Terrific location, and the remodel (1 year ago? Less?) was smart, moved the bar to the other end of the restaurant. Knowledgeable staff, great service, and can we talk about the butternut squash enchiladas? I think it's their most popular dish, for good reason. So many layers of flavor, smoky frijoles, and the secret: they're vegetarian! Even carnivores like me will order this dish time and again.

Horrific salsa that tastes like canned tomatoes. Mediocre food. The fajitas tasted like someone squeezed a whole lime on it. I'm not sure why this place is so popular. Other than the decent interior, there is absolutely no reason to come here. Go to a real Mexican joint instead.

Great service and well made foods. Family friendly environment and staff. I almost always have leftovers. Some people say it's expensive but I think it's worth it. However, I do agree that the guacamole is a bit expensive. The first time I went here my server asked if we wanted guac and I said yes. After seeing the bill I definitely would have answered differently if I read the menu prices first.

Great alcohol selection, amazing food. The best mild salsa. On average spend $15-$30 here. My enchiladas were a little salty, but that's my only complaint.

Finally another excellent restaurant in Kirkland. Most are more show than go. This one, however had fresh tortilla chips and interesting home brewed hot sauce and outstanding entrees for modest prices. Well done. No wonder it's usually packed during good weather or bad

My wife and I enjoy coming here on Friday and Saturday nights for ceviche, calamari and drinks. The service is great during those times and they play a good selection of salsa and bachata music.
But, we never happen to get good service during brunch or on Sundays. They now charge for chips and salsa and service is super slow. The past two times we went with our kids on Sundays they billed us for items we didn't order and the server acted rude when I asked for the complimentary refill of my Mexican Lemonade!
I used to love this cactus for the ambience and the service. I might have to think twice about going there during the day

Great Mexican food. The chips and salsa are wonderful. The chips are made in house and the salsa was extremely fresh. The queso with cilantro was also very good. Great appetizer. The cheese was not too thick. For dinner I had the shredded smoked brisket tacos. They smoke the brisket in house. The flavor was extraordinary. It had just the right of smoke flavor without being over bearing. The meat was very tender. It came with Mexican rice and black beans. Don't leave this place without trying this plate. You won't forget it.

We decided to try this place out for a birthday celebration. Makenzi took care of us and she was fantastic! Her suggestions were great and she was very attentive. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was great for a group of friends catching up! At the end of the meal, the manager brought over complimentary desserts - one for my birthday and one for it being our first time at the restaurant. We will definitely be back and are excited to check out their other locations!

Today was my third visit and the first time I didn't sit at the bar. The first time the service was good, the second time was so-so, but this third time was the best. All the servers in the dining room were top-notch professionals.

It's great how the whole team works together, so you never have only one person waiting on you. During my second visit at the bar, the first bartender was mediocre, but the second one was quite good. It all evened out. :-)

Their food options are pretty good with nice variety and most items can be made vegan with ease. Their tortilla chips are the best I've had in the PNW. However, they lose a star for a couple of reasons. It's tacky for a Tex-Mex restaurant to charge $3 for basic chips & salsa. Their portions are a bit smaller than that of most Tex-Mex chains, but the prices are higher than average.

Was told of hot plate, neither plate or food was hot, just lukewarm. Service marginal. Didn't go for desert offer as a smooth over cure all.

Soooo good. Wonderful unique Southwest flavors, real food that you can identify the fresh ingredients. Everything is fresh and delicious not very spicy but the dishes offer well balanced perfectly seasoned and original profiles. I love the butternut squash enchiladas, they are very rich and flat stacked not rolled which with their cooking process lends a unique crisp yet pliable texture to the tortilla. The veggie fajitas are also perfectly seasoned, generously portioned and accompanied with all of the requisite condiments and sides. The salsa is fresh and tasty, only draw back is that the chips and salsa are not complimentary, but are still reasonably priced. The guacamole was chunky and flavorful, obviously comprised of fresh avacado. The building and atmosphere is just beautiful, very classy. The widow seats are airy and great in the summer for just the right amount of sun and breeze without being overbearing. Great place for a date, works for families and take out from them is just as killer. Cactus is a culinary jewel in downtown Kirkland.

The food and atmosphere are typical chain Mexican fair. Margaritas have a wide selection, food is generously portioned. The wait staff is pretty pushy. Aggressively selling the $7 guacamole, typically asking several times per meal. They also try and get you to leave quickly after finishing your food if you didn't spend a bunch of cash.
