A surprising little treasure for a nice little day trip get away from Vegas! The visitors center is informative and interactive. The people at the centre were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a lovely walk around the boardwalk behind the centre and saw a few jackrabbits, birds and fish. Wish I knew I could swim in one of the reservoirs, I would have brought suitable attire! And to top it off, there was no charge.

Beautiful little corner of the West. Start at the visitor's center and the walk around Crystal Spring. Although you won't actually be able to see any of the pup fish, the drive up to Devil's Hole is still worth it.

A gem in the desert. Just a short drive from Death Valley, but no one knows of this quiet oasis. Natural springs in the area have created a ecosphere that is surprising and enchanting. The water in the desert drew developers in the 1980s, but fortunately that did not materialize. The bureau of land management runs the place now and has been carefully restoring the conditions to allow Ash Meadow to forge its own ecosystem once again.

The kids and even the wife loved it. The visitors center was beautiful. The volunteers were friendly and even put on their video for us. There is so much to see we will be going back for more.

This place is amazing with a good days worth of hikes, walks and even a little kayaking. It's also so close to Las Vegas and Death Valley for an awesome day trip or an addition to your Death Valley vacation. A must see.

Most people just pass by this wonderful park on their way to "Death Valley". So they miss out on the beauty of this well maintained park. It has water, picnic areas, hiking, a board walk, and the "Devils Hole". By all means go to Death Valley check it out, and spend the $20 dollars on the entrance fee. But if you have the time to see this oasis in the middle of the desert, you will be rewarded with a nicer experience than Death Valley. And it's free.

Very nice and relaxing place. There's a boardwalk that you can take that is accessible for handicapped or young children who can't walk on a traditional trail. The natural spring pool is beautiful, giving you the urge to jump right in even though you can't. There's another place you are allowed to swim at though. Overall a great place to get back to nature and get away for a bit.

A hidden gem with hiking trails and a chance to see alkaline desert riparian habitat. We were here birding in mid-March and taking pictures. We missed the migration but did see Red-headed Ducks and a cormorant on the reservoir. We also got to see the endangered pup fishes, a minnow, swimming the spring-fed pool 1/4 mile from the visitor center. Also saw a flock of Olive-sided Flycatchers.

Serendipity brought us here (lodging nearby to avoid the price gouging down in Death Valley) to discover a natural wonder that is certainly the equal of anything in the National Park. The National Fish and Wildlife Service offers a great visitor center explaining the wonders of this place with numerous boardwalks and drives to see the beautiful blue springs and the rare wildlife they shelter. We came for a "quick" morning visit and ended up spending much of the day.

I loved this place. All trails have the boardwalk except the devil's hole. Dogs are welcome here on leash, restrooms at all stops, very clean, well maintained, beautiful water holes with pupfish, water is like glass and crystal clear. Worth a stop here for sure. Visitor center was beautiful and new, the woman working there was knowledgeable and friendly.

Ash Meadows is beautiful, stylish, fun, small, subtle, quirky & interesting. Specifically the buildings & walkways are new, beautiful, stylish and fun; the actual pupfish is small & the history of this location is fascinating – I vaguely remember hearing about this environmental battle growing up - thank goodness “Calvada Lakes” was never built. It would be a ghost town today. The restoration is impressive, the waters are pristine with a deep blue. However, if you are looking for dramatic, knock-your-socks-off nature, this is not your place. We loved it & it was a highlight of our recent trip to Death Valley.

AshMeadowsNationalWildlifeRefuge is a real desert oasis!!Very few authentic oases exist here in theUS,most are actually fed by rivers that pass underground and back to the surface.In a true oasis,the water comes from deep under the bedrock,as inAMNWR,actually from almost5000feet!!There are 19endemic species(existing only here and nowhere else in the world!) of plants and animals,such as theAshMeadows egret and the hardy little pupfish!The best place to view them is at theKings' reflection pool,where you can see the waters bubbling up from deep under the surface of our planet,accesible by an interpretational trail.There is also a boardwalk for families to amble and learn all about this unique,wondrous place!!A true gem in the desert,far from the hustle of city lights,it has the darkest nightskies as well,for fabulous stargazing,very memorable and a worthy stop alongHwy373enjoy!!

An oasis in the middle of the desert. Great boardwalk trail, which is awesome for families with strollers or wheelchairs. Shiny new visitor's center with great interactive displays. Overall, my family had a great time. Just FYI, the roads are packed down gravel so if you don't want your car to get dirty best to avoid.
