Went in this place with my mother to sell some old jewelry that we've had laying around for a long time. My mother, who isn't that socially adept, blurted out that she wanted the jewelry kept in front of her while the owner examined it to asses it's value. He handed the jewelry back and said something to the effect of "here's your jewelry, have a nice day". Very unprofessional!

I searched high and low for the perfect wedding engagement ring. I've been to all the big chain corner stores and downtown Traverse City stores only to be disappointed with pushy sales people and high priced average quality rings. Then I came across Hobart Jewelers. The owner was extremely knowledgeable about jewels and his prices were lower than the others AND for a higher quality ring. He took his time with me and didnt lay on the usual smooze and pressure. (My fiance loved the ring!)

Hobart Jeweler even has a high tech lazer machine that no one in town seems to have. I have a rather expensive fishing reel that had a broken bail. I brought it to him and in literally 2 minutes it was as good as new! And it was cheap to fix, rather than scrapping it.

The fishing reel worked so wonderfully, I referred my mother and her Red Hat friends to Hobarts for any of their jewelery repairs. They have saved so much money having their broken jewery repaired rather than buying new. If you need anything fixed, this is the place! Good workmanship and not expensive.

Horrible! I took my engagement ring to Hobart Jewelers to be repaired since it had a crack in the band. The first time I had them repair it, it turned out wonderfully and was very pleased. It however cracked again, and I took it back to Hobart to be fixed again, even though I feel like it was his poor workmanship that caused it to crack again. He promised to have it done by Friday, and call when it was done. Friday came and went, and I waited for the call to let me know that it was done. Never called. Finally, I got sick of waiting and called them. The woman on the phone said “Oh yes, it’s been done and is waiting to be picked up”. So they just never bothered to call, leaving me to wait. That wouldn’t have even been such a big deal if it wasn’t for what happened next. We went to pick up the ring, and although the crack was fixed, the band was bent. I was very upset, and when I confronted the woman behind the counter, she just brushed it off, saying she couldn’t do anything about it. Rude customer service, bad craftsmanship, and horrible communication skills.

The customer service here has to be the worst I have ever experienced. The owner, Brian, treated my mother so disrespectfully I was in shock. She was attempting to sell a diamond and he told her she wasn't making any sense, rolled his eyes at her when she asked politely if there was a problem, and he told her to get out of his store!! I have never in my life seen a place of business treat a customer so horribly, a customer who did nothing wrong. I highly urge anyone to go elsewhere.
