Some of the best Italian food I've had. If you like garlic you'll love this place. The staff is great.

Went during a weekday night, quiet with a few business men in there. Dark and cozy ambience. Food was pretty good with big serving sizes that matched the price. Would recommend.

Fantastic! I have eaten at this restaurant many times. Every visit has lacked nothing.

Flawless service, relaxed atmosphere, expertly cooked food, and some of the Italian food I’ve ever had. Every time I visit Chicago I eat hereusually more than once.

The sausage and peppers is amazing, the stuffed peppers has the perfect amount of heat, the chicken parmesan is enough for two people, the shrimp cocktail is the size of small lobsters, and the red sauce is missing nothing.

You can blindly order anything from the menu and know it will be great. Also, the house Cabernet and Pinot are wonderful!

Zero regrets! Keep the up the great work CB and team!!

Tried it twice. Comfortable and nice servers but the food is barely passable. At lunch, my chicken cacciatore suffered from watery, bland tomato sauce and the chicken breasts were small and had been frozen. I don't trust an Italian restaurant that doesn't move through its chicken breasts so quickly that they can use fresh. There is no reason for frozen chicken breasts in a good restaurant. I don't object to restaurants recycling food from the night before, but if you're going to do that to your potato wedges, be careful. Mine were still slightly cold and tough. The green pepper and onion in the sauce were in huge chunks which made it all the more noticeable that they had not been thoroughly cooked. I had to saw at one of the green peppers with a knife. The mushrooms may have been fresh before they were turned into something and then recycled into the sauce, but by the time they hit my plate they were sad and flavorless. Italian food really is not difficult. You use good quality, fresh ingredients and serve them as simply as possible.

Just walked there today for the lava cake with vanilla gelato. It was moist, flavorful and delicious. It started to rain and the delightfully friendly waiter gave me an umbrella to walk home with! Wow!

Pretty terrible. Entire place was pewttt empty except theee tables, and we were originally seated in an unfavorable table. Asked to be moved and was met with hesitation but was moved. Then was provided water and bread and marinara by the busboy. Server comes by and asks a table near us of three gentleman if they were okay. Ignores us. Server then assists two other tables near us. Ignores us again. Ten minutes went by. No drink orders taken and no food orders taken. Busboy comes back and tops off water glasses. Marinara sauce was absolutely flavorless - very little garlic or any other seasoning - and bread was dry and hard. Now 15 minutes and no drink or food order taken. Busboy returns with more water. My guest and I get up and leave after 17 minutes, and asks the hostess if we can pay for our bread. She says "I'm sure the server will be right over?" No thanks. We left. I'm glad we didn't stay because I knew after tasting that bland and chunky marinara that the $26 plate of lasagna probably wasn't going to be very good. This cafe is terribly overpriced (it's next to a Subway, a burger joint? and a $10/pp Thai restaurantcome on. Just because you're on State Street doesn't mean you should be overpriced with poor service) and I won't return.

We had a wonderful time at the cafe; were I to live in Chicago, this would be my "go to" neighborhood eatery. The food! But, the people are absolutely incredible; Dana served us with great hospitality: she is so friendly and great with her guests. Not to sound cliche, but we felt like a part of her family.
I would move my family into this neighborhood.
