Resemblance of a shabby cruise liner and really bad service. Jazz was fabricated and not impromptu - ambience poor - left after 30 minutes

All in all a disturbing experience if you have visions of cool 😎 impromptu jazz, with leather seats and cigar smells - do not enter.

Food is only fair, service is rushed and indifferent, all of which I wouldn't mind if my date and I (and everyone else in the place) weren't crammed in to fill the venue to maximum capacity. You will literally be rubbing shoulders with the strangers who will share your table, and many tables have chairs that don't even face the stage, requiring those poor SOBs to have to try and strain their necks around to view the performers.

The talent is undeniably top notch but I'm not paying top dollar to be physically uncomfortable while trying to hear them. There are many other jazz clubs in NYC with better food, service and comfort level. This storied jazz institution is not what it used to be - maximum meh factor.

One of the last remaining jazz clubs on Bleecker street! Only been once however the vibe was great with table service. Glad to see these places are still alive and well in the village. Acts rotate nightly while some have multi night shows.

Great venue. This place has hosted some great acts. They could do a better job with their ticket sales method. The wait staff is not great, nor are the drinks. Perhaps, the wait staff isn't terribly concerned about offering great service because they are counting on guest's over-tipping based on the check total which includes the tickets for the show?

Its a Landmark! Are you feeling Blue and looking for a soundtrack to float it? Come here at least once and you will find ways to come back. The Jazz, what can I say, is superb, and the atmosphere is like a movie set gone real..and that's cool man, cool.

The music was excellent. Be prepared for a crowded experience, though. I prefer smaller jazz clubs in the area. The food was mediocre, as would be expected. Have dinner in any of the fantastic places around it and come here only for the music.

I've been here for many shows, jazz shows saw Talib Kweli and Roy Ayers perform their last year and recently saw a good friend Chris Robinson perform a set over the weekend. The seating is great because there's a ground level and an elevated level so you can see the performances nicely. And it's an intimate space

Blue Note is a fun, but flawed, jazz bar.

This place is fairly affordable and the performance I saw was certainly enjoyable on the night I went.

The food was simply okay. It's somewhere between a diner and a restaurant as far as I'm concerned. I tried their salmon platter, and the fish had a sauce that had a skin forming on it. No idea how long that salmon was sitting in that sauce, but it wasn't appetizing. And it tasted very much like how I'd imagine airline fish would taste. The mac and cheese with it was mushy and fairly bland, too.

Service was also mixed. Our main waitress was polite and as efficient as could be, but another hostess/waitress came to our table two or three times asking if she could seat strangers next to us, despite us telling her that our friends were on their way. By the second or third time she was visibly annoyed and said she'd sit strangers by 7:30pm if our friends didn't come (they did come in the end).

Finally, seating is a bit of a joke. It's so cramped that it's slightly unpleasant. I'd be all for Blue Note charging more for tickets if they took out some tables. You're literally inches from people.

Nonetheless, I did have fun here and would recommend it!

A very nice jazz club with amazing performances. It is very cozy however, meaning there isn't a lot of space to do anything. It was very difficult to eat when there's no space for my elbows. The food was good: not amazing but no real complaints. The drinks were why this reviews is only three stars. I have never has a bloody mary quite like that one. The drinks were unpleasant enough to make my mood go down. Once again, the music was amazing.

I question the sentiment that this is the "best jazz club in nyc". Sure, some damn good music comes through here, but I dont think blue note holds a candle to 55bar or detour (RIP) in it's prime.

pro's:
- Great performers come through here.
- They have decent food and drink
- You don't *need* a reservation, but it is highly recommended.
- Very close to the subway (feet away from A/C/E, a block from 1/9/B/D/F/Q, walking distance from N/R)

con's:
- It gets as crowded as the NYC subway. Don't go with a big group of friends, and only let your friends go if they are passionate about the music or artist.
- Very expensive for what you get. They charge the 'music charge' *per set* which is about 60-75 minutes for the set. A top name can cost about $35 bucks, to see two sets will run you $70 bucks. 2 drinks per set brings you to about $100 bucks (this is per person).

I'd give it a higher rating if it were less expensive. I don't mind spending money, I just like getting my money's worth.

Recently saw Stanley Clarke and Ron Carter, amazing! Usually don't eat when I visit but tried their Vega Farfel Pasta and was pleasantly surprised

Arguably the best pizza AND greyhounds in the city of New York, NY ! No lie.Have been here several times and tried a few different varieties of pie - each one has been mouthwatering delicious with fresh ingredients.Certainly not the fanciest decor, but people don't come here to be wowed by architecture or decorations. It's definitely got that "old school jazz vibe meets Height hippy" vibe. A very eclectic mix!Stop in, have a drink and order a pizza.You won't regret it!
