Changing review. Last two trips have been excellent. Prime rib, wedge salad, sirloin steak and salmon were all excellent!! Cam at the bar is a pro and makes you feel. Ore than welcome. Glad the food turned around. Service has always been great. If you're reading Bull Run go back to the Italian coffee you were serving. Current blend is bland.

What's not to like about the Bull Run restaurant well I guess if you don't like old dingy places you wouldn't like it or if the smell of a fire bothers you don't come. Food was great waitstaff was right on service to our crew of 28 for Sunday brunch, we all had a wonderful time and the food was terrific judging from the empty plates that were bussed off. My wife Jeanne and I stuck with a crab theme she had the crab omelette, & I had the crab stuffed poached eggs. Portion size was perfect, no one would leave hungry and several left with take home.
Truly a revolutionary experience if you have never been you owe it to yourself to experience the Historic Bull Run in Shirley Massachusetts.

I would go back again!!!
The service was excellent and food was executed perfectly. I don't normally do reviews but I was compelled to do so. I never walked into a restaurant that I would recommend and have anything negative to say about it. This established exceeded all of my expectations in one shot, kudos!! To the Bull run.

Food was good our water/ bartender was great but my dad is a picky eater as In he likes allot of choices and we didn't really for lunch. Also the " lump" crabcake had no lumps whatsoever so that was a disappointment. The lobster bisque was awesome but the clam chowder was salty but did have allot of clams and that's a plus. The fish tacos were top notch. The Cesar salad was good like you would expect no wows. The complimentary cheese and crackers was a nice touch. We all had sundaes for dessert and that was great and only $3 for each. Also want to mention the drinks are large and reasonably priced draft beer around $6 and its good size. One last comment, my parents were really cold there was a draft and they had to put on their coats was surprised they didn't have the fireplace going.

What a great night and a great meal we had here. Prime rib was terrific. We had a large group of eight and were able to sit where we could hear and see the piano. During one song, the whole place sang along and one other patron completed the show by really joining in. Our waiter was rather dispassionate, didn't really recommend anything (hate hearing "it's all good), but service was attentive and the order was correct, etc, so no real issue there. We stayed a while and really enjoyed ourselves. Would go back, you bet. Beautiful bar/lounge area, really preferred it to some of the other rooms we peeked into. We were after fun, not quiet or romantic, but those could be found there easily. Been there twice now, no hesitation in recommending.

The Bull Run is a north central Massachusetts classic. The building is a beautiful old mill building with a river and covered bridge behind it. They have a restaurant, bar and function hall where they host many concerts and other events. The acoustics are fabulous!
I went with friends to watch Scott Babineau play on the bar side of the restaurant and we all enjoyed amazing meals, drinks and desserts. The food is to notch, as was the service.

We had a small engagement dinner at the Bull Run recently. It was such a great experience. Not only was the food and service outstanding, but they had a man playing the piano with some of the locals singing along. We loved the atmosphere. Can't wait to come back!!!

I don't mind paying a premium for premium meal. The food was edible, but didn't wow me at all. For $30ish dollars in the middle of nowhere, I would have expected a better steak. Probably won't be back. For a few bucks more you can eat at gibbet hill and have a much more fulfilling experience.

We had our wedding over the weekend at this beautiful venue. We contacted the event planner, Amanda during the last week of June to plan a "shotgun" wedding for September. She had available dates, made us feel comfortable from the moment we met her, and the venue was even able to accomodate our 3 dogs in the ceremony and reception!! We love how affordable the venue is, the buffet was AMAZING and we never felt rushed. The staff set up everything for us, we just dropped centerpieces, favors, and decorations the night before and they boxed everything at the end of our wedding night for us to come pick up the next day. At the end of the night, the owner of the Bull Run even came to meet my new wife and I, she hugged and congratulated us and commented on how beautiful the wedding was. Amanda and the staff at the Bull Run made our wedding day (and even the few weeks before) a breeze and we couldn't be more happy with our wedding venue choice!

Great place to relax. Egopantis friendly with a rustic country atmosphere. The menu is diverse so there is something for everyone. The best thing about the Bull Run is its venue. Over the years I have seen the quality of the artists who play there grow. Reasonable prices for a great evening of music or comedy enjoyment with good food!

A year and a half ago, my (now) husband and I drove an hour and a half away to meet with Amanda, the function coordinator, to view the snow covered Bull Run Restaurant as a potential wedding venue for the following spring. She took us to the covered bridge, which was the initial reason we were drawn to the venue, and it was just as beautiful in person as it was in the pictures we had seen previously. The reception area we decided on **at the time** was the Patio/Garden Room, which was a great space for our small, 50 person wedding. Like I said, even covered in snow, Amanda definitely helped us envision the space on a gorgeous spring day! From day one, Amanda answered every single email I sent within a day, most of the time immediately! We met with her multiple times throughout that year and a half, she really got to know us and what we wanted for our big day!

Alright, so as a nervous, stressed out bride the day before the weddingrain in the forecast with a chilly 50 degree day was not what I was hoping for on the day of. It was our rehearsal, the day before the wedding, and Amanda pulled us to this space upstairs we had never seen, as a back up to the outdoor reception. Let me just say, I was so blown away by the unique beauty of this space. I felt like I was in a museum. Without a doubt, we agreed to changing the location of the reception. for the rehearsal, Amanda went over the order of events multiple times with our wedding party to make sure the big day would run smooth.

The big day: I can't put in to words how perfect the day was. The covered bridge was decorated just as I had imagined. And for the reception, I had all these decorations that I only imagined outside on the patio, and Amanda really went above and beyond decorating the new space we chose. She truly made this my dream day. I wouldn't change a thing (not even the weather!) Start to finish, she was right there to make sure it was running smoothly. Our guests loved the food, and guess what!? WE LOVED THE FOOD. Yes, the bride and groom GOT TO EAT! Amanda made sure of it! It's delicious! The lovely staff at the Bull Run took all of our decor down and we were able to pick it up a few days later!

In short, (since I could go on forever) If you're looking for an affordable, unique wedding venue, loaded with history, delicious food, a professional personable coordinator, a great time for everyonea dream wedding, this is where you want to be!

Shirley has more to offer than you would think and most of it happens at the Bull Run. This place is crazy old and totally cool. Great food, amazing artists, mythological creatures to terrorize early colonists What more could you possibly need? Check it out! I love tickets!
