A place with lots of history . People Carved the mountain sides to make houses and Churches. It dates from the 10th century ( if I am not mistaken ). As a Greek the fact that I could read the christianic images in the Churches was a amazing feeling. I would recommend a tour guide so that you can understand what you see. Personality it helped a lot. Also visit that place late in the afternoon as to avoid the huge amount of people that visit that place but not too late because you need time to see the whole thing. So time your visit.

Fascinating! The views there are truly beautiful. There are those holes that people lived in the 20th century, and they are fascinating. There are churches (albeit with the faces of the paintings scratched out by the Muslims), houses, even a mosque. It is a truly fascinating place to be.

A beautiful UNESCO World Heritage site and very well maintained. The additional 10 lira for the dark church is well worth the money. It is a fantastic place to visit and a great area to explore on a sunny day. It is a short walk from Göreme town centre but the whole area around there is great for walking. Would highly recommend!

It is a 10min walk from Cappadocia Center. Going there around end March or April is a fair weather time. However you must be geared on all weather situation, because you might caught with Sand Storm and wind is cold. Entrance is fast and you can pay with credit card and also to their stores. The facts or knowledge you gain after is 50% more.

Great to visit in the spring and Autumn. Mid summer gets very hot. Also a wonderful place to take photos. The only downside is that tourists are now not allowed to take photos inside the churches.

Definitely worth to pay extra money for visiting some of churches. Breathtaking views. Beautiful, open air. A lot of history. Highly recommend to wear warm clothes and comfortable shoes!!! Coz some places needs to climb high leathers and it might be hard to do if you are on highheels..

Must visit! One of those places that should be in your bucket list. Definitely pay the extra for the last cave church on the top! Definitely one of the natural wonders of the world!

Interesting place, worth the stop if you're visiting cappadocia, but not much offered in the way of explaining the site properly. Perhaps do your own research before your visit.

There were too few signs in the park. Most caves were just a shallow hole in the wall, there was no explanation to what it was used for in the past, which is very disappointing. The only interesting cave to visit was the dark church, which you had to pay an additional 10 bucks to get in. Besides the negatives, the place offers pretty land sites and it's worth the trip with a guide.

great activity with kids. Go early in the morning, targeting to reach by 9 max. Else it gets crowded. Many churches to view. Try to get hold of museum card which gives access to other museums and places in the region. Unfortunately was not available to us at that time.

About a 15 minute walk from Goreme centre. I went around 5pm on a Saturday but it was still fairly busy.
This is part of the museum pass so if you view here and church inside you just need to view something else to make it worthwhile.
It takes about 90-120 minutes to get around. I thought the signage could be better but maybe just getting a guide would be optimal.
I'd really recommend visiting the dark church which is an extra free (if you don't have museum pass) It has the most stunning frescoes that looked like they were painted yesterday.

Nah, just overrun. Zelve Open Air Museum was in our opinion the better visit. Overrun with tourists and we came at quiet times, can't really walk freely through the caves. Lots of history though in this place and some beautiful paintings.
