Very nice little diner. Allison was my server and she did great. Food was good and I really liked the fact that you can take your coffee to go!

Surprised by this place, great service and delicious food. Their smothered fries were ridiculous. Definitely going back!

Understandably they were busy. On a home game Saturday you're going to have to wait but they are really good about getting tables turned over and if you've got a small party there's always the option to sit at the counter. But the reason they're always busy is because they have great food! I usually get breakfast, Popeye or Krakatoa, but the burgers and sandwiches are good too. The only one that's been mediocre was the tenderloin. I highly recommend this place, you won't regret the wait.

Great breakfast here! I had a Steak and Wake 3 egg omelette which consists of cubes of steak and asparagus under provolone cheese with a swizzle of really good (and hot) stone ground mustard. You also receive hash-brown potatoes and two slices of toast (wheat, white, rye or sourdough). I asked for, and received, some peanut butter to smear on my toast!

Wow!! A hidden gem!! Delicious breakfast served all day!! They made everything exactly as we ordered it and it tasted fantastic! The gluten free pancakes were some of the best we've had and cooked on a dedicated surface! We'll be back for sure!

The sheer variety of delicious breakfasts (not to mention lunch or dinner) has bewildered friends of mine in the most positive sense. Bluebird cooks and servers consistently deliver filling dishes and coffee whilst maintaining a calm collectedness even during rush hour. The place to be any morning during the week.

Perfect eggs, pancakes, bacon. Espresso drinks very good. Service fast and attentive. Only thing less than perfect: we wanted real maple syrup.

The place was great. We had 9 at our table. They forgot one of our meals because it didn't print where the cooks were. We told them that they forgot one of our meals. Brought it out asap and apologize profusely. It was no big deal. But they definitely made up for it. The waiter staff is amazing to say the least. Will definitely return and recommend.

The Bluebird Café has great coffee and wonderful breakfast. Go early on the weekends for breakfast/lunch, they tend to get busy quickly.

Friendly staff, food is incredible and orders come out impressively quick. You can tell it's privately owned and the place is well managed with competent workers.

Excellent coffee! Also, the breakfast and lunch selections are great. Personal favorites are the Krakatoa Omelet and Cinnamon Roll French Toast. Can get during Saturday and Sunday breakfast/brunch rushes

Throughout obtaining my hospitality degree and experience thereafter managing restaurants, I always remember being asked what my worst customer service experience was and I never had a good example until now. This past Sunday I called Bluebird Café to place an order for pickup and was told by both an employee and manager that they were “too busy to accommodate my order”. Never in my career would it ever be considered acceptable to say this to a customer to completely deny service and provide no resolution or alternative to them. Furthermore, I can completely understand that being one of the only breakfast restaurants in North Liberty on a Sunday you are going to be busy so I would suggest and would have appreciated the following: Take my telephone number and state that you will call back when less busy or quote out a longer time than usual. I would also contemplate hiring additional staff or cross training another employee to handle the higher peak hours in your kitchen. I am extremely disappointed with my experience and the lack of professionalism/hospitality. We will not be returning to the Bluebird café.

Well worth the wait if you need to. The food is always great, service is wonderful, and the price is right. Go to the North Liberty location of that is handy or visit the downtown Iowa City location for the same great food.
