I've lived in NKY my whole life and I've heard of Barleycorns but never ate there. Man do I regret it. My family and I ate there last night for the first time and the food is amazing! We will definitely be regulars! Now I understand why it's always packed! I cant wait to try everything else!

Tried it for the first time tonight & very pleased. 10/10 would like this better than bdubs wings. If you like wings, highly reccomend getting these instead. Had a friendly waiter as well, clean bathrooms & eatery.

My boyfriend and I, both of which have worked as servers/bartenders for our whole working careers, have frequented this location on a weekly basis, usually more often and with friends, since moving here a year ago. During my last visit, I ordered a draft Coor’s Lite that tasted sour, almost like two beers mixed that had gone bad. The server in me refused to send it back since I literally never complain at restaurants even when food or service is bad - but my server noticed when I didn’t touch it and got it taken off my check. Service is excellent every time we go.

With that said, my boyfriend brought some friends in last night. He ordered a draft beer, took one sip of it, and asked for it to be taken off his check since there was definitely something wrong with it - it was absolutely foul. The server returned at the end of the meal with the beer still on the check. The manager told him he wouldn’t comp the beer because “we can’t put it back in the keg, now can we?” He also said that if my boyfriend had really worked in the service industry, he’d know restaurants can’t comp alcohol or beer. 1) They comped my beer last time I was there at the same location and had a sour one, likely due to their tap lines needing cleaned or an old/bad keg. so management’s lack of consistency is laughable.

    2) My boyfriend and I both worked and still work in establishments that have comped top shelf liquor or remade $10 drinks simply because the customer was unhappy. As a bartender, I would never expect someone to drink, let alone pay for something that didn’t taste the way it was supposed to and especially that they were unhappy with. This manager was clearly never trained in customer service if they feel refusing to take a single beer off a check is worth losing a regular and everyone we bring’s return business. For the record, he paid the bill including the beer and tipped 30% - it’s the principle, and we’ll take our business somewhere that appreciates it.

Used to be a regular here, but the management ruined it for me.

Ordered a beer which tasted rancid. Being in the service industry for 5 years, I attempted to continue drinking it as I hate sending beers back, but couldn’t make it past 1/4th down. Informed my server apologetically, and she advised she’d ask her manager to switch it from West 6th IPA to Rhinegeist Truth.

Comes back and tells me I can switch my beer, but I still need to pay for the first one (mind you that I had taken at most 3 sips from).

This isn’t a new issue. I’ve had a few different beers from this place where they do not taste even remotely close to what they should. The glass could potentially have had too much detergent in it previously, the tap lines could potentially not be going through a regular routine cleaning, etc. I was a bartender, I can sympathize with those issues. What I cannot sympathize with is the fact that the manager refused to comp my beer that so clearly wasn’t up to par with what the brewery sells.

Upon receiving my bill, the beer was still listed on the ticket. I asked for the manager. I asked him why I had to pay for a beer that tasted not up to par with the regular product and I had a couple sips out of. His response? “We can’t put it back into the keg now.”

I’m not debating that. But sometimes the cost of business ($2 at most) should be allocated to keeping your paying customers happy. ESPECIALLY when they consistently bring in new business for the company. He even went as far as saying “if you were really in the service industry like you say, you’d know you have to pay for what you order.” Yes, I get I have to pay for a beer that I don’t like when I order it, but not when the beer is rancid. Clearly the management is out for the small numbers and not focusing on the big picture of repeat business.

If this wasn’t blatantly obvious enough yet, I should mention that I’ve witnessed the GM screaming at his bartending staff in the past in front of the guests at the bar, have heard numerous complaints about how they treat their servers and bartenders from the employees themselves, and have seen firsthand how they treat those who quite literally pay their bills (i.e. myself and all my friends.)

I have always brought in new friends into this restaurant. I’ve been a regular in which servers and bartenders have come to recognize, and I always pay for premium service, up-charges, and tip well. Unfortunately this lack of customer service has lost this Highland Heights Barleycorns at least $50-$100 a week. I’ll happily take my business elsewhere where the managers don’t power trip all over their egos to save $2.

My husband and I came to this BarleyCorn's for dinner tonight. We drove over from Cincinnati to eat there. The food was really good. The server was very busy and left our check at our table with the intention of returning so we could pay. Twenty minutes went by, yet there were 4 servers standing back by the restaurant computer (possibly were you take the money and place orders) just talking. We tried to flag one of them down, but nobody came over. Finally, my husband took our check over one of these servers and asked if she could just take our money. She took the check but then went to find the server, instead of doing it herself. This was not our server's fault, as she was busy and these other servers must have had a minute to take our money. After another few minutes, our server came back with the credit slip for us to sign and we could leave. There must be a better system than this. Like I said originally, the food was good, hot and the server was very attentive. It just wasn't a great exiting experience. Don't think we will return to this location ever again.

