My wife was going to be in town in January for an ACM conference and had booked a studio at this property for several days. The property is in a great location for her needs and they have pet friendly rooms.
The booking was made via phone, during which, the booking agent was exceptionally helpful, informative, and happy to answer all our questions. Unfortunately, my wife's plans changed and she needed to cancel the booking.
Their cancellation policy includes a pretty hefty charge for cancellations ($150 in this case). It is clearly denoted on their website. Having given the property more than a month to rebook the room, we contacted Danielle Olds who helped us resolve the issue. The property team is very professional and everyone we spoke with treated us with respect.
Having not actually been able to visit the property, I withheld the extra star.
Extremely relaxing, very comfortable atmosphere, clean room. Mary Beth was very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back.
Very cozy laid back atmosphere. They have a bunch of outdoor games, a pool, and you can pretty much walk or ride bike anywhere on the island from here.
Wow! 5 stats! Convenient location. Large clean room with comfy king size bed. Table chairs mini fridge microwave, attentive friendly staff. Thanks for great post Hurricane Irma stay. Great rate. Traveled solo.
Anchor Inn and Cottages is exactly as it is described and pictured. It is a budget "motel" which means there aren't any frills or luxurious linens, but what you do get is a clean convenient space to lay your head after a day at the beach. We stayed in the standard room which consists of one room with a king sized bed, small table, small fridge and microwave, and bathroom. Which was fine for our needs. The fresh towels we requested daily always smelled freshly laundered and clean.
The only suggestions/criticisms I would offer is to have an area outside to wash off the beach sand before guests enter their room or cottage. And, I have to say the shower is way too tiny!
Overall, I would recommend Anchor Inn if you are on a budget and looking for clean accommodations to lodge in while enjoying Sanibel. All of the staff I encountered were really friendly and extremely accommodating - which is a huge plus!
This is very reasonably priced for the area (Summer season), and though it is an older property, it is clean and reasonably well maintained. Our visit was the first week of August 2017. The standard room bathroom was very tight, and might be an issue for someone with mobility trouble, or of a larger than average size. I was allowed to check in early, and the wi-fi really worked well. Cable TV is provided, so your little one can watch Disney while you get ready to hit the beach. Staff were friendly and helpful. The pool is clean and well maintained. There is a front porch area with a table and chairs for each room. If you're heading to Sanibel, this is a reasonable choice.
Rooms were clean, friendly staff, lots of games around the property to occupy some time while relaxing. Pool was very clean and warm. Only complaint was the loft bed is very uncomfortable as it sinks very badly in the middle.
Advertisement was misleading, thought it would be closer to the beach, you literally have to drive miles to get to any kind of water, room was nice, clean, but people next to us had a large dog that woke us up barking. Overall, nice place but crappy location if you want to be near a beach.
Looked rough from outside and inside. Bathrooms were outdated and looked terrible. Many cool turtles and lizards in the swamp out back. There was a sign that said, "Don't feed the alligators" out by the swamp. The swamp was awesome and creepy at the same time.
Clean, cozy, friendly staff. Great Inn for the price even making my pet's feel welcomed with a doggie basket in the room.
Mold made us sick very damp musty rooms. Bugs running up & down window behind headboard. Dead & Alive bugs behind furniture. Very dirty. Mold makes people sick. You cannot keep painting over mold, and renting out rooms. Clothing as well as us and our pet had to be deloused/washed thoroughly. Filthy gross ,sickening.
