They rooms are "newly renovated" but I guess they never finished them. The heater in the room did not work, the bed sheets didn't fit the bed, the patio door whistled all night with the wind, none of the staff could seem to find hot tea And oh yeah, the Keurig is in the closet Not a good experience. On the up side, the food at the restaurant was very good, service was bad, but food was good.
Wouldn’t recommend until Renovations are completed. Very much a grand scale active renovation. . Had heard amazing things about this place yet the failed to complete their renovation before a large company party. The heater in the room did not work and it was 66 degrees with a thin sheet on the double queens when we asked for a king. When we called the front desk they advised the engineers weren’t in yet. The bathroom had construction dust and paint drips all over the bathroom. The art hanging above the bed was attached but quick release tabs were left where I’m guessing the art was first. The pocket door in the bathroom framing had not been completed and the door came off it’s track. Thank goodness my husband is Osha certified and was able to get the door open. The fridge was in the cabinet with no plug in. The room doors do not fully shut when you leave your room unless you make sure you pull it closed and give it a push to verify it’s locked. The rooms all had printed out room numbers tapped to the doors. We arrived in the dark and wow.. the next morning in the light really showed the huge amount of work still ahead in he renovation. In a previous review on trip advisor someone had commented on the hotel responded back saying that the rooms were going to be refreshed and that they were perfectly done well if this is one of the refreshed rooms has a lot of work to still needs to be done. Other then that the food was great
Looks like it getting remodeled now. Went to the "Lariat", a restaurant, and enjoyed Thanksgiving Dinner, a special menu for the evening. Decent food served on white tablecloth covered tables in a relaxed atmosphere with piano player in the corner Mother had a nicely made Manhattan for seven bucks. Service was good but informal with quips like; "hows those salads go'in?". Old Spanish style chairs will be updated soon, along with nearly everything else based on informative poster boards next to the main entrance. Should be checked out once it's been updated.
Facility was under construction so there was some unwanted noise and facility challenges. Though, likely a good thing to update the older and outdated rooms. I had frayed bedsheets in mine in addition to a shower that struggled to spray and bathroom sink issues.
Food, however, is a completely different story - everything was delicious and exceeded expectations. Resort staff were nice - not overly helpful, but nice enough.
Omg they just renovated and the rooms are BEAUTIFUL! The pool just needs some furniture, the food is good at the lariat. The property is gorgeous, I'd have an event here for sure. Staff is nice, love the location. Middle of nowhere beautiful.
This place is magical. If you are wanting to stay in an area like this, you love the pictures and nature then yes you're getting exactly what you're wanting. If that's not exactly what you're looking for, there are still high class eating, fantastic pool area and many things for you to see or buy (specialty shops everywhere). This place really is magical highly recommend.
This property is absolutely beautiful it is older but the grounds are taken care of very well. It even has a great story to go along with it. I hate to say it but don't fall for a suite in the Casitas the regular rooms on the resort side are much better with better views. The staff is wonderful especially Tammy at the front desk. Brian Bishop will stop at nothing to make your stay perfect. We are from Southern Arizona so we are used to the desert even with all the beauty we are surrounded with we are still impressed with this Resort. You're only a couple miles from some of the coolest bars in the state. Harold's has amazing food, Buffalo Chip has live bull riding and across the street The Hideaway is probably one of the best motorcycle themed bars I've ever seen. We're always sad to leave but looking forward to the next stay.
It's a great location away from the noisy city with great views and closeness to desert life. The rooms are fairly large with balconies. The decor is dated but it definitely gives the place charm. The only issue is that I wish the pool area had more shade and am surprised they chsrge a rental fee for the cabanas.
Staff is extremely nice. The downfalls are there's no fridge in the rooms. The AC does not blow cold we called the front desk and they sent someone who said it was blowing at 64 degrees. We stayed a few days and had to go buy a fan in order to cool off.
The views and scenery are beautiful at the resort. Their customer service was really good and they have some nice areas to walk around the facility, including a beautiful botanical garden. The spa was nice and offers basic services; there was no private pool area or lounge area, though. The room was huge but sparsely furnished. Not a lot of thought was put into the details. There was only the bed and a desk and an armchair and that left a lot of wasted space. The bath towels they provided were more like hand towels. They also provided two pool towels in the room with a sign that said they would charge us $50 tell if they were not returned to the room. The pool towels were old, non-absorbent, and falling apart. They missed out on some of the extra details.
Where do I begin- First of all the staff is very unfriendly, the room was dirty, I had a king bed with three standard pillows. I know the sheets had not been changed. The ice machine was broken on my floor, so I went to the front desk where a very phony person said I must go to the dining room to get ice-the women who got me ice threw her hands to her side and rolled her eyes at another women. I asked a house keeping person how to get to my room she walked me part way & pointed down a hall, I said thank you very much, no answer from her. The only person who was professional and nice was Brock in room service. Then at about midnight, 1:00 am & 2:00 am someone jerked on my door & my Arcadia door. At 2:00 am men started making bird noises outside of my Arcadia door. I told the front desk in the morning she said she could only adjust my bill 30.00 because I DIDNT CALL SECURITY. I was exhausted and just needed some sleep! All of this fabulous experience cost me 368.00 plus 20.00 for Breakfast! Do yourself a favor folks not only should you pass this place by-you should RUN!!! It's a shame, the pool and the grounds are beautiful. The rest of the joint is a dump.
This resort is beautiful. The lobby was pristine with a fire going when we arrived. We had a big room with a balcony overlooking the pool, which was set up surrounded by desert plants. Their restaurant looks amazing with the same view, but we did not eat there. I wish we would have. The staff was pleasant and unintrusive. They even allow late checkout for a by-the-hour fee instead of paying for an entire day. I'd stay there again.
Nice pool, nice scenery, and overall a nice room. My only complaint is the lack of a refrigerator. People don't want to buy your expensive "hotel water". We had to keep our water outside in the shade during our entire stay. When you go to a hotel it's expected to have to deal with overly high prices for simple things like a soda or a candy bar. But when you're in the hot Arizona sun and you need some water I don't expect to pay so much for such an essential commodity. Don't try to scam thirsty people and just put a refrigerator in your rooms.
Fantastic little getaway!
Great scenery as you pull up to the hotel.
Great customer service as you walk in through the front doors. All the staff members were helpful, nice, and always trying to go the extra mile to accommodate you.
Great room, everything was clean, perfect view from the balcony, and the bed was comfortable.
Great pool to relax in from the AZ sun. Not too overly crowded and steps from the balcony patio.
Great restaurant, food's good and no too pricey. Breakfast was excellent, don't forget to try the French Toast!
Great overall stay, I will definitely be back!
My wife and I have stayed at the resort many times I decided to book a suite for Christmas night I just like to say everything was fantastic my wife was extremely happy as well. The room service was awesome and the staff was very friendly. I have told all of my co workers about my stay at the resort and they are going to check out the resort for themselves. I will be back to stay there very soon again. I highly recommend the Carefree resort for any and all. Thank you for the great Christmas.