The service wasn't good. I walked into the bar area about 730 on Sunday night. Two other people at the bar. Took a minute for the bartender to it knowledge and serve me and had to ask her to wipe off the bar in front of me which was covered with food and salt and pepper. Ordered the group or through the garden most disgusting. The baked potato was old and cold. Can't even describe the fish. I think that's that.

Terrible service! I said after the last time that we had terrible service that we wouldn't be back and I wish we hadn't. Our food came out wrong, we had no utensils once the food did come out, the server was nowhere to be found and was actually getting hit on by some guy when I was trying to find her to get silverware. She set hot plates down in front of my infant, and was again nowhere to be found when we were ready to pay. She dropped the check off and never came back. $55 for crap food and terrible service. We used to come in once a week but over the last few years this place has gone to crap. I won't be spending any more money here!

We were in a large group . We had two servers. Mine was the first order taken . The people in the group with us had the other server . They were done eating went out to smoke and came back before our food arrived . The only reason we didn't leave is my wife is dietetic and had already taken her dinner insulin . We received our meal 45 min after the rest of our party and it was cold . My wife ate her chilli just so her sugar wouldn't bottom out . We had to bring the rest of our food home and microwave it to eat it . The kicker is the other waitress told us our food had been up for over 30 min . Why couldn't she bring it if she had known that ? I understand people get busy but anyone can run food however it wasn't her table so why bother .

Beware of the new serving sizes. They're tiny! Ordered potato skins and it only came out with 4. Then ordered the small jumbo wings to find out it only includes 5 wings which were not jumbo. They were standard wings you get everywhere else. For $2 less my son's chicken wing kids meal came with 4 wings and fries. I would have been better off getting 2 kids meals for me. Come on, you're better than that. Serve people decent portions for the price.

Barleycorn's is an awesome local restaurant. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. Definitely recommend trying something on the menu that's homemade! All three locations are worth visiting and it's a good place to attend for major sporting events! Very community driven!

We have been to barleycorns over 10 times the last few months since the Bearcats played their home season at NKU due to 5/3 is being renovated. Barleycorns was absolutely fantastic. The servers, bartenders, and managers were always so helpful and very nice. They had a shuttle for those who did not want to deal with the traffic. But let’s talk about food - it is my life goal to find the best chicken wings wherever I go. Saying that I am pretty picky but the “doc” style wings are amazing. They fry them, dip them in hot sauce, and fry them again. Yeah, amazing I can’t believe they aren’t on the lists for best wings in the area.

Anyway, thank you barleycorns for being our home away from home! We will 100% still be back even if it’s a drive from Blue Ash. :)

We were there for the first time Saturday night, it was game night so it was packed. There were four of us in our group so we got a drink at the bar while we waited on our table. There is no where for people to wait on their table, your always in someone’s way either hanging around tables while people are eating or in the wait staffs way.

We ordered the Barleycorn Best, the wings were tiny but the cheese sticks were delicious but only 3 of them and only two potato skins.

Our sandwiches were really good and our waitress Lacy was very good.

Having a GREAT time tonight. Thomas is our waiter. He's attentive, happy, and knowledgeable. Our food was hot and quick and my husband even commented about the attention we got while we were seated 'wow! I think this is the first time in a very long time that I've been out at a restaurant where a manager was so present and even helped refill our drinks!'

We will most definitely be back!!

The service was terrible. We waited a half hour for our appetizers to get there. They weren't busy at all when we were there. We had things on our bill that we didn't even order and when we spoke with the manager he made it seem as if it was our fault the bill was wrong.

    Wouldn't recommend.

I have eaten here many times. Inside and out. Outside in good weather of course. This time it was really good as usual. I had Mamas Pot Roast and it was very tasty. I ate here with my kids and grandkids and we all enjoyed it. We had a great waitress too. Very friendly and took care of us really well. We will go back.

We went at 8:30 PM to eat before a 9:30 PM movie showing that we had already bought tickets for. We sat for 15 minutes and never even had our drink order taken. We got up and walked out. As we are leaving, the hostess chuckled and said sorry. Poor customer service and the patio wasn't even busy.

Made a reservation for 40 people on Tuesday its now Saturday. Specifically told them we wanted to watch basketball. Put us in a party room with NO TVS or even a view of one. Took our business elsewhere to watch the cats. You just lost over $1000 in business easy. Never going back!!

We had a great time here today and my wife and I loved the food. The owners kept coming over to talk to us. (We was there for awhile to meet Kevin Knox). They were extremely nice to us. We will be back.
