I purchased a sofa through Art Van located in Chesterfield, MI. The sofa was two pieces, one was available right away and the other piece was special delivery. I requested the piece that was available to be delivered as soon as possible. Too our surprise, the one piece of the sofa was much larger than anticipated (our fault completely). The very next day I called Art Van to return the sofa in its entirety and was told I would be refunded within 3-5 business days. On the fifth business day, I called Art Van to follow as I had not received a refund or a call for them to pick up the one piece of the sofa. I was informed that they had no record of my return and that I would be charged restocking fees as it was past 72 business hours now. The sales associate that was assisting me Sam was extremely rude when I was explaining the situation and would not let me finish speaking. I requested he returned the product with me while I was on the phone and he refused since he had 'paying customers' in the store and stated he would return it when he had time. At this point, I requested to speak to the manager and Sam refused to grant this request. He stated there was only one manager and he didn't know how to transfer from the phone he was talking on. After speaking with Sam and getting nowhere, I called back immediately and spoke with Jolene. The only positive experience during my interactions with Art Van was with Jolene who was able to speak with a manager on my behalf and refunded our purchase on the phone. Unfortunately, I will never be shopping at Art Van due to this experience.
I worked with Dale He was somewhat helpful after we spent alot of money their and was willing to spend more,at this time! last December we spent quite a bit to!After the sale they refused to honor their Advertisement, that states if u spend so much u get a T.V or a Chromebook!after purchasing our mattress and box spring (almost $2000.)they then handed us a piece of paper with alot of small print saying no that sale is for the main floor!Hell we we're on the main floor! There's only one floor in this store! We even uped our credit limit! No I Don't Believe we will be Back!Shame on You it was like we we're at the carnival! Karen Lincoln
I saved about 25 dollars compared to other stores, i walked in knowing exactly what i wanted at opening time and a saleman immediately entered my personal space and just had to assist me through my time inside which i didnt enjoy. i told him what i wanted and he seemed annoyed. Classic saleman hounding, and i dont see a need for it unless you ask. i dont like going to art van because of the hounding, its not peaceful. Havent been there in years and now i remember why.
We purchased a bed and was not happy with it. So My wife and I went back to the store and they sold us a better mattress for $1400 more and guaranteed that we would be happy with it. Year later we are still aren’t happy with this new mattress. So we are forced to make a payment on something that we are truly not happy about spending $4000 on.
Been to this Art Van twice and both times
I walked out. How this place stays open is
Truly incredible!! Extremely poor management
I took my MONEY to Art Van on Hall road.
Got treated with respect of a buying customer.
Art Van Chedterfield deserves ZERO stars.
Misrepresentation. Delivery was missing stuff. Cleaning kit came opened. They billed us with a late fee before we received everything even though the salesman said we wouldn't get billed until we received everything. Never received a bill, my wife found it online. It's been a month and we still haven't received 3 parts of our order. When you go in, the guys are all very friendly and act professional. When it comes time for the store to do what the salesperson promises that is where things fall apart. I don't think I will ever buy anything from Art Van again. They purposely charge a restocking fee because they want to deter people who are lied to from returning merchandise. Once you complain they don't want to deal with you anymore. During this whole process not one call back from the salesman to apologize. The store manager, once again, was nice on the phone. Still haven't received my dresser.
I've never shopped at Garner White, but I will now.
The service is always good when I shop here. The prices are ridiculous. Even the clearance center is pricey. I'm a woodworker and the couches in particular seem very poorly made as I haven't had a couch from them last more than a few years.
I've been in this store twice, once to look at some furniture and I was hounded by salespeople, despite telling them that I could not buy as I haven't closed on my house, but that I would take their card and if I liked something in came back, I would ask for them. Then the second time I was with my mom, she wanted to pay off a couch I bought the day before at a separate Art Van (this one was closer to her house). It was a whole ordeal and the lady at guest services (Kathy) was ridiculously rude. I literally said "excuse me" to her for a solid 5 minutes waving my hand in her face and she ignored me. Her co-worker came from the back because she thought there was another person that needed help. For a company/employees that rely on commission for a paycheck, you seriously need to revalue your hiring choices. I have this two stars because honestly, Art Van has a monopoly on the market here and their products are far superior. But their services deserves 0 stars.
