Close to the ocean. Clean. Quiet. Breakfast is very limited. In room kitchen unit adequate for food prep.

Resv. messed up, had to move rooms, no fans or A.C., breakfast? Coffee,juice,Tea about it. Front staff (female) was rude & moved us to another room. Amenities? None except Wi-Fi might work in certain spots.
Only reason we didn't leave was because no refund but pet friendly for a price

Beautiful Pacific Grove. Comfortable room. Three issues:
Missing items from kitchenette. Took 2 of our 5 days to be replaced.

One evening, we asked clerk if DVD player worked. Told yes. Asked for a local place to rent one. Returned with rental and could not get player to work. Clerk came to our room to help, to no avail. She returned to office to get help from manager. Called to inform us we needed a remote to use DVD player and it was locked up in custodian's office and would only be available during the day!!! Nothing posted in room explaining their RULES on using DVD's

Final frustration is that Cell phone service is almost non-existent, as well as their free WiFi service. Had to walk to street to make calls and even then it was spotty. Since they charge .50 a phone call out, we told our family to call us. But, the office would only transfer phone calls during certain hours. Nothing posted as to when!!

Weird place and RULES.

for $160 a night I have never seen so few amenities. No newspaper, no a/c just heat, continental breakfast which we had to take back to our room, some of the staff was friendly, some not, no grab bars in shower, old key system(key locked door from outside using the handle but no dead bolt) . Very small bathroom, very small counter space at sink. Room did have a toaster, frig, and microwave oven. Office didn't open till 8am, so if you wanted to eat and get on your way early forget it.
Wont stay here again!

Excellent location. Walking distance to The beach. Very quiet part of town, where you share the walking paths with the local deer. We stayed here when attending the Monterey Jazz Festival. Only 15 minute drive to the fair grounds. Good walk and very short drive into town for shopping and restaurants.

Lovely place to spend a couple of nights. Gardens everywhere with tables to spend some time. The room was ok, very large king room (fridge, microwave, sink, small table and a desk), gas chimney but no A/C nor fan. Had to figure out how to turn off the chimney. Breakfast was coffee, juice, tea, pastries, frankly not that good. Noise wise we could hear are neighbor easily (as in most motels/inn in the US though). The location is good, a short drive from the beach and an amazing beach front with a long nature path. I would definitely come back as the scenery was great but at this price some compromise are to be done.

I liked this place. Convenient to the beach and other attractions. Not hard to find. The breakfast was poor. Room was roomy. Prices affordable for the area. Parking was a challenge -- a little tight.

I have been staying at the Bide-a-Wee biannually for the last 8 years when I attend a conference at the nearby Asilomar Conference center. I have always enjoyed my stays and recommended it to other attendees, but after this year I will not stay there again.

1) There was construction going on that meant loud banging during the day and that breakfast was served at a different hotel several blocks away (which I was not even told at check in).

2) Allegedly, due to the construction, I was unable to split my hotel charges with a colleague who was sharing my room. This meant that my expenses for the trip went over my travel allowance and I have to pay out of pocket for a trip that should have been well under budget.

3) The employees were unhelpful and really just demonstrated a complete lack of ability to do their job. I don't know if everyone working there was brand new or what (I certainly hadn't seen them on past stays), but to not be told where breakfast would be at check in and to not be willing and able to help resolve the billing issue is just unacceptable.

Clean place. Quiet location away from the downtown. Parking. Breakfast you have to carry from the office to your room which is inconvenient especially because it was raining heavily the weekend we were there. Our main reason to go was the acquarium for our 3 yr old so we didn't see much ocean. But looked walking distance. Clean place. Not really a cottage. It's compact suites. The Kitchenette was good. Needed more plates/cups/cutlery etc.

Overall very pleased with our stay. It is just out of the way of downtown Monterey but a short driving distance to the aquarium and warf. It is located just 1 block from the ocean which you could walk too if you wanted. The place is in a quiet location and the rooms were clean and nice. They serve a light continental breakfast in the morning as well (coffee, pastries, fruit, bagels). The price was surprisingly competitive for the area as well. If you want a quiet location to stay that is out of the main town I recommend trying here.
