I just literally just left Basil. Normally I have a good experience, tonight was horrible. I made a reservation days ago and when I get in they seat us in the bar. Our food was heavily delayed and cold. When I asked the waitress for additional sauce for my dish, she sent the chef out who said basically I couldn’t get it so I ate my cold dry $24 dish. I ordered a Shirley Temple. Literally sprite and cherry flavoring. The waitress was bringing them in tiny glasses so to not have to ask for so many I asked if I could get a larger glass. She takes the glass to the manager in front of us as to complain that we asked just for a larger glass of soda! Not wine, or liquor but sprite! I normally really like Basil but this was a horrible experience. Then sensing the waitress was annoyed she waited until all the other tables were cleaned to clear ours and we waited another 10 minutes with cards waiting for her cash us out. I’m not sure if the management has changed but I do not recommend coming if you want a good experience.
We were not allowed to take a seat and wait for my son, as he had already told me what he wanted. I think the owner is racist and did not want us in his establishment, said the food would get cold and it's against their policy. Terrible place!
Really good Thai food and in a cool uptown location. Just a few minutes walk from the Epicentre and bars. Public parking is nearby but they also have a valet service for patrons of the restaurant. Good atmosphere in an open dining area, but you are seated pretty close to other parties so the intimacy on a special night can be limited. All things considered though, it did make for a fun date.
Couldn't be better. They don't try to over spice you. I ordered my curry 4 out of 5 and it was spicy but not too much. Appetizer rolls were really good and the house sauce complimented everything.
Very nice Thai place. It is more expensive at dinner than it is a lunch so save $5 and come at lunch. The staff is very nice and their selections on Thai is amazing. They have a hot scale for how they will cook your food from 1-5. Get a 5. A 5 is like a good hot sauce temp and it really make the meal great.
Really good food. I love the mango stick rice, the curries all of them and the pad Thai. They have a heating level system for their food. 1 star is little to no spice and 5 starts is super spicy. I love spicy food so always get 5 stars. Their food is really flavor full.
Food was average, I've had much tastier Thai food for a lot less and a lot better service. This place is totally overrated. Service was super slow and we were not even server water for the first 20-25 min and no server checked on us. They were not that busy either even on a Friday night and only had about 5 tables taken. And I could see about 8-9 servers loitering around doing nothing. The food taste was alright, nothing exceptionally great, won't go back again. Definitely not to pay $22 bucks for a fried rice that wasn't even well seasoned. I can't believe so many people swore by this place and had recommended it to me, but I finally tried it out and was deeply disappointed.
Great upscale ambiance. Food is pretty good. Not as authentic tasting though. Prices somewhat high. Quantities were suppose to be very generous but I didn't think so. Friendly staff.
My husband and I enjoyed an early dinner. Our server Scott was fantastic. We started out with the basil rolls which were delicious and fresh and served with a flavorful sauce. We opted for the Dynamite Shrimp and Pad Thai. The Dynamite Shrimp came with five grilled jumbo shrimp, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower in an amazing sauce. The pad Thai was sweeter than some of the others I've tried but delicious and served with both chicken and shrimp. Good sized portions, tastefully decorated & prompt service.
Great Thai food. I had the Pad Thai and it was probably the best I've had in Charlotte, although admittedly I have not tried them all. Service was pleasant and fast. Plenty of drink options.
Since I am from NYC and a Thai food lover, I have had better Thai food there. But for Charlotte it's not bad. It's good enough compared to other I had.
I have sampled plenty of Thai restaurants who claim to offer the best Thai food in the area and Basil Thai Cuisine is indisputably the winner. Suitable for reservations of all sizes and styles, you can expect great service from waiters who hold themselves to a higher standard of professionalism and authentic Thai food that offers an explosion of flavor.
This place is no longer serving good food. I used to love food here. In the recent past, they started reducing the quality. The chicken they add smells bad, you can taste expired chicken. They reduced the quantity of food in the dinner plates as well. NOT WORTH your $20 total bill per plate anymore.
The food was delicious, but the overall experience was mediocre. The servers were pleasant, but our party was split into two smaller tables. They insisted it was for better service, however, we weren't able to talk across both tables. Also, our courses were served at different times so one table was always waiting on the other. For the price we paid, I believe the experience could have been better. I would go back, but only with a small group.
