I just moved to Northern Michigan and have been a life long photographer.
I hadn't been in The Camera Shop yet and we were in Traverse City so I stopped in. Coincidentally the day before I had ordered a new Fuji Camera on line. After talking with Molly who certainly couldn't have been more helpful and gracious I decided that evening to buy the Fuji at The Camera Store and return the one I ordered on line. I went in the next day and purchased the XT2, a 50mm lens and the vertical power grip. I also purchased two cards and when I returned home I saw that they were much cheaper on line. I called Molly who immediately made good on the price and offered her apologies. Not only that but the manager called me the day after to apologize for the mix up and talk a little photography.
So I am writing this review to let everyone know this is a first class operation. I think if you are going to purchase a camera the ability to see it in person, hold it in your hands and have a person like Molly explain the camera to you is the way to go. So I'm supporting my local camera shop and even if I pay a few dollars more the chance to see the item and talk shop is worth every penny. Again, I can't speak well enough of my experience and the graciousness of all the employees.

If your camera needs repair DO NOT take it to the Camera Shop. They do not call you with status and do not return calls. As stated in other reviews, they just don't seem to care about customer service or getting your camera back to you. I have had bad luck with Nikons in general and their fixes are very expensive. The last repair only lasted three days and it took forever to get it back! They would not honor the warranty because I did not bring the camera in within the warranty period (I was out of town). You have been forewarned.

I absolutely love the Camera Shop. I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. The service, prints, product, and overall business is great. The prints are incredible with beautiful detail and color without distorting a photo or making it look grainy. All of the employees are personable and extremely helpful, if you have a question, they will answer it or try to find the answer for you. I have not had a single issue with any of their products either. Highly recommend for all your camera/printing needs.

Knowledgeable but a tad arrogant as well. Tried to give them some business and order a tripod head from there instead of ordering it online. They kept telling me it was coming in and I called there repeatedly to check. After about 3 or 4 months still no tripod head. Finally I went in there and cancelled the order and the guy just kind of chuckled at me because I'm sure they had been talking about how many times I called to check if the order was in yet. I ordered the tripod head later that night online and received it three days later. Not sure why they couldn't do the same for me. Also, the cameras are a decent/fair price in there but all the other accessories are way overpriced. Save yourself some money and dealing with arrogance and buy that stuff online.
