You enter this cistern from the street behind the pink government building, so location on map is generally correct, just not the entrance. On Friday morning, enjoying the solitude on one of the table with chairs and 0 visitors and all shops draped over. Recommended!

Adress is complety wrong.
This Cistern is in Sultanahmet near from the Yerebatan Sarnıcı also in Sultanahmet

Wrongly pinned in Google Maps, attempted to rectify but failed!! You have to admire the builders and restorers of these places and then on the other hand wonder at why it would fall into disrepair and disuse when it is in the heartland of tourists. I was initially excited when I looked at the pictures, but then I wondered why all the comments were poor. Had to see it for myself. I was the only tourist. Almost had to wake up the man in the "ticket" booth. The place smelled very damp and musty as you probably would expect from a former water cistern. Awesome columns but poorly lit up only a portion of them - cost cutting one would suspect with lighting and heating.

Unfortunately not allowed to take photos inside. This is a historic place, similar to an underground palace. It is basically an open area. I found it interesting even if there was not so much to see.

Comparing to the Basilica Cistern right near, this place doesn't really have anything.
I felt like 10 TL entrance fee has been effectively robbed.
I think most of the good review here are mistakenly for Basilica Cistern.
Good thing is it'll take only 5 mins to look around inside.

This is a very small tour. You will be looking at the same thing while you are there, but it is a visual delight. Well worth walking around and just marveling at what was built and how beautiful something so simple can be.
