Chad is one heck of a guide. Very intelligent and very accommodating. He knows what he is doing. Caught some really nice steelhead with him as soon as we hit the water. If you are looking for a good trip I'd highly recommend Betts Guide Service.

Cody guided us on the Manistee. My fishing partner is quite physically challenged and quite hard of hearing. And had not fished in over 20 years. I told Cody the primary purpose of this trip is to get him to catch fish. He did a phenomenal job and had the patience of Job Could not ask for a better trip. Would highly recommend Cody to anyone. He took excellent care of us.

My son 11 and i went out with chad. This was our first time salmon fishing/fly fishing. Chad landed us on the fish and was a great teacher. Also, he was very patient with my son.Thank chad we had a really great time and we absolutely will be backthanks again..

Jake our guide was fantastic!! My son & I went fly fishing on the Manistee with Jake. It was the first time using a fly rod for both of us. Jake got us comfortable using the fly rods right away. He was a great guide very patient, jovial, poking fun when our technique was not perfect, but always on top of helping us getting our line back out in front of the fish. When a spot was slow, he moved us around so make sure we got a better shot at the action. We ended up landing 4 big king salmon. We would highly recommend both Betts Guide Service & Jake.

Chad,
I want to thank you for taking my son Kyle and I salmon fishing on Oct. 14th. We had a blast. You knew right where to put us and we hooked double digit Kings and Cohos. This was our best day salmon fishing ever! We will be back again.

9-28-2017, Our fishing guide was nothing but a First Class fisherman and as honest as they come. Our full day trip was filled with action with some very big kings !! While we were on fish in a great hole our guide, Chad, saw and retrieved a floating tackle box full of salmon lures and plugs, his thought was perhaps it came from a passing boat headed down stream five minutes ago?? He asked us if we could pull lines and give chase to the suspected owner, we caught them a long ways downstream but they were not the owners, so back to our fishing hole we go and on fish again! Now a different boat was headed back up river and as they passed us, Chad asked this boat if they lost anything, they were very surprised and said “Yes” then gave exact details of the tackle box Chad had found. Hats off to this hard working most honest fisherman I have ever fished with… I will be back for many years and look forward to fishing with these outfitters!! I will request “Chad the Good one” as he is referred to, every chance I can fish with him… Thank you Betts Guide Services for a wonderful trip !!

We spent two amazing 1/2 days with Chad to fish and met this Endangered Eastern Wood Turtle! We went to fish but received an amazing ECO TOUR in the process. If we weren't getting bites in one area, we were headed to another fishing hole. Our daughter caught a huge 21" small mouth bass, we caught several 18", 15" and below. But what stood out to me was not only was he a great fishing guide but he was an amazing nature guide. Chad got in the water to show our daughter this turtle and in addition to that beauty we saw several eagles, beavers, tons of sunning turtle families, cranes and even deer. Even if you are not a fisherman, a trip with Chad is a wonderful experience in nature. I would have been just as happy sitting on the boat with my family and absorbing the beauty of Michigan and taking pictures, showing our daughter the kind of nature we do not have near our home. I would highly recommend considering the ECO TOUR if you are not a fisherman. He's definitely not just your normal fishing guide! And he was so patient with our daughter and so much fun! We are already planning our next trip to see Chad again later in the fall this year!

I highly recommend Betts guide service. I'm a novice fly fisherman at best. Chad was extremely patient untangling my line constantly and showing me the ropes. Not only did he put me on the fish all afternoon and I came out more experienced with fly fishing. I will definitely be a returning customer for sure.

I have been fishing w/ Chad and Betts Guide Service since 1998. Both friends and clients of various skill levels from different parts of the country have stepped onto his sled w/ high expectations in varying conditions.Chad, Cody, Jim, and Chad S. have delivered every single time! His passion for his craft never tapers off. You'll learn lessons that will make you a better angler. But more importantly,whatever your skill level ,you'll spend a day with an extremely knowledgeable guide whose patience and focus on his client will render a positive day with lasting memories. If your a seasoned angler you'll pick up great tips. And if it's a bucket list goal there's none better!

My friend and I went fishing with Chad this past weekend and had a blast. We were both complete newbies and never even held a fly rod before. Chad was very patient with us and taught us a ton. He had us on fish and fighting with steel head really fast. By the time the trip was over we were beat and had some nice fish in the cooler. Thanks Chad! We will definitely be back.

Easily the most fish I've caught in a single day. Chad was a good teacher and got my inexperienced guest to hook into 15+ fish and land at least 9 of them. He also let me use one of his nicer Center-pin rods which helped me land 9 fish that day. Very satisfying and would highly recommend. We plan on booking another visit sooner rather than later.

Betts Guide Service is the BEST! You never know what your going to get when you hire a guide and Betts will spoil you for any other guide you ever hire. We had have a ton of fun while we were fishing. Their knowledge of the river is incredible, their equipment is top notch (Their River Rat Boats are Awesome) and they PUT YOU ON THE FISH! I wish I could take Chad on all my fishing adventure! Already trying to plan my next trip back!
