I have been going here off & on since 2005-2006. Unfortunately, it’s not even close to what it once was. I have been growing my hair out since April from a pixie cut & i’m quite certain that the student had no clue how to cut the style that we and the educator had discussed and i’m 100% sure that cut I received is not even remotely close to the direction I was going. Save your money, time and frustration. I’m going to a true master stylist to start working on a solution for a bad cut. I think there needs to be some serious discussions with the educators on how to bring back the standards that used to be associated with aveda.
I have been attending Aveda on hwy. 19 Clearwater now for over 3 years and I have to tell you this place is Fantastic! The staff is pleasant and helpful; their products are understandably a bit pricey but actually WORK! That said their service are quite reasonable. Getting a appointment is easy and usually get in when I need to. The Manager their is doing a Great Job - keep it up! Richie
If you're considering this as a school to jump start your career, spend your money elsewhere. The administration is disorganized to the point where recent graduates of the January 2017 class are still waiting for their MBLEX license exam to be scheduled. That's right, not waiting for their licenses but to be scheduled. Now I'm sure the school will blame the state but student paperwork was either never processed on time or correctly as it was reprocessed as recent as a few months ago. To make matters worse, the school has expressed zero (0) interest in helping any graduate find work which is an even bigger shame.
Incredibly disappointed in this business. Their facilities may be nice, but don't waste your money, or bother with a loan. Go elsewhere to pursue your career.
I had a thoroughly delightful experience at Aveda Institute Tampa Bay in Palm Harbor. My stylist is named Katie. I needed a refresher in make-up application. She is extremely professional, very friendly and validated what I know while quickly and efficiently guiding me with her vast knowledge. To top it off, it is super fun! It is like spending the afternoon with a friend trying different looks and cosmetics. Katie held her color shades like an artist's palette while she lightly brushed my face. She knew just which colors to choose. I like a natural look and she went with that but really brought out my individual beauty. I see and notice me, not my make-up. I really enjoyed this and it was very affordable. Thank you!
I had a wonderful experience at the Tampa/clear-water location. Me and my daughter came in for our first service. This is a cosmetology school, but the student we had for our services were highly professional. They give you a head and neck massage while performing your hair service. This is a fantastic option for salon services at a lower cost. The educator was overseeing the services and me and my daughter were treated like princesses. I felt as though I was a celebrity, being catered too by a staff of professionals. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience and will return. Lisa and Erica rocked!
If I could give 0 stars I would. I understand that you are getting your hair done by a "student" but I went in to get my red color refreshed and left with a completely different color of red even after telling both the student AND the educator that the red they selected was not the right color for what I wanted. When booking the appointment I was told if I knew the color of the previous brand I was using they would be able to color match it, when I showed it to my colorist rolled his eyes and said "I don't understand this" and the educator said "In OUR world your color does not exist". I even asked that if they were unable to match the color to let me go without getting my hair done as I didn't want to ruin my color but they assured me if anything the color would be a few shades lighter than my original color. I left with a dark red/brown hair color. When I told the colorist it was too dark his response was "well the sun will lighten it" I shouldn't have to fade my hair in the sun to get the color I'm looking for. They also explained to me that because I wanted a "difficult" color I now had to pay DOUBLE the price of what I was told when I booked the appointment and that I had to pay per bowl of dye. They used 1.5 bowls of dye and tried to charge me for 3. The only positive experience was the cashier who provided me with a bag of samples and brought the charge down to 2 bowls of dye because she felt bad that I was clearly unhappy with my hair. I still ended up paying MORE than I would have at my old salon (I recently moved to this area). Don't bother going here unless you want something simple and fool-proof done as they do not seem to do well with client interaction or "difficult" requests such as red hair dye.
If I could give them a negative six I would have. My daughter and I went in for a color and a cut. During consultation the instructor told my 19 year old daughter she had ringworm on her head. My daughter has a mole on her head since birth and we have seen a dermatologist since she turned 12 to check for skin cancer. My daughter than explained to the instructor that it was a mole and this woman had the nerve to tell my daughter that her mole was to round to be a mole and could only be ringworm. Again, my daughter said it was a mole. My daughter was utterly embarrassed. We left without any services rendered. I am beyond annoyed. ONE SHOULD NOT GIVE MEDICAL ADVICE WITHOUT A DEGREE
Extremly top rated serviceenjoyed the experience along with the stylist who went the extra mile! Love the products as well and the mission behind Aveeda! I highly recommend this place to anyone, and I will be back!! Thanks so much!!
Not bad. I recently moved to the area and had been going to an Aveda salon. I liked the stylist but for color, highlights and a brow wax, $250 was too rich for my blood so I tried here. Got a girl that was 8 weeks from graduating. Not a ton of personality talking to me until I found a subject she liked. She didn't completely cover my grey as much as I would've liked, but I do feel like she heard what I was saying about my color and toned it down to my liking--even did a good job explaining it to the instructor checking what I had said I wanted. She did not do my brows, but another student did and she did a good job--maybe even better that the professional that I was going to that was charging $18 instead of $10. Overall bill here with tip was $60. A big difference. Good enough, I'd try them again.
I've been going here for over 2 years. I have never had a bad experience. Each student is different in personality and skill. The last one I had a few times, Emily was absolutely the best all around. Of late, I have noticed that the instructors don't check the color saturation after it is applied or the barrier cream is not applied around your face prior to color unless you ask for it (which should be standard like in professional Aveda salons). All in all, I will continue to go because I am happy with the services. I think this is a great way for students to learn. As a nurse, I was a student once :)
