  Alfred E. Bike is a Kalamazoo treasure, as much as Sarcozy Bakery and Martini's Reataurant are. Created, funded, built from the floor up by locals who love their product, these establishments (and many others) contribute mightily to the character of this community, and are part of the reason so many of us live here by choice.
  
  Alfred E. Bike has fine products at fair retail prices, and a knowledgeable and skilled staff who are bicycle people. An honest review does not try to compare buying a mass market bike at a discounted price at Meijer or WalMart, to a shop that uses its employee's experience and knowledge to fit you to the product, whether it is an expensive racing machine, or an inner tube, or a cone wrench.
  
  That said, I find Alfred E. Bike's prices to be very competitive, in the shop and on line. Yes, you will not find a new bicycle here for $100. What you will find are quality products, and excellent customer service. Perhaps you miss that kind of retail experience in the 21st century? In order to purchase quality, or obtain good service, I to go to downtown Kalamazoo and shop at Alfred E. Bike. I recommend you do so.

  Walked in on 6/13/16 around 5p-6p. Looked around for about 10 minutes. Had one guy (not even sure if he worked there) say hi to me. No one else said anything to me. Got the feeling I wasn't wanted there so I left.

  I purchased a new crankset from them online and the fit and finish didn't quite match my high expectations. I was being quite inconvenient, but their customer service was polite, prompt and very helpful. I ended up choosing to return the item, which they happily obliged to - they even provided me a shipping label which is always much appreciated. Not many places even do this for their customers.
  
  Out of the many online bike retailers out there, my experience purchasing online at AEBike was definitely positive. I would recommend them.

  Price was good. I have a problem with there shipping department. I ordered my parts on a Monday morning and they didn't ship them until Wednesday I would have like the parts faster seeing how they are only one state away. I will probably not purchase anything from them again.

  Just had a bike fit done at Alfred E Bike. The staff are just tremendous. I was suffering numbness in the feet while riding. New shoes, cleat adjustment and a front stem and I am rolling without numbness and riding way more efficiently. Thanks everyone for your great work.

  My wife and i are keen road cyclists in the UK. While visiting friends at Gull Lake Michigan we were keen to rent some road bikes. Doug and the team were so friendly and helpful, Doug did us a great deal on 2 week rental of two lovely bikesmy wife's was a brand new Giant avail!
  We were delighted with the quality of service, the bikes and the price!
