic and good for taking lots of outdoor pictures.
