Great food. Good service. Great location right next to long island rail road. Perfect for a few drinks or dinner before going out for the night. Large selection of beers on tap and bottles. Plenty of tv's for sporting events or fights as well. Can't go wrong at this place.

The food is excellent, however, the steaks were a little under-cooked and the service is very lacking. Sat in the back room and the wait staff didn’t really pay attention to our table. They only brought the first drink never asking if another drink was wanted. Took a long time to get the check which was incorrect and had to question it followed by another waiting period to get it fixed. The staff was friendly overall, but just lacked in taking care of tables.

Good place to grab beer and food. Bar is normally way too loud. But the rest of the dining area is well kept. Table Service is very slow at times.

UPDATE Sept 2017: This place has really improved! Service is better and have had a few delicious American dishes. The mac and cheese is creamy and decadent.

Gave this place 3 tries. Although seated quickly, service is consistently poor after that. Slow, inattentive, frequent mistakes. Food is so-so, not really what you expect from a restaurant.
Wish this place were better, because there's not a lot of great restaurants around Kew Gardens. I guess there's not enough competition, maybe owners just see that people keep coming (there's no where else to go) and think everything is okay.

Great place. Bartenders are always friendly and quick. Food is very good. When the weather is nice, they have an outdoor area.

Great legendary Kew Gardens establishment. Kinda loud, but the young crowd keeps the party humming!
Great steaks, chops and fish on the menu. Excellent wait and bar staff. Fantastic tap beer selection, as well as bottled domestic and imported suds.
Austin Ale House also has an outdoor dining alcove, located in the midway on the NYC side of the LIRR, for a less noisy/more romantic dining experience.

Hands down the best chicken wings ever!! I come every Sunday when the wings are 35 cents. You have to order a minimum of ten and there's a two drink minimum, but you're going to need something to wash them down with anyway.
I did come here for brunch once and didn't really love it for that, it's really just your typical pub and I prefer a different brunch environment. But for wings and drinks? Definitely come here!!response / report this review -

The standard at Austin’s Ale House located in Kew Gardens are very poor.
The girl working at the bar was pleasant, but careless; she seemed distracted, I told her that we wanted separate bills, but she got our order wrong.The waiters helping delivering the food were careless when placing the plates down and their demeanor was rude.
The food… well let me put it this way it wasn’t great. The tacos were very difficult to enjoy since the chicken was too salty and the beef was too bland.
This whole experience at Austin’s Ale House came to a horrid conclusion when we wanted to pay, since we had ordered at the bar and there were not waiters in sight, we decided pay at the bar, at this point the girl was gone there was only a guy bartending. The bartender handed us one bill for the three of us, but we wanted separate bills as requested from the start, we asked him to split the bill and from the start his demeanor was extremely rude and unhelpful, that he shouted “no!” “I can’t do that”; I realized he was too rude, so I walked to the manager who was standing at the dining area of the restaurant. I explained what we wanted to do and the abrupt reaction of the bartender was shocking. He tried his best to accommodate us, but he wasn't knowledgeable enough and he seemed to confused about how to split the bill that he had to go to the bartender and asked him for assistance. The worst thing about this incident is that the bartender was so aggressive, rude and loud, at one point he was screaming at the manager about his reasons for not wanting to split the bill.
People at the bar were looking at him like he was gonna snap such a pitiful and sad behavior coming from someone trying to lure customers to spend more money at their restaurant. I even took a picture while the two were talking just because the bartender’s gestures were so violent and exaggerated that it was unreal. A random waitress came and asked us what was happening just because she saw the commotion between bartender and manager but when we told her, she gave us a look like “are you serious?” and she walked away.
The only conclusion we came up about this situation is that the bartender must be the owner of the restaurant, because there is not way a supervisor or manager would put up with such a bad behavior from a subordinate.
We finally ended up paying the whole thing as one bill because at this point it was clear to us that the manager and the bartender were going to be of much help. Even though we were paying all as one bill, the bartender kept arguing his point and being loud and disruptive as he was from the start. I couldn’t believe someone could be so argumentative for something as little as to split a bill. It’s 2017, splitting a bill shouldn’t be taken as an excessive request and your system should be capable as to process something as simple as that! otherwise void the first bill and start from square one. However, for this person's only option was to be unpleasant and uncooperative not a way to make customers welcome.
Definitely this was an unforgettable experience, but all for the wrong reasons. Needless to say but we won't be going back there for sure.

Classic local pub. The only down side is finding parking. I recommend the pork chops. They were as good as any I have ever had, and were so big that one was more than I could eat and I took the other one home.

We've been going to the Austin Ale House for many years now and are always really happy that we did. The menu is extensive and has choices for everyone in you party including the vegans, vegetarians, meat eaters and those needing gluten-free choices.
It is one of those reliable old standbys that provides consistently good food and service.
Stop there next time you go to the Kew Gardens Cinema or any time you want a really nice relaxing and enjoyable dining experience. (Great for sports fans too as they broadcast many of the local teams and critical matches in most sports)