Very confusing visit. I wanted a headboard, dresser, and a tall cabinet. I added it up in my head and it came back like $600 more than I estimated. Also he added on the mirror that I never said I wanted. Also there was another $250 add on charges. My head board was $299 and they added $75 protection on it. Then another $75 for wood cleaner kit and $99 for delivery. I never said I wanted any of those. I asked for a print out to take home and show my husband and they said they can not give that unless i leave a deposit of at least $50! I will never go back to this place
Terrible customer service! Purchased some living room furniture a few weeks back. Once we had decided on a piece, the sales guy tried selling us a fabric protection plan that we adamantly and repeatedly told him we did not want. He even went as far as borderline insulting us by asking us why would we spend thousands of dollars on a couch AND NOT purchase the protection plan. When we went back to get our furniture the next day we find out he actually charged us for it anyways. We asked that it be refunded. They said it would take 3-5 days to refund. In the fifth Day I called to find out where my refund was. They had no idea why I hadn't been refunded yet. They did a little digging and got back to me. They said once we pick up our furniture it will be refunded. I advised them that the furniture had already been picked up days prior. She apologized and said it would be refunded within 3 to 5 days. Two weeks later the refund still has not hit my account so I called them back. They still have no idea what's going on. When they got back to me they tell me that there will not be a refund issued. That when we chose to opt out of the fabric protection it actually raised the cost of our couch to what the cost of the fabric protection would have been. I will never buy a piece of furniture from this art van again.
The worst customer experience I have ever encountered. I found a great deal for a sectional online. I noticed Art Van had the same sectional for a much higher price so I went to look at it on 2/26/17 to ensure I liked it before I made the online purchase. I had already read on their website that Art Van will not match an online price but the salesman kept pressuring me. I informed him of the deal I found and stated I would much rather give my business to a local store than buy from an online retailer. The salesman called his manager and was able to price match. I specified I wanted the sectional and ottoman in grey. I also specified I wanted the love seat on the left and the chaise on the right. The salesman ensured me that he understood and I would receive the same orientation that was on display. I scheduled to pick the items up the following day, 2/27/17. GREAT or so I thought When loading the ottoman I noticed it was brown. Long story short, there order was entered wrong and a brown ottoman was order. I would now have to make an additional trip for Art Van's mistake. I asked for compensation for my time and the inconvenience. The manager said mistakes happen and it would not be reasonable to offer compensation. I informed him I would not return to the store in the future and left. Upon arriving home, unloading and unwrapping, I discovered that the salesman entered the wrong code again and ordered the incorrect orientation! The love seat is on the right instead of the left and vice versa. I immediately call Art Van and they say they give me a $50 gift certificate and I can exchange the couch on 3/1/17. First, I was not interested in a $50 gift card which would only result in me spending more money in a store I now despise. Second, what did they expected me to do with three pieces of packed and wrapped furniture for three days? And I must load and unload twice as a result of Art Vans error? I returned the couches that night, 2/27/17. Again, I asked for compensation for my loss of time and frustration. Again, I spoke to the manager who refused to give me any form of discount after ART VAN made not only one but TWO mistakes on my order. I had to threaten to cancel my order twice before the manager finally agreed to give me free shipping. The delivery is scheduled for 3/7/17, now I have an empty living room for a week as I have already disposed of my old furniture. The manager was extremely rude and not once did he apologize. I wish I would have asked for his name. Middle-age, Caucasian, dark hair and chubby face. His lack of administrative and managerial skills was obvious and is a direct reflection of the incompetency of his staff. How can a salesman incorrectly code an entire order? How did this order go through the hands of several individuals and not once was it questions that a brown ottoman was ordered with a grey sectional? I honestly still cannot believe how I was treated. I will NEVER return. Art Van does not value your business what-so-ever. Buyer beware! I cannot recommend in good faith.
Salesman was good but Harrison, the "consultant" let me and wife walk out or $90. I'll just keep shopping
We had wonderful salesman named Dale who helped purchase furniture. It was delivered on time , top quality and we have had many compliments!!
I've never had worse service in my life. A year ago March 2016 I bought all my furniture from them and it was broken on delivery. I have called every month sometimes twice a week about them fixing their mistake. I called again today and they tell me that they are going to switch out all my furniture that I have lived with for a year now. I have never been so upset in my life. Don't shop here, clearly they don't care about their customers.
