Went here the other night with my mom and saw Dancing for Diabetes program for the very first time and I really enjoyed myself. Me and my mom had really good seats and was escorted to the back of the building for handicap seating and we were able to see the stage very well. I would go back again to see another performance because I really enjoyed myself even though it was really cold outside but it was worth it.

We went to the Orlando diabetes dance show. And they were very talented young people. We had a great time. All types of dance was performed. The only reason I didn't give it 5 Stars was parking was atrocious it took almost 20 minutes to park. And it was the standard $10 just took too long to park and no lights the lighting is horrible there in the parking lot not safe at all.

Place is really nice. I recommend going but probably not getting the included dinner for some of the plays. The dinner is cheap and selection is not very expansive.

The Bob Carr theater is absolutely lovely. Many different events happen there, and those that I've been to are all splendid. Today I attended the free concert of Handel's Messiah, conducted by the illustrious John V. Sinclair. This Messiah concert is an unmissable part of the Central Florida Christmas experience.

I visited Bob Carr for my granddaugter's ballet recital. It costs money to park ($8) outside and in the garage. Nice building. Seemed to seat around 1,500 people. Very clean, the attendants were very helpful. There was an inside adult bar and coffee bar. Food was not available for purchase. Seats were very comfortable. I had a good experience.

I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THE CHRISTMAS CANTATA PLAY!!!! MY 3 CHILDREN WERE VERY EXITED TO SEE THE PLAY FOR THE FIRST TIME. I WAS THERE SINCE 5:30PM MAKING THE LONG LINE. THE SHOW STARTED AT 7PM. BY THE TIME I REACHED THE FRONT OF THE LINE IT WAS 6:20PM THEY DID NOT WANT TO LET ME IN BECAUSE MY YOUNGEST SON WHO IS 5 AND AUTISTIC NOT TALL ENOUGH TO LOOK LIKE A 5 YEAR OLD THIS IS DISCRIMINATION. I ASK TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER NO ONE WANTED TO GET ONE THE STOPPED LETTING PEOPLE IN BY 6:50PM BECAUSE THEY REACHED CAPASITY. I WAS FURIOUS BY THE TIME THEY SEEN MY ANXITY IT WAS 7:25PM (25 min into the show) AND FINALLY I GOT TO TALK TO A MANAGER. I'M NOT SURE WHAT HIS NAME WAS BUT HE WAS PART OF THE SHOW. HE TOLD ME HE KNOWS WHAT A 5 YEAR OLD LOOKS LIKE AND THAT MY SON WAS NOT ONE. BY THIS TIME IT WAS 7:50PM. I STARTED TO CRY FROM THE FRUSTRATION. I THEN LOOKED FOR ANOTHER MANAGER. HIS NAME WAS DAVID HE WAS SO AWESOME! I EXPLAINED MY SITUATION THEM HE LOOKED AT MY SON ASKED HIM HOW OLD HE WAS MY SON RAISED HIS AND AND SHOWED HIM 5. DAVID RIGHT AWAY WALKED US TO A SEAT 4 PEOPLE BY THE TIME WE GOT INTO THE THEATER IT WAS 8:05PM WE MISSED ALL READY AN HOUR OFF THE SHOW I APPRECIATE THE REST OF IT BUT NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO SEE THE IS SHOW!!!!!

I love this theatre, tons of open rehearsals and cool stuff going on, they've got a great orchestra and tons of fun plays and musicals happening almost weekly

I sat up on the balcony to enjoy the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra while they played "The Final Frontier", an homage to the many science fiction movies of our time. Unfortunately, from the balcony, the power of the music was underwhelming and at a low volume. The orchestra was accompanied by a choir, who I could also barely hear over the other instruments being played
It was also really hot during the entire performance, and I wasn't wearing any heavy clothing. When I asked about the air conditioning to one of the employees, he told me that "he knew it was hot, but today was a good day. It can get much worse in here." We're in Florida and the summer hasn't even begun yet. So I can only imagine how bad it can get.
I'm not sure if these problems are only apparent for those who sit on the balcony, maybe the ground floor is much better.
As much as I loved watching the orchestra anyway, the several limitations with this venue have made me reconsider visiting it again. I really do hope they fix the AC.

Bob Carr has been a live entertainment venue in Orlando since the late 1920's, when it was known as the Orlando Municipal Auditorium.. It has been the site of many performances, from Elvis in the '50's to recent Orlando Philharmonic to Broadway shows

Despite numerous renovations, it occasionally shows its age..there are no entry vestibules to main auditorium to allow late arrivers a way to enter the I performance hall without opening doors directly to the brightly lit & often noisy hallwaysvery distracting! And the seating is tightly packed, with long uninterrupted rows that make it very difficult to exit during performances if necessary.. You'll be very 'close' to those around you & even closer to those trying to pass while you're seated, often too close.. It gets a bit claustrophobic, IMHO.. And air quality is an issue that needs addressing.

The sound quality & stage lighting works well enough & overall the facility is attractive enough but it all needs updatingwhich I guess doesn't matter much given that in the near future, The Carr will become part of the Creative Village proposed for downtown Orlando when it will likely undergo another big makeover. While Carr Center lacks the style & flourish of typical historical preservation site's from the 1920's & has a contemporary design, & there has been talk of tear down/rebuild, the present mindset is that it is part of Orlando history that doesn't include The Mouse (aka Disney) & is worthy of preservation.. Plans for future uses are being made.

If there is a performance scheduled for Bob Carr that interests you, by all means go.. It is still a fine venue, it's just not as young & sexy as new Dr Phillips Center.. And tickets are probably not as expensive, either

Nice and cozy, saw Irish Romance with Tri and Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. Very nice. Quite a walk to our seats on far right facing stage from the handicap lot 5. It would have been better to have had orchestra left. Would go again.
