Stayed here while visiting Tufts for parents weekend. The location is great for Tufts - its about a 20-25 minute easy walk. Davis Square and the subway to Boston are about 5-10 away. The hotel is clean and is decorated as you would expect for an old inn. (we had a canopy bed in our room) The only complaint was the size of the bathroom, which did not have enough room for all of our toiletries. (this is the nature of an older building). Breakfast and parking were both included.

The location is ok, not the most convenient location, but the ~10 minute walk to the subway station isn't bad. The rooms are very nice, very pretty and historically preserved. The service and management is very nice and accommodating. All around very nice place for a much better price than big corporate hotels, even if the location isn't necessarily ideal.

Would recommend this B&B. Service was great as we arrived with some big(and unhandy) suitcases, the offered up a closet where we could store them. Things like this are what you look for in a bed and breakfast. Location is sup optimal but doable. Rooms were quite big and the beds were amazing, small improvements could be made like a main light and a bigger bathroom. You can always ask anything to the staff! The atmosphere is great and very oldschool.

Beautiful places they own both of these with the small carriage house in the back. Room was clean, bathroom was clean and continental breakfast. Just outside of Boston and very close to Somerville. So nice location with out all the traffic. Would definitely recommend this place.

A BED & BREAKFAST FOR THE RACIST, SEXIST & FILTHY:
I have never written a review, whether good or bad, on any place of business in my life. However, after booking one week at A Cambridge House Inn located at 2218 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge MA, I was compelled to do so. My daughter was graduating from Harvard, her commencement took place in May. My wife and I had begun our search for a place to stay in Cambridge far too late, leaving all accommodations fully booked except for one… A Cambridge House Inn; a seemingly charming bed & breakfast lavished in old New England hospitality - WRONG, lavished in RACISM, SEXISM & FILTH. The first red flag raised even before our arrival; I was told my card would be charged one night in advance, I had no problem with this until I found my card had been charged for 3 nights in advance by 3 different employees. The first charge by an Erick, second charge by an Andrea, third charge by an Axel! Even more appalling, when confronted, each blamed the other whilst also blaming the owner of the Inn, a Chinese woman named Hong. Axel claimed the reason for this mistake was due to the fact of having a female employer that employs women to work the front desk, and that he finds women incompete
nt in this position: Andrea also blamed her employer for this mistake but reason being that she is Chinese and she cannot stand working with the Chinese! Upon our arrival, Axel checked us in – hurriedly and unwelcomingly –whilst yelling, in Mandarin, at a young female coworker. He did not inform us of any amenities or social activities, nor bothered to show us to our room. Left on our own to find our room left us lost, but, gave us a chance to see how poorly run, poorly maintained & filthy this place of business was - dirty sheets left randomly in the middle of hallways, broken light bulbs or none at all left parts of the building so dark we could not see the staircase that we were cautiously trying to ascend, leaky air conditioners created puddles on stained, mold-forming carpeting and the shared & private bathroomssimply unsanitary! We could not even enjoy the continental breakfast provided in the main living room area due to the fact of it being near the front desk where we were subjected to, every morning, hearing Andrea or Axel speaking loudly, rudely & cruelly about the guests and their crazy Chinese employer. We were booked for one week, we left after 3 days. This place was really awful and should be shut down!response / report this review -

Staff was personable and friendly. We normally stay in commercial motels so the Victorian room we stayed in was a refreshing change from the bland cookie cutter motel rooms. Room was homey, clean, and comfortable. We enjoyed our two-night stay!

Pro: convenient, quiet. Spacious room. Stayed in modern side. Felt safe after dark. Nice staff at desk. They invited my friend, who was not a guest, to eat breakfast with me. Good coffee, nice tea selection. Front porch pleasant to sit upon. Friendly guests. I was a solo guest. Good WiFi.
Con: expensive, but I suppose everything in that neighborhood is. Breakfast mostly cold and carbs. TV didn't work, I discovered at 2 am, but I managed, thanks to WiFi.

Worst stay I have ever had.
When I booked I asked if there was a refrigerator anywhere. I understand it's a B&B and amenities are different, but the only fridge available was a dorm size fridge shared with the employees. I was traveling for work and two out of three nights did not have functioning wifi. The air conditioning is sub par at best. After having it on for three hours the room was still 75 degrees. The rooms are surface clean but dusty and dirty-- an allergy sufferers worst nightmare. If you want the B&B experience and are only here for charm, you're fine. If you want to sleep comfortably and watch Netflix, you're out of luck.response / report this review
