  Took family to this place at 6 AM for a charter booked and paid for the previous day - staff insisted the early departure would help guarantee success.
  Door was locked and Captain - Eric- nowhere to be found. About 45 minutes later 2 young men showed up and stated that Eric would not be able to make the charter. They stated that Eric had said he called me the previous evening to tell me he would not be able to make it. Sure, that's why we all got up at 5:00 and arrived at 6:00. Outright lie.
  The young men laughingly referred to the Captain, Eric, as "Skippy".
  Skippy ruined our day - especially for my 12 year old grandson who had been up since 4AM.

  We were late to our reservation, and they were still so accomadating. The girl who worked inside was extremely friendly! The two deck hands helped us carry all of our heavy coolers on and off the boat. One deck hand (I think was named Martin?!) helped us bag up all our trash at the end. Great experience all around!

  Rented kayaks here this weekend. It was awesome! Cool to see all the very beautiful boats. Employees were nice as well.

  I traveled to Alaska for King Salmon, went out first part of August with Big Lake Outfitters and caught several 15-18 pound Kings and a 12 pound steelhead. Saw the sunset-best happy hour ever. Salmon on the grill Sunday afternoon next. Wonderful experience and the price was right!!!! About $4500 dollars less than Alaska!!!!

  Was in Douglas area visiting "mother-in-law" and decided on the spur of the moment to rent a boat. Without a reservation, pontoon boat was available in about 30 minutes. Had a ball on the boat and the 2 young men went out of their way helping get 2 elderly women (both in their 80's) out of the boat and back on the pier. Rent here and have a great time.

  My wife and I rented a pontoon which was a great time and the next day rented mopeds which was a blast all the people working there where very accommodating they tell you do not go out on the lake so why to people complain when the do and capsize their boat!

  This place is a rip off! Do not rent any equipment from them! I rented a Craigcat for 1.5 hours this weekend (07/10/10). The boat capsized due to a larger boat passing. I just got onto Lake Michiganhadn't even taken the boat off idle. Their website has it plastered all over that these Craigcats are stable enough for the big lake. You take one of these out onto the lake and you are risking your life.
  Some strangers helped my fiancee and I, who I had to pull from under the boat after I came up, get the boat to shore and flipped back over. We took great care in flipping the boat back over as not to break anything. Someone from the boat that helped us called Big Lake Outfitters office and talked to the salesman, Adam. Adam proceeded to get snotty with the lady who called for us. After he asked if his boat was ok (and not my fiancee and I) he said he would send someone out. The guys they sent out have a charter boat docked with them and showed up about a half hour later. One of the guys started cussing he got in the water to tie the Craigcat to their boat.
  When we got back to the dock I told Adam what had happened. I explained to him that we just pulled out onto the lake and a large boat passed and capsized us. He was completely rude to me and my fiancee. He did not ask if we were ok and seemed not to really care. He proceeded to tell me that I would be resposible for any damages to the Craigcat. I received a phone call from him this morning informing me that there was no damage to the boat, but they had to change the oil and put a new tank of gas into it and that I owe Big Lake Outfitters $100.
  If you want to ruin whatever personal belongings you have with you and pay triple what the rental should have costed and only get to use the rental for 1/3 of the time, rent from these guys. If you want horrible customer service, shop Big Lake Outfitters.
