Was there for an event this past weekend and saw the major food safety issues happening at the meat bar. They were giving away lamb chops and cutting rare meat on a cutting board. The dude who was cutting it up had no gloves on most of the time and was eating while telling guests about the products. He also made comments about how he wanted to promote meat on earth day since there were so many "vegan heads" promoting products that day. on earth day.. Then, they wiped down the wood board with a towel after an hour of cutting and serving meat (no cleaner and the towel had stains on it from the juice from the meat) then proceeded to cut watermelon on it for a melon salad. If you know anything about food safety, this should have been a GIANT red flag. The managers and owners were standing right there watching it happen. Never buying any prepared food there ever again if this is how they prepare and share food with customers.

I can think of no redeeming qualities of this grocery store. The prices are ludicrous, the aisles are cramped, and the location is fairly awkward. I've never seen so many vagrants inside a grocery store at one time. Had to flee to the nearest WF just to remind myself grocery shopping could be fun.

Meh. The breakfast burritos are good but vary too significantly in quality from one day to the next. Biggest reason to go is because they are close.

Was very dissapointed to find out the hard way that their store hours changed from being open till 10pm daily to 9pm. I visited the store a few times at 9:45 pm only to find the parking lot dark and the doors locked when it clearly STILL says open from 7am to 10pm on the front door. While every other aspect of the store is great this was hard news to learn as one of the hundreds of college students residing within walking distance, the store used to being open till 10 meant I could grab a snack, drink or make a full shopping trip in the evening when I had less commitments, now I'll have to drive to Safeway or King Soopers to fill that need which will be far less convenient. I hope that management reconsiders their hours and returns to the later closing at least during the week!!

Expensive, but good. Watch out for items and brands that are also sold at other grocery stores for cheaper. Also, their cafe is pretty good! The food is good and usually priced by weight, and you know that what you are eating is going to be healthy. The priced by weight oatmeal bar in the morning is very good, usually I spend from 2-4 dollars for a very generous helping, plus already cut up fruit and other easy to add toppings. The coffee place has 6 different kinds of chai, my favorite is the sanctuary chai because you cant get it commonly at other places in boulder. They also have a small liquor store inside of the grocery store that sells wines, spirits, and some fancy beers and ciders.

I like the selection of Japanese dishes offered at the buffet here. I think that they are unique. However, they don't guarantee Monsanto-Bayer GMO free ingredients. So I prefer Trader Joe"s.

This is a reboot of the original Alfalfa's at this location (before they were purchased by Whole Foods. They claim they have the biggest selection of organic food in Colorado. Plus a great juice bar!

The Asian section makes great meals. My favorite is a "bento box" with glazed salmon, brown rice and several authentic Japanese sides. Price is reasonable and it's prepared quickly.

Cool store! Reminds me of a small scale local Whole Foods Market, great source of healthy to eat foods and tons of prepared food selections. Some of their prepped foods are a bit pricey per pound. But if you're eating healthy. What do you care!?

Great local grocery store with several prepared meal options, too. Lots of organic and bulk items. Liquor store onsite. I gave it four stars because it's too expensive for regular grocery shopping for me.

Vegetarian, Vegan, Meat, just lovely. Local food, helpful staff. It might not be the cheapest, but with a great cafe in store, it is an absolute delight. Also sells 'free from' cosmetics, soaps etc, so great for finding products for people with allergies.

Wonderful grocery choices and not much else. I just spent 240$ for 3 bags30$ of which was meats, the rest cheeses, crackers, chips & 23$ in vitamins. Cashier Hope was a snotty rude experience after I suggested she not make me wait mid- transaction for another customer who forgot an item across the store.
I don't have to spend that kind of money to be treated so poorly.. I can get that for free.response / report this review -

Great organic and local produce, etc. Not as pricey as they were in the past. Nice cafe area, although the prepared food is a little high priced. Good though, if you happen to be there at the right time. Chocolate glazed doughnuts are great if you can get them in the morning.

So good to have them back. Long history in Boulder at this location. Was one of the first natural grocers some 30+ years ago. Merged or was bought by wild oats can't remember which. Doesn't matter though. Great staff and selection one of my favorite places to visit when I'm in town. Was the best lunch stop around when I was at Boulder Highschool WAY back in the day.
