I am very pleased to highly recommend All Creatures Veterinarian Services in Long Beach. Whether our dog, Charlotte is just not feeling quite right, or we need to board her for a few nights, the staff at All Creatures has always been helpful and very competent. My most recent experience has been with Dr. Ray and each time he met with me about Charlotte, I felt very confident that his prescribed treatment was right on the money.
I also have to commend the front desk personnel as well as the Veterinarian Technician, Liz, who did a great job making our Charlotte comfortable and "happy" to be at the vet.
I cannot rate the entire staff at All Creatures any higher. Just a terrific group of professionals who are crazy about our beloved 4 legged family members!
Had a great appt with Dr Geltman and Adam, the vet tech. Kind, courtesy, knowledgeable. They spent all the time needed to answer our questions and connect with Zeppelin. Been coming here for almost 20 years!!
Dr Geltman is very knowledgeable and treats all our pets with compassion. We just love the way he takes care of our pets. The office staff are pleasant and handle our requests in a timely and pleasant manner. We wouldn't think of going anyway else.
Dr. Gelfand is the smartest and most thoughtful vet I know. When my dog Mike cracked his shoulder blade, Dr. G's exam started with every individual toe and proceeded joint by joint up to the shoulder, at which point an x-ray was in order. (The local vet's exam was, in contrast, cursory and uninformative. Local vet certainly didn't find the cracked shoulder blade.) I've sent neighbors to him for dogs with locally "inexplicable" or "un-treatable" problems or for second opinions. If I needed medical treatment, I'd probably call Dr. G first.
I have personally known Dr Gelfand since 1983 when I got my first German Shepherd Dog. Dr Gelfand has consistently been the "best vet" that I have gone to. He has a genetics degree, he is excellent at diagnosing all kinds of things, he is excellent at orthopedic surgery (first gsd had 2 hip surgeries for dysplasia at about 1 year old, and she lived to just a few days shy of her 12th birthday). Our friends and neighbors in NJ who have gone to Dr Gelfand for a "second opinion", have all had Dr Gelfand perform the surgery on their dogs (driving to/from Jersey City NJ-Long Beach NY. They have all been very, very satisfied. Our friend's dog had widespread cancer which the local vet in JC diagnosed as a "sprain". It really kills me every time I see someone complain about the cost. First, All Creatures always has the most updated equipment. While you might not care when going in for yearly shots, one would most definitely care if your pet needed that updated, costly equipment while saving your pet's life. Second, no one "makes" a client go to All Creatures. The people who make appointments there do so of their own free will. You can always ask about the cost BEFORE you go there. And personally, the difference in cost between the local vets by my house and All Creatures has been negligible; the difference in quality is incalculable. You need more examples of the quality of Dr Gelfand's work, you say? Two hip dysplasia surgeries, one shoulder fracture that required surgery (local vet surgery was "sprain"), 2-3 ACL surgeries, correct diagnosis of widely disseminated testicular cancer (local vet said "hip sprain" in the absence of any known injury), humane treatment of lymphoma (local vet diagnosis was "not sure"), correct treatment x 3 for anaphylatic shock (was at big important vet in NYC when my dog started having symptoms of anaphylactic shock, I told the receptionist (I knew what was going on because it had happened before) and they left me in the waiting room -->I called Dr Gelfand and he told me what to do to stop the reaction and saved my dog's life, etc, etc. Have I sometimes found the front desk folks not helpful? Yes, yet I can personally say that when there was a big problem, it was addressed, permanently. I have to wonder whether stress or anger (at things other than All Creatures) plays a role in the negative comments. Even after 30 years, I have nothing but respect and trust for Dr Gelfand. Dr Gelfand's attributes: very intelligent (genetics degree plus veterinary degree), kind, caring, goes out of his way to help, is thorough, performs a methodical exam and leaves no joint untouched (limping dog? Check ALL of the dog's joints, not just the one you think might be the problem), answers emails, excellent surgeon, compassion (just ask my first dog) I could go on but you get the point. Emergencies aside, would you hire a contractor without asking at least an estimate for the cost??? No, so stop complaining about the price, please. 5 stars for Dr Gelfand, every time!
For the past 25+ years, the physicians and staff of All Creatures have cared for all of our "fur babies"
4cats,1dog). They have been extremely caring, honest and professional at all times and I would not trust any other facility with their care.

Nice vet, great service, but always end up owing them 1.5-2.5 times what the estimate is
My dog received a careless examination during which the vet got cleansing solution all over my dogs eyes and showed no compassion to my whimpering, troubled dog. The front desk staff were complaining about other customers on the phone while I was waiting to be checked out and were over all rude, unprofessional, and unfriendly when I dealt with them. To top it off, I received expired medication.I can't make this stuff up! Unprofessional, careless service, I will not return. Don't recommend this place. BEWARE!
Caring and considerate staff. Dr was very informative and took her time with us.
My boyfriend's coworker referred us to All Creatures as our usual vet (that we'd been using for 6 years) wasn't equipped to do X-rays. I was really pleased with our experience. Everyone there, from the front desk, to the vet techs and the doctors go above and beyond. The initial consultation with Dr. Geltman went very well, so we brought our dog in for X-rays and since he was going under and he needed a dental cleaning, we did it all at once. Needless to say we were nervous, but the team was compassionate, patient and have such confidence in what they do that it put us at ease. When we picked up our dog after his procedure, he seemed very well cared for - they even cut his nails and one of the vet techs mentioned that she cuddled with him while he was recovering, which I very much appreciated :) We will be using All Creatures as our primary vet going forward.
The staff is very helpful and I barely had to wait. They make my pup feel safe and comfortable when he's there. Very knowledgable doctors as well. Great experience!
I have been a client for 20 years. Many good qualities with the Dr's and the staff. They call back when they say so. They take the time to actually get to know the pet, no rush in rush out, they let the animal (in my case two dogs) get comfortable before any exam begins
They are not pushy in regards to vaccinations as I do not vaccinate my dogs any longer due to my own research. They are very open minded as far as listening to what you (the client) have to say/offer in regards to what research you may have done on your own
People often complain about price (in other aspects of life as well) but if the product in this case is care for my dogs then why would the price matter ? Great practice and I cannot thank them enough for actually caring
