Avoid like the plague. If Party Poker was a brick and mortar casino, this would be it. This is the most toxic poker room in Black Hawk. The players, dealers, and managers are all abrasive. The promotions are non-existent. The bad beat is nearly impossible, and the rake is obscene. There are also cheaters that the management does nothing about. If you like being treated like badly and having your money taken this is the place for you. The Golden Gates is the best poker room in Black Hawk. Be sure you go left at the light instead of right.

Large casino with a large variety of slots. Modern and clean place to gamble and relax. Rooms are great but unfortunately at an unusually high price during weekends. Other casinos within walking distance has equally nice and recently remodeled rooms for less cost. Buffet has a good variety of delicious foods.

We travel to Ameristar every December for a company end of the year party. The staff is generally wonderful. Typically the people working the event can be rather short tempered and snarky. However, the bar tenders and all other hotel and casino employees are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms never disappoint, very clean and orderly. The food is always delicious. We are not gamblers but everyone we go with loves to gamble there and never goes to another casino.

The Ameristar was an amazing experience fir myself and a couple buddies of mine! We wanted a night to let loose and have a little fun and the Ameristar was the place to do that! The staff there was friendly and was attentive to my and my friends needs, we had a great time in the casino and room service was awesome. Not in the room longer than to sleep and get readyit was still comforting to get a quiet good nights sleep when I was in the room. I definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone who goes to Blackhawk for a night if fun and excitement!

So grateful to have taken my mom here for a weekend getaway before she passed away! Everything about it was amazing!! It was the first visit for both of us. Every staff member we encountered was extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating.

The food was hot and fresh. The pool was clean and the hot tub was relaxing. Our room looked like we were being treated like royalty even though I know we were in a more affordable room. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

Thank you for making my mom's last days so enjoyable and memorable!!

The Amersitar was awesome. The rooms are insanely nice and well kept. The beds were comfortable. Food offerings are great. The staff are all really polite and friendly. The pool and hot tub are on the top floor and are great. I would highly recommend this place!

Went to blackhawk in Dec 2016. We visited almost all casinos but Monarch and came to the conclusion that Ameristar is the best hotel to stay and play in Black Hawk. Hotel lobby and casino is beautiful. Staff is helpful and courteous. We were upgraded to the Spa suite and the suite was AMAZING! Hot tub and pool at roof top was mind blowing. Food choices are limited though. Buffet was slightly pricey. Though overall one of the best experiences ever.

I was at the hotel for a 2 day conference in September 2017. I reserved a handicap accessible room, and I asked for a room close to the elevator. Getting from the parking garage to the front desk, up to my room and to the floor where the conference was involved a large amount of walking. I asked for a wheelchair, and was told they had none, that they were broken or stolen. They gave me a list of other hotels in the area, but they said their wheelchairs were reserved for their own guests. The room I received was a long ways away from the elevator. The "handicap" room did not have a walk-in shower, so I had to step over the side of the tub to take a shower (although they did have a seat for me, it was on the back of the tub, and I had to get the shower head from the front of the tub). When I complained to the front desk when I checked out, all he said was "sorry."

We had a great evening at the Ameristar. We went to the pool area and viewed the city from the balcony and also admired the beautiful and inviting pool and hot tub. The hotel and casino are beautiful, clean and I won a bit of money. It was nice that the machines were not so tight. That will help me return. I have been to the spa recently with a friend also and thoroughly enjoyed a massage and hot tub. Thank you Ameristar

Nicely designed suites, good food, friendly staff. The housekeeping staff could definitely do a better job. The furniture was stained and it took them 3 days to change our sheet, which was requested on day 1 because it was stained at the time of check in..ugh. We had to sleep on top of the covers.. it was cold! $300/night should command better service and a clean room. I really like this resort in spite of the housekeeping staff's disregard of the guest's experience.

I play craps all over the country, these are the best dealers I have played with. The crew have a great chemistry together. They like to see winning. Tables here go cold for long periods of time and it is hard to win at Ameristar. I am 1 for 3 at this casino.

Upon entering a bathroom there was absolutely no sign indicating a wet floor. My sister feel hard and hurt her shin (bruises over a week later still). All they were worried about was not getting sued. We are not looking for handouts but a comped lunch perhaps, or anything at all really??? Would have been a nice gesture as an "I'm sorry we screwed up." All they care about is not getting sued. "Well we were not negligent, it was your fault." Really great! What a great bunch of folks really showing they care. They didn't have a wet floor sign anywhere (we have a video) and that is not the point. The point is your lack of compassion is pretty telling. Maybe you should look towards bed and breakfasts to see how you SHOULD treat people.

Drove from Aurora on a whim (I woke up feeling good), the location is breathtaking. I would recommend going just for the drive. The casino was very clean, the temperature wasn't too cold like I'm use to in to Michigan, plenty of beverage stations, bathrooms were very clean and well kept. I only wish it was larger and offered more interactive games. All in all will definitely be back.

My wife and I payed for a deluxe room last week. The "sunken garden tub" they advertise, is a regular bathtub, not anything special or different. Which is why I wonder why they emphasize on it in the room description. My wife was excited for a nice relaxing bath, didn't happen.. It also took 4 hours to get the towels and pillows that we requested. The room service food we ordered seemed like it sat under a heat lamp a while. There was also a wedding reception on our floor, which could be heard and smelled from the end of the hall where our room was. Closing a couple doors could have done a lot to fix that. For how much we payed, it left a lot to be desired. The buffet was great though, and the actual casino was lively and fun. I guess the hotel portion didn't fulfill our expectations, which was one of the reasons we decided on the Ameristar.
